- - - He's got a teasing, loving, playful streak that shows around people he's close to.

" It's alright. " He replied quickly, trying to hide his nervousness. Makoto took the reins with a little nod. Why was he getting the feeling that this wasn't going to go well...? Her emphasis on not dropping the reins made him grip them a little tighter. " Alright, I won't. " Then she decided to mention how being stepped on by a horse was so awful, pointing out a long scar on her arm from one such incident. A small shiver ran up his spine. ' Why am I doing this...? ' The optimistic side of him jumped back in. No, he would be fine, just had to be careful, hold the reins and don't fall off. " ...'Kay! Let's go~ " ...Alright, so he was still extremely unnerved. The sooner this started the sooner it would stop.

"It must have... Bled a lot. Did it? " He couldn't help but look back to the scar on her arm briefly. Thankfully she was starting him off easy. A straight line at a slow pace wouldn't be as horrible as he'd been anticipating. " Sure! " So he snapped the reins.

A little too hard, it seemed.

The reins snapped and the horse jolted a few quick steps forwards. He tugged at the reins a little in a bit of panic, arms pulling back to his body as he flinched. Horse freaked, boy freaked, horse took another few quick steps and bucked a little. He fell back to the ground and, instinctively following Nicolette's earlier instructions, he rolled. Once out of the way he stared up at the sky for a moment in slight shock. Then he laughed and sat up, formerly exceptionally done hair and clothes dirty and grass-stained. But he was grinning a little. Which was odd, considering he'd just been dumped on the ground. Perhaps it was just that he figured out that falling wasn't as God-awful as he was thinking it would be. After all, that was most likely the worst that'd happen to him. When he spoke next there was a tone to his voice both amused and vaguely excited.

    " Can I try again? "

Before they left the building Souji took a moment to turn to the doctor, giving the older man a slightly weary smile. " Thank you very much. " He said softly, and once at the car, he watched Eiji go about getting the car seats. The older boy shifted the baby in his arms. " Well, breathe, for one. Just... Try to calm down, alright? No need for a meltdown. " He walked to the other side of the car to keep an eye on Haruto while Eiji went to the trunk. Advice wasn't exactly his strong suit, but he'd give it a go.

" I doubt Erika despises you. If anything, she's probably just a little... Upset that you're so close to Ayane. Kiyoki sometimes got like that when I'd be in a relationship; they get used to their siblings attention, and aren't used to it going to other people. And she's your girlfriend's sister, it's alright to be concerned. " He shrugged, then added, " Besides, if anything happened to any of your siblings Ayane would probably worry too. " This was why it was kind of nice just to not be in a relationship sometimes. Even not including Kiyoki's possessiveness of her brother, he just didn't have to deal with the stress of those things.

" And her parents probably don't hate you. You're just... Dating their daughter, that's all. I can see Dad getting that way if any of our sisters suddenly came home with a boyfriend. I guess it's a parent thing to be protective of girls. " He shrugged then. " You're new in town, they don't really know the family, you have purple hair... " At the last bit he shot Eiji a little teasing smirk. " But seriously now. All you can do is try to do things to try and get them to like and accept you. And if they really do hate you and refuse to change that? There's not much you'll be able to do, I don't think. " He mumbled, leaning back against the car.

" ...And Shirou. If the problems you two are having are bothering you like that, you should talk to him about it. Might help, might not, but it's worth a shot. " After a second he pushed off of the car, carefully setting Hakari by Haruto and going over to Eiji, putting a hand on his brother's shoulder. " We're all stressed about the move too. Packing up a lifetime and leaving everything behind wasn't easy for any of us.

" ...You aren't in any of this alone, Ei. You know that, right? You've got friends and a family large enough to make a small sports team. "
The older sibling smiled a little. " Don't just keep it all to yourself, that's probably contributing to the meltdown feeling. There are fourteen other people you can trust to hear you out fully. That's what family's for. " Giving the other's shoulder a pat, he then turned towards the back seat and grabbed the unattached car seat there, clearing his throat slightly awkwardly. Usually he didn't talk that much. Just when the siblings needed him for something. The joys of being an older brother. " Ah, keep an eye on these two while I set these up in my car, would you? "

Roji, it seemed, was in a state of upset shock. Her father looked over at her. " ...It is real, Ro. " He started, knowing that this was a shock for all of his kids. But they needed to know; and it wasn't fair to the other man to just keep this a secret forever. " I've... Spent a lot of time down over what happened with your mother. Dawson may be a man, but he's... Helped me get myself back together. " Kiyoki lost it then. Ayumu cringed slightly as she started to yell and get teary eyed. It stung that she was so upset. " No, sweetheart, that's not... Mom and I had other problems. That had nothing to do with him. " He started, brow creased. It was heartbreaking to see his children like this. " Kiyoki, wait...! " One hand reached out towards her as she broke into a run going out of the restaurant. The man bit back a groan. This really could be going a lot better than it was, but he wasn't exactly surprised. This was pretty much why he'd been apprehensive about introducing his boyfriend to the family.

