guess what? I run a D&D game at my school for a bunch of my friends

well they can be pritty immature about it and it made me mad when they wanted to play World of Darkness because that game (in my oppinion) is really only for the most mature of RPers...and now they outvoted me in playing it...

this game is supposed to be about drama and interaction and NOT combat...but one of them already wants a high-powered sniper rifle and another character is soaking a massive amount of points into a thing that will make him really REALLY fast...at liest i think so...THEY HAVENT EVEN LET ME READ ALL THE RULES YET?!?!?!

If you have ever played a Pen and Paper RPG? people think that running it is so easy....it is NOT...i had to think for the better part of a YEAR to come up wth their current game...and now they want me to think up a completely different one in less than a week!!! i cannot believe the gaul of them all!!

if any of you have run into this situation and have any ideas...PM me!!!

If they're sinking points into something that can increase their speed then they're probably playing as a vampire and the abilitiy they are putting points into is called Celerity. For every dot in Celerity the character gets one full extra action that can be split up into multiple actions like normal, or they could choose to use some as movement actions and blahblahblah. Basically, they get more turns per round.

As for the sniper rifle, lettem have it. It won't make a difference if you have access to some Werewolf source stuff. Give'em a little Lovecraftian horror, let them realize that power isn't the only way to win by throwing a Nexus Crawler their way the first time their characters botch some sort of ritual role. Throw things at them that heal fast. Or better yet, if they are a motley crew of sorts, as in a mixture of different supernaturals, throw them into the Dark Umbra, the dark side spirit realm.

Oh... I forgot, which World of Darkness is it? New or Original?

new WoD...and i know what Celerity is and does thank you very much...its my favorite vampire ability...i was referign the the Mages Temporal Dodge spell.....i just put it in those terms for players who didn't play WoD....so don't think im stupid...because im FAR from it...

i still ahvent finished the Mage book, but once i do, im sure ill have plenty of things to teach them a lession...
the Forsaken is the only book im missing and im getting it for christmass
Hm. I only borrowed and read through M:tA once, but I don't recall that ability. But I do recall that casting anything can get you hurt or killed if you go above coincidental magic. Figuring out a way to neutralize or kill off the mage in the campaign shouldn't be hard, unless he's very clever, in which case he deserves to live.

yea, its called a "paradox"

I apologize for any accidental implied or perceived insult to you. I simply didn't know whether or not you knew about it because you had mentioned you hadn't read all of the rules yet.

Once you get Forsaken you might want to check out the supplement Skinchangers. Unless you included the supplements in what you already have. WoD Skinchangers means loads of fun. Personally I like making a skinchanger along the lines of a Lunar exalted.

My favorite aspect build:
Vicious Skintaker (eat the heart of the dying animal or ingest it whole)
No Talisman
Bare Necessities 1
Extraordinary Specimen
Hybrid Form 5
Tell

On another note:
Machiavellian to the extereme is: I allowed one of my players to play as a mage from Mage: the Ascension, but his starting Arete couldn't rise about 1. Which meant that he couldn't have more than 1 dot in any Sphere. I gave his character 2 years of start up time before the campaign, which we played through... Never again. By the time he'd hit the 18 month mark he had the paradox spirits working for him! Be careful with mages.

Mage the Awakening is one shiny @$$ book. And when you're bored out of your mind its fun to stare at.

Player: "But it's not in the book!"

These players annoy the living **** out of me because so many just don't have an imagination.

A lvl 16 Jedi Guardian invoking rage. It ruined a plot point with a rancor but on the other hand it gave a good mental image.

The dark side feat Rage boosts up some of your characters stats, off hand I can only remember the part most important for the anecdote, which is that for every level in a force user class the character gains, among other things, +4 strength. Which meant that the Kushiban Jedi had it's base strength of 14, plus 64, equls Strength of 78.

The Kushiban Jedi used the Rancor as a blunt weapon to pummel a group of bounty hunters. The rancor itself died as well.

For those who don't know what a Kushiban is:
Kushiban are about the size of a medium sized dog, floppy rabit like ears, a really fluffy tail, a feline body structure, and cute and innocent seeming eyes. Their fur changes color according to their mood.

PC: I cast Magic Missle.
DM: What do you cast it at?
PC: Into the darkness.

I swear, this guy was about as stupid as possible. He also decided that, at the start of the game, that he was going to charge one of the other PCs in a city. Needless to say, he ended up in jail.
DM: "You find the Mayor and his family huddling in the closet."

Half-Orc "I throw the Mayor and his kids out of the closet, walk in and shut the door."

DM: "Why didn't you through out his wi..... oh. ... ..."

This and many similar situations happen with our Half-Orcs.....

yep weapons that was a fun campaingin i got to wear a veil at the end and we had the warforged that had green armor with spikes on it that was named godzila and he could spit alchemists fire that was one battle twisted
In a game I had built from the ground up (now being rebuilt thanks to a phsyco of an ex gf) the party killed a hill giant. The human barbarian proceeded to remove and keep the testicles so he could get a weaponsmith to forge a hill giant nut flail.

"I want to play a good aligned Drow Ranger with dual wielding scimitars."

DM: "As you take in the splendor of the port city, a young boy bustles through the crowd and stops in front of you. As he pauses a moment to catch his breath, having obviously been running, he finally manages to say 'My Master...wishes to have...a meet--'"
"I kill him."

funny, funny, funny
Me(DM): You emerge from the trapdoor, out of the caves, and find a dusty room with a pair of enormous wooden doors on one side...

Amazoness: I cut off my left breast so i can fire an arrow more accurately...

*little later*

Me:The large bronze key unlocks the slave pit. The captures villagers squint up at you, some of them flinching back.

Ranger: Oh crap! They're gonna attack us!

Amazoness: Ancient amazoness art of hypnotizing! *mimes opening jacket*

Ranger: What the hell did you DO!
Well, this was in Babylon 5, not D&D, but basically the only difference in the systems is that armor is damage reduction instead of AC.

GM: Hah! So the warrior crits you for.... ooh! Max damage! Tough luck.

Me: ... It doesn't pass my DR.

It was supposed to be one of those "infinite warriors come at you until you go away and use a sneaky solution" encounters, but we basically depopulated the city and used their bodies as a step ladder. I <3 Drazi ^_^
DM: Ok, so you're walking through a small village just outside of Neverwinter, what do you do?
P1: I pull out my bag of holding type IV and keep my sap at the ready.
P2: I do the same.
DM: Uhhh....
P1: I walk up to a guard, "Sir, do these diamonds look real to you?" Holds out bag.
DM: The guard looks in.
P1: SAP! Stuff in bag.
DM:.....*rolls dice* ....nobody saw you.
P2: I do the same
DM: Oh god...
Many minutes later of sapping and lobbing bodies into bags of holding, there was a baker delivering an order to Neverwinter running through the town.
DM: Baker: Well, this is erie.
P1: "Excuse me sir, would you take this as payment for your bread?"
DM: Sence motive, fail. He looks in.
P1: Sap! Stuff in bag. "Well, finally, we can rest easy and get some free food!"
DM: I should totally smite you guys.
Yeah, my friends and I came up with that scenario; If two REALLY good rogues walked into town with saps and bags of holding. Good times.