He blinked at Souji as his eldest gave him a quick hug before bolting off to find Kiyoki. He was probably the only one she would deal with at the moment anyways. ' Some father I am. My own kids won't even talk to me when they're upset. ' He thought dryly, running the hand extended towards his now absent daughter through his hair.

At least Shirou, Andorū and Eiji were taking it well. Eiji's initial shock seemed to have been... Surprisingly short lived. " I will too. " He replied to Shirou and Eiji's comments on the twins. " I do honestly think they'll do better there though. They'll have parents that actually spend time with them. " It was one of his own regrets. He spent a lot of time with his work with Nissan, and partially as a writer when he had the time; so there weren't usually a lot of spare hours to spend with the family. Ayumu looked to Andorū then, smiling back at the boy. He seemed honestly happy. " Thanks, son. That means a lot. " He sighed, looking to his boyfriend.

" ...I'm so sorry about this. Don't... Try not to take it personally. It's me they're mad it. " He murmured, frowning. 'This' could refer to a number of things; the way his children reacted, however, was at the top of that list. And he felt it necessary to clear up that it wasn't that his kids hated Dawson, as far as he knew; they were upset with him for being with a man. It could've been any man and things still would have happened this way.

OoC ...Alright, making the format less huge and full of pictures while I switch constantly between characters. > > ;; OoC

x x x x x " Umeko -- ! " The man watched his daughter walk out the door with a creased brow and a tiny sigh, running a hand back through his hair. It was no easier for him to give up two children than it was for his children. He had adopted them, and come to love them as his own; but they deserved so much better than he could give them. Lips thinning into a little frown, the man looked to his other kids. A couple more came in the door then, Roji bringing a friend like Sushi had. It made this a little more awkward, but he'd deal. There were only two of them, it certainly could be worse.

x x x x x Makoto, from where he was sitting, was absolutely dumbstruck. Giving up the twins? Seriously? But they were family! His lips pursed and his eyes narrowed a little. He'd never been one that dealt with loss especially well, and this wasn't turning out to be an exception. " So you're just... Just giving them away. " Ayumu turned to his son then. Souji's eyes were silently going around the others at the table, trying to gauge his sibling's reactions. Some were more obvious than others, but he figured nobody would be leaving here very happy after this was over. They were getting a few stares from others in the building as Umeko screamed and walked out, but that didn't register as very important at the moment.

x x x x x " They're very good people, Makoto. They'll be able to take care of them -- "

x x x x x " And we can't? " He cut in quietly, looking over to the kids in the high chairs. Alright, so maybe they didn't always get the attention they needed at every moment of the day, but... Like his sister before him he rose to leave, suddenly finding that he needed the fresh air.

x x x x x At least until his father announced that there was somebody they needed to meet. He paused, looking around for the girl his father was no doubt talking about. Their mother had already found another guy, some younger man, so it didn't really surprise him that their father finally had found some girl to --

x x x x x He was absolutely dumbstruck when a man in scrubs approached the table. A more childish part of his mind was determined to insist that this must've just been some close work friend, maybe his boss or something. But none of those people really qualified as 'very important.' Souji had just stayed silent the entire time, only moving to gently put the hand of his free arm on her shoulder. Unless he was mistaken, this was the doctor from the hospital... How did their father know him? Then again, when was their father even interested in guys?

x x x x x Ayumu, taking a slow breath in and subtly shifting a little more towards the other man, spoke again. " Kids, this is Dawson. " He said simply. Roji and Andoru didn't seem to mind him; then again, Roji was a very quiet girl on the best of days, and Andoru looked like he had something else on his mind. Makoto was staring, Souji was all but unreadable, and Kiyoki looked, well, scared. Deciding to take the initiative, he reached over to quietly take Dawson's hand. " He's my boyfriend. "

x x x x x Souji finally gathered himself to speak. He didn't... Oppose the relationship, so to speak. It would be hypocritical if he did, as he himself had had boyfriends before in the past. It was just... Odd to see his father with a man after being married to a woman so long. The thought was baffling. " ...Doctor. " He said quietly with a nod and a light smile. Maybe if he took it well, Kiyoki wouldn't be so openly terrified or upset by it. But he was thinking the chances of that were pretty slim. " It's... Nice to meet you. "

x x x x x Makoto, however, felt otherwise. ' ...Mom leaves for a younger guy, and Dad goes off to find a guy. ' What was with their family? First putting the whole divorce and move to America, then their mother going all cougar and finding a younger man, now putting the twins up for adoption and Dad springing his boyfriend on them. He wanted to be happy for his father. But more than that he suddenly had the desire to go home. Back to Japan, back to his mother, back to when everything was normal. Then again, he'd always been more of a momma's boy anyways... With a hard swallow Makoto quietly excused himself from the others and followed Umeko out the door quickly, eyes fixed on the ground to avoid looking at either Ayumu or Dawson.

" ...Coming up, How to Save a Life, by The Fray. Have a good morning, Haninton! "

Ugh. Haninton could kiss his a**. The blond boy rolled over and pulled his pillow over his head, that and the mattress muffling the irritated and exhausted groan. Clearly he wasn't much of a morning person. And while he would have just gladly gone back to sleep the loud American music blaring from off to his right refused to give him any peace, even if the song was a touch softer than some others with the piano. He'd give just about anything to be waking up in Japan. Greeting the morning with NewS was exponentially better than this. But he had that thought every morning, and alas every morning was still the same since they moved. Like he was at that moment he'd reach out with one hand to swat around for the radio, finally hitting the 'snooze' button in his groggy state and letting his arm fall limp again. Every morning he would silently curse the stupid station his alarm was set to, though he always forgot to change it, and every morning he would silently curse that their mother had ditched them and stayed behind in Japan. It was the same wake up routine, without fail.

Eventually he rolled over onto his back once more, staring up at the ceiling before shifting and pushing himself up into a sitting position. ' Good morning, America. ' Takumi thought dryly as he blinked tiredly at the wall across from him. He sat there like that, just slowly waking up more, until the snooze button wore off and the radio came back on, just in time for him to catch the end of that song. Running one hand down his face he reached over to shut off the alarm for the day. ' Well, I know I'm not going to be getting any more sleep now. Might as well get out of bed... ' With a tiny sigh he slid out of the covers and his feet hit the floor. From there he padded over to his closet and grabbed some clothes, moving towards the door after that. He grabbed the strip of cloth he always wore over his nose off of his nightstand on his way out of his bedroom, quickly walking to the bathroom. ' Huh. Looks like I get the shower first for once... ' Smirking a little he stepped into the washroom and pulled the locked door shut behind him.

It was, now that he thought about it, rather nice that he was up before anybody else that morning. It meant he got the first run of hot water and first go at the mirror, which meant he wouldn't have to wait for anybody else to finish before he could get his hair and the slight amount of makeup done more quickly. The shower itself never took long, but the latter two tasks sometimes did. So he took his time for once, dressing and then using a bit of gel on his hair to keep it in place, then carefully applying the eyeliner and tiny amount of dark eyeshadow. Then he slid the cloth band into place over the middle of his face. With that finished he left the washroom, tossing his black flannel sleep pants into the laundry hamper on his way out.

Nobody else seemed to be up yet. Which also meant that he got first run at breakfast in the kitchen before it got busy. One hand going into a pants pocket Takumi walked back to his room to quickly grab his cell phone and iPod before going quickly yet quietly downstairs, determined not to wake up anybody else so that he had more time to himself in the usually bustling house. Socked feet stepped almost silently on the hardwood floor to the tiled kitchen one, where they stopped as he opened the fridge door and poked around for anything that he could eat. ' An orange or a kiwi might not be bad... '

MELISSAANGELINEPARKER
Hi there! My name is Melissa, but call me Mel, and I'm about Fifteen years old! My story began on October 17th and is still going strong! The doctor declared me to be a Girl and it has yet to change. I don't think we've met yet, but you probably know me as Miss Gamer~

xxxxxxxxNow let me tell you a little something about myself!
I was born mid-October to my businessman father and lawyer mother, Evan and Jolayne Parker. They were never home much, so I was basicallly raised by a horde of nannies. They came and went, most not sticking around long because whenever Mom was around she... Wasn't very pleasant to them, to put it one way. My parents and I have never been very close, and growing up without a parental unit I needed something else to be attached to. One of my nannies has always been around, ever since I was born. Her name's Chiyoko; she didn't start off speaking English very well, and even though she still has a bit of a Japanese accent she's way easier to understand now than she used to be. Anyways! Aside from Chiyoko I found something else that gave me a... Well, a vent I guess. Yep, you guessed it. Video games.

Donkey Kong, Mario, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... That kicked it off. My parents had money, so they just kind of bought me whatever they could to try and make up for not being around so much. My gaming habits started off when I was a kid with my Super Nintendo. The years went by, technology developed, and I kept right up with it. New computers, game consoles, the games themselves. The basement of my house is pretty much my santuary, since it holds all of that stuff from over the years.

But that's the past. Nowadays, though I've still got that video game addiction that some may say I've got, I'm entirely used to not having Mom and Dad around. Even when they do come by I spend more time with my XBOX and Wii anyways. I'm usually a pretty happy person, joking, optimistic most of the time. You can almost never see me without some kind of game. Even when I'm away from home I've got my DS or PSP on me. I try to keep all of my negativity hidden behind a smile. I don't think what people think or say about me, except for my friends. Honestly, to me my games mean more than they do. Fictional people are always better than real ones, haha...

Hi there! My name is Andrew and I'm about Sixteen years old! My story began on March 9th and is still going strong! The doctor declared me to be a Boy and it has yet to change. I don't think we've met yet, but you probably know me as Mister Skater.

xxxxxxxxNow let me tell you a little something about myself!
Well, I was born sixteen years ago to Kristen and Robert McBride. My mother had just graduated, and my father was a young doctor that had treated her for depression a few years earlier. It was a pretty screwed up relationship; my father made a bad decision that resulted in my mother getting pregnant with me after a one-night stand. Dad didn't have much other choice than to get married before I was born.

So I popped into their lives a few months later. All in all I've lived a pretty good life since then. Mom's a stay-at-home mother, Dad still works up at the hospital. I got into skateboarding as a kid, when I was around eleven, and over the years I've gotten pretty good. It's more than just a hobby, but it's not easy to make a career out of it, so I doubt it'll ever become more than it is. But I've also got a few interests involving computers and design (surprised?) so... I might get a career there, if I graduate. Let's just say that I'm more interested in my skate hobby than schoolwork.

Along with a bit of a temper, I've got a good sense of humor, and while I'm honest I may lie on occasion if I think it's something people want to hear. I'm cheerful, if not a bit sarcastic at times, and I can be a bit of a pessimist now and then. Which tends to make me popular with girls sometimes; but I doubt it helps that I flirt on occasion. I've had a couple of girlfriends too. But the relationships never really lasted that long; probably because I'm not really... Interested. I mean, I'm still pretty deep in the closet, but I can't deny that I'm more attracted to guys than girls. ...O-One in particular even. But don't tell him!

It was a little difficult to get through the halls without watching where you were going. She was constantly bumping into people, giving a quick little apology before pressing on. Most people who knew her, most who had even seen her a few times before wouldn't be surprised at the behaviour however. It would be more unusual to see her actually paying attention. Mel almost always had her eyes fixed on the little backlit screen in front of her in her hands. That particular afternoon it was a DS Lite that had grabbed her attention. Apparently, whatever game she was playing was more important than dodging bodies in busy high school hallways. But it always was. You could almost never catch her without some sort of game in hand. There was a reason she was 'Miss Gamer' after all.

Carefully shouldering open the door to the lunchroom she took a quick moment to look up. ' Ah geez, I forgot my lunch at home again... ' She thought, frowning a little as she bit the inside of her cheek. Chiyoko wouldn't be happy when she saw the brown paper bag still sitting on the counter. Taking a moment to press another couple of buttons, watching the character run around a bit, she then looked to the lunch line. ' ...Do I really wanna wait in that...? ' It wasn't horribly long, but long enough that the thought of waiting there wasn't exactly pleasant. Mn, she wasn't that hungry anyways. Mentally shrugging the girl stepped away from the door so that she wasn't blocking it as she looked back to the DS. It wasn't much, Pokémon SoulSilver, but the series usually amused her. At least up until Ruby and Sapphire, Diamond and Pearl never really caught her attention, and she wasn't entirely sure she wanted to know how Black and White would turn out...

Shaking her head a little to clear it she took another look up to the people around her. ' Huh. Doesn't look like the guys are here yet. ' Melissa thought, blinking curiously. Her usual group, which only comprised of -Mister Nerd- and -Mister Lonesome- didn't seem to be anywhere. For once she really had no idea where they were. The upbeat girl huffed a little. Now what was she going to do...? Autumn and Pash were probably in there somewhere, but she wasn't exactly buddies with their other friends. Emi and Jessica didn't seem like bad people, don't get her wrong, she just... Well, they just weren't her friends. She got along better with the other two.

Her eyes caught on the two aforementioned girls at that moment. Just in time to see Autumn squeal and take a cupcake. The girl grinned and laughed quietly, shaking her head as she leaned against the lunchroom wall, attention going back to Pokémon. She wouldn't bother the girls. It wasn't a big deal to just wait for her own crew. They'd be by sooner or later. Hopefully. ' Oh well. I can just level up Quilava while I wait~ ' Hey, she always had something to do anyways.

x x x Damn it, he was late again.

x x x Then again, late might be a bit of an understatement. He'd missed the entirety of the first two periods after all. Andrew carefully maneuvered his board as he rode up to the school. The morning he'd spent at the skatepark instead of going to class; probably a mistake, as he'd no doubt missed some important information, but he'd lost track of time. Not his fault, nope, not at all. As he got closer to the front doors he kicked the board up to his hand and grabbed it, tucking it under his arm. The outdoor lunch supervisor shot him a look and the boy rolled his eyes. Yeah, he was used to this. As soon as he got to school he was to put the board in his locker. Every day, same routine. Not to mention classes, homework, typical high school drama...

x x x It'd be so nice when he graduated.

x x x The dark haired teen went to his locker to drop the skateboard off, closing it roughly as he turned towards the lunchroom. Honestly, while he'd rather keep it on him, putting it away was preferable to getting it confiscated. He walked to the lunch area and stepped through the door. On his way there he'd seen Tyler walking off with one of the seniors (Rebbekah, he was pretty sure it was) and Oktavian was nowhere to be seen. Jess and Autumn were sitting at a table with their friends across the room. And he wasn't there either.

x x x Coughing into his hand a little to push that thought aside he went to one of the few empty tables left and dropped his bag onto it. There were a few little snacks in there (he hadn't brought an actual lunch since he was a kid) so he pulled one out. A granola bar? Well, that was lame. Could've been worse though. He made a bit of a face as he shrugged one shoulder and tore open the top, taking a bite from it as he looked around the room. Nothing else to do, might as well people-watch for a while. It was high school, there was almost always something going on.

Matthew ❝Alexander❞ St. James

guy number [[ one ]]

Matt Twenty-one
March 7th Contaminated Angel

Quiet, Thoughtful, Polite, Sarcastic at times, Secretive, Responsible, Distant, Light-hearted but sometimes serious

⁞⁞⁞ - - - - - - - - - - ⁞⁞⁞

While he may tell everyone he's twenty-one years old, there's more to Matt than meets the eye. He was really born in the early 1930's, a mere few years before the start of World War II. The only son of a wealthy family in America, with two older sisters, and parents that tried to keep the three of them very sheltered as the war raged on. In a bad twist of fate they had moved to Britain just before Matthew was born, and found themselves unable to leave once the conflict started. The family kept a low profile, but when London was bombed during The Blitz, it left six-year-old Matt and his eight-year-old sister Marcia orphaned and without a home. Marcia died only a few months later of starvation and dehydration, having sacrificed most of both her share of what food and water they had for her younger sibling.

He wandered for about a week on his own before an fairly young man by the name of Connor St. James came upon him. His home, being on the outskirts of the city, had been spared and was still intact. He took young Matthew with him, unofficially adopting the boy into his family. Though said family only consisted of the one man. The war seemed but a distant tale from inside the walls of the grand home as the boy mulled sadly over the loss of his family. He didn't leave the house for years, until the war was over, and while he didn't often see his new caretaker leave there was food and water enough at all times. Eventually some semblance of peace came to the country and the now ten-year-old male came into inheritance of his parent's small fortune.

Connor became his new father of sorts over the course of the years. Matt ventured into the city about once a week as he became older, and when he was twenty-one he met a young woman whom he developed affections for. It wasn't long after that Connor decided to make his son more officially his... Family. Connor, who turned out to be a vampire from the mid-1800's put him through the painful, gruesome experience of being turned. He was to be kept isolated until the initial overpowering bloodlust subsided, but the woman he loved showed up at the house a couple of weeks later. Unable to stop himself, he killed her and drank her dry, only to realize what he had done and flee Britain, returning to the United States where he had been born.

It was where he stayed, never really settling in one area, getting an education and moving from job to job, occasionally drawing from the funds he had obtained earlier in life. He moved to California about a year ago, making a few friends and... Well, getting rather drunk and having a one night stand one night. It wasn't something he usually did, but once it happened, that was that, it was over. Or so he thought...

She seemed to be spacing out a lot over the course of their conversation. It was... Curious, but really none of his business. For all he knew maybe it was a hormonal thing. And if it was, it was most definitely better not to ask. Matt was honestly a little 'off' himself; then again, after finding out that he was a father after a one-night stand five months ago, could he really be blamed? It wasn't something you found out every day.

Though this did throw quite a large wrench into his future plans.

Because of his... Tendency not to age all, to put it one way, he wasn't the type to set down roots. Stay in one place for a few years, then leave before anybody could notice anything. Erase all traces of his having been there in the first place. A child would certainly make that more difficult. Long distance relationships just weren't possible when it came to being a parent; from what he heard it hardly worked even for short-term romantic relations. But the scenario that went through his mind just... Made him uncomfortable. How was he going to explain anything, to either Tyler or Channer, when she started to look more like a middle aged woman and he stayed exactly the same way he'd been when he'd first met her? Or why he kept stolen blood bags in his freezer? Though hopefully they would never find those anyways...

And that was ruling out any possibilities that Channer was... A little more than human. Or less, to look at it another way. If he grew up with fangs or cravings for exceptionally rare meat that would be a little bit of a giveaway that something was up. Or if he suddenly just quit aging at some point. Or if he fell into some... Permanent bloodlust, or something? The possibilities were damned well endless, if there was anything wrong at all in the first place.

Matt shoved the thoughts aside, ignoring the dull weight that had settled in his gut and focusing on Tyler again. There was no need to tell her anything for the moment; at all even, if their son was a normal human baby anyways. There was no way in telling how she'd react, and for now he was certainly fine with how it was. No point in worrying about those things now. " I might tag along, if you're alright with that. " A wry smirk pulled at his lips then. She stood, and he moved a pace or so closer, quietly pushing in the chair she'd been sitting in. It would probably be good for him to get used to the children stores. Taking a look at the furniture they had wouldn't be a bad idea either if he was buying some for his apartment...
omg! what did we do?!

            ON THE INSIDE
P e r s o n a l i t y »» Cedric's a very upbeat, friendly kind of guy. He'll usually like you unless you give him a reason not to, and if anybody needs a hand he's almost always willing to offer it. But nobody likes everybody, and he tends to ignore those he actually dislikes unless they approach him first. He's also quite levelheaded most of the time; unless he's intensely provoked, in which case his sheer size and sharp temper make him someone most people would want to think twice about messing with.

Also a bit of a joker, Ced tends to land himself in quite a deal of trouble at school for little things he does for a laugh. An active imagination, a good sense of humor and independence enough to do what he wants when he wants tends to get one landed in detention. He does know his limits however; after all, it's only funny until someone gets hurt, and it's not hilarious then contrary to popular belief. He'll try to hide things like nervousness and sadness under a smile, a laugh, a joke. He doesn't always take a lot seriously but he knows when he should, and he takes responsibility for whatever he may do. He's a sweetheart when it comes down to it.

            ABOUT ME
M y L i f e S t o r y »» Every story has to start somewhere, and this one begins twenty years ago. A young woman, who went by the name Alicia Monroe, had a career as an interior designer. She was very good at what she did, she was regularly busy with clients. While at one job in particular, up on a ladder to check the old lighting of a high-ceilinged home, she fell and broke her leg. Her client phoned the hospital, and an ambulance came to drive her off. As it turned out, she needed surgery to fix the badly broken limb. When she came to afterwards she was eye to eye with the young doctor that had performed the operation, one Eric Dayes. As her attending doctor while she was in recovery he would stop by her room whenever he had a spare moment, and the two found that they had a lot in common. They got along well, and when it was time for Alicia to leave the hospital she was sent home with a promise from Eric to keep in touch.

They did, and after being together for a couple of years he finally popped the big question. They married, and not long after had their first child. A little boy, by the name of Cedric. He was well loved by his parents, even his father who spent more time working at the hospital than at home, but alas the couple wanted more children. Time went by, and when Cedric was two Alicia became pregnant with her second child, a daughter named Marcia. Though initially displeased with the shift of most of the attention from him to his sister, Cedric slowly adjusted and became used to his younger sibling. But before he completely adapted to the change his mother was expecting yet another child, and a few months later little Robert came into the world. By that time three, Cedric was able to keep himself entertained while his mother tended to the others. More years went by, the kids growing up slowly. Alicia, the only girl, was a spoiled little thing by her mother, and not especially loved at that point by her brothers. The two boys were quite close, Cedric more than eager to try and teach his little brother what he could. Drawing (though he wasn't very good at it himself,) reading (something he excelled at for whatever reason,) how to play simple video games and 'go fish.' They had all settled comfortably into their lives, their oldest son having just turned six, when Eric and Alicia decided to try for one more child.

They ended up with more than they expected when she announced to her children that she was carrying twin girls. She was received with mixed reactions. Cedric was fairly neutral, Alicia was excited to be having sisters, and Robert was ticked off to say the least that he wasn't going to be the youngest any more. The months passed and the girls were born about three weeks early, Kayley and Kristen their mother's little angels. It wasn't long until Alicia realized just how spoiled the two were, being the newest members of the family, and the girl turned absolutely vicious upon feeling attention deprived. It took another couple of years for her to really settle down and adjust, and by that point she had taken on the role of older sister well enough.

It was quite a while before their mother could return to her own work. Once the kids, the youngest by that point nine, were all settled in at school she began taking design requests again. There was relative peace in the Dayes household; Cedric, fifteen, spent more of his time taking care of his brother and sisters after school than anything once Alicia returned to work. When their parents were around, even after so many years he remained the more neglected child; the twins always needed something or another, Robert had a bad immune system and was more often than not sick, and Marcia was still just as attention hungry as they had been when they were younger. In an attempt to try and be more noticed himself Cedric began to act out more at school, little by little. Throwing paper planes or balls during class, greasing doorknobs or jamming doors so that they couldn't be opened, putting water buckets on top of doorways... Never anything very big, but enough to land him in detention on a regular basis. Even with the calls home his parents had become too busy with deal with the antics of their oldest. As it went on, he started doing it more for the amusement factor than for trying to get attention.

He was the friendly local joker that most people knew or had at least seen around. He was, however, quite surprised when one girl approached him after one prank to talk to him about it. She ended up being his first girlfriend, at fifteen years of age. They dated for about five months, but once he caught her cheating on him with some other guy out behind the school he dumped her and pressed on, hiding the hurt from the incident behind a grin and the placement of itching powder on the paper towels in the washrooms.

It was a few years before he got another girlfriend. During a sciene lab he was partnered with her and, having not paid attention during the explanation beforehand, he wasn't sure what to do during it. She walked him through each step, and they hit it off well. He ended up asking her out, and when she accepted it came as a shock to the general populace of their school. After all, while she was better known as the goodie-goodie new girl, he was just about her opposite.

When his mother and father took the rest of the family upstate to visit family for a weekend he declined to go along, instead deciding to stay behind and throw a small party while they were gone. He invited his girlfriend over, and both of them ended up drinking a little too much. One thing led to another, and when he woke up with very little memory of the night before the next morning Ced found himself lying stark naked beside her. There was some panic for a while, but he was glad she didn't dump his a** after what happened. A month later he's kept the party a secret from his parents and has noticed lately that his girlfriend has been... Changing. While he's worried that she's keeping something from him, he doesn't know how to go about asking.

The room was almost completely silent, save for the slow breathing of the figure haphazardly tangled in the covers of the bed pressed against one wall, and almost completely black except for the dull red light coming from the bedside table's clock. The sleeping male had one arm draped over his face, the other hanging off of the bed. The light from the clock cast an odd red light onto his face, completely peaceful in sleep.

Then the minute changed, and music suddenly blared from the little machine near to his head.

As Jessie's Girl began to play loudly Cedric gave a little groan. His dangling arm reached over to the bedside table, smacking at the top a few times before he finally found the alarm clock and hit the snooze button. Silence returned as he rolled over and pulled his pillow over his head. A few minutes were spent like that, and when the alarm clicked back on and the loud music returned, he slept on. Until a figure opened his door and stepped in not long after.

" Are you going to turn that o -- Are you still asleep? "

His sister's sharp voice pulled him back into wakefulness. He gave another tired noise. Marcia stood silhouetted in the doorway, hands on her hips. She was about ready to march over and yank the blankets off of him when his pillow suddenly came flying towards her, smacking her in the face with a dull thud as she let out a shriek. Now scowling she threw the pillow back at her half-clothed brother, only in a pair of boxers. Her lips curled into a thin, somehow demanding frown.

" Get up, you dolt! You're going to be late! "

" Yeah, yeah... " He mumbled, sitting up and running a hand over his face. Marcia rolled her eyes, crossing the room and yanking the heavy curtains open. Her brother cringed slightly at the sudden brightness to his unadjusted eyes. " I'm goin', alright? Get outta here..! " Before he could throw the pillow at her again she had all but pranced out of the room and closed the door none-too-quietly behind her. Cedric rolled his eyes, sliding out of bed and padding over to the closet, cringing as his feet hit the cold hardwood where his carpet stopped. He might've been annoyed now, but he wasn't the type to stay that way. He'd be back to himself by the time he finished getting ready.

So he grabbed some clothes and left his room, almost forgetting to grab a towel on his way to the bathroom to take a shower. It wasn't a very long one, nor was it ever; in a home with five kids all getting ready at the same time in the morning, you either got kicked out before very long or there wasn't much hot water when you got in. In his case it was the latter, and once it began to turn cold he got out and quickly towel-dried his hair, gelling it a little after he got dressed. His hair was thankfully quite low-maintenance, as he was admittedly quite lazy in the mornings. And he wasn't really one for coffee, so it took him a little longer than most to get himself going in the mornings.

He left the bathroom and took the stairs quickly. Robert and Marcia, the latter with a piece of toast were already in the kitchen; Cedric ruffled his brothers hair affectionately as he passed him on his way to the fridge. " Morning! " He said lightly, opening the fridge to scrounge around for something to eat. Breakfast was an important meal, sure, but he never spent much time on it. It was usually either some sort of leftovers or toast, whichever was easier. That morning there happened to be some fried rice and chicken left from the night before, which he pulled out and popped in the microwave for a while.

          " ...You're seriously eating that? "

" Leave him alone, Mar. It's just rice. " Robert piped up, poking at the cereal in front of him with a definite lack of interest. The poor kid was down with another stomach bug, so food wasn't very high on his list of priorities. Though he was still going to school, saying that he 'didn't want to miss too much.' That was one thing Cedric couldn't understand about his brother. If he was in Bobby's shoes he'd be jumping at the chance to stay home. The kid was almost always sick. The microwave beeped and he pulled out the plastic container, snagging a fork from the utensil drawer and digging in.

          " Good morning~! "
          " Good morning. "

The twins Kayley and Kristen came down next. Though the two blond girls were identical in appearance, there were definite personality differences that you could notice before you even got to know them very well. Ced, with a mouth full of rice, gave them both a little wave. The girls grabbed themselves some cereal and sat with Robert.

They all ate in silence for a while before the oldest sibling finished off his rice and tossed the little plastic container into the sink. " Well, I'm outta here. " He said lightly, walking to the front door and stuffing his feet into his shoes. " See you kids later! " Brushing off Marcia's angry retort that she was not a kid (being so spoiled at a young age had done wonders for her attitude) he walked to his car. While walking he pulled out his phone to check the time, then put it back in his pocket. ' Hope she hasn't left yet... '

Getting into his car and twisting the keys in the ignition, the silver Nissan GT-R pulled out of the driveway and into the street. The music from the radio was only really background music as he wasn't really listening to the current song while he drove. He didn't live too horribly far from his girlfriend, so the drive wasn't an especially long one. It was made even shorter when he took a couple of tiny shortcuts down some less busy back streets. He pulled up in front of the Conners home before long. He caught sight of her sitting out front of the porch swing, so he cut the engine and pulled the key from the ignition, getting out (locking the doors just out of habit) and, hands in his pockets, walking to the porch.

" Morning m'lady. " He said lightly, stopping at the porch steps and leaning against the railing casually. There was a tiny grin on the jokesters expression. " Your chariot awaits, whenever you're ready to get goin'. " She looked a little... Off. Irritated maybe? He wasn't entirely sure. " ..How's your morning been? "
