Welcome to the Matope Winter Market -- an IC festival celebrating the season!

If you're unfamiliar with the shop, click the image above to head over to the main thread and read up about the world of Matope and the Kimeti that inhabit it, as well as the rest of our shop's rules. It is especially important that you read up on the naming conventions for the world, as they are very specific, and if you do not know the rules then you might be excluded or disqualified from certain events.

This event will begin December 15th and end January 4th.

NOTE: All contests and events end at 10pm EST unless otherwise noted.

THE WINTER MARKET

The setting is a clearing in a dry spot of the swamps, wide and long, sheltered by some wide-sprawling branches. Here there are many fallen stumps and logs that kin can use to set up shop --

And this is the core of the festival: kin selling wares, or running games, offering tokens or taking them from the visitors who move through the clearing each day. It's a social event where kin might find some of the special fruit juices that some kin have been allowing to ferment in scooped out logs, or some of the creatively fired goodies that others have created with the aid of some salamander friends. It's a smorgasbord of activity, friends greeting friends, raucous laughter.

THE BOOTHS

Unlike most events here at Matope, this one will be run pretty much exclusively in this subforum of the guild! It is largely IC with a major user-run component.

The core of this event is staff and user-run booths in which participants are rewarded with tokens for their efforts. All users are not only allowed but welcomed and invited to create their own booth! Please just make sure to post in this thread for staff approval before you start a new topic in this thread! Once your concept has been approved [possibly with some small changes to balance it] you can get started on making your booth and users can come on in.

We also welcome you to create non-game threads if you'd like -- make a booth in which you sell your art for tokens, or simply in which you RP! It's up to you.

Of course, you're also welcome to simply participate, instead of running your own thread. Visit as many booths as you'd like to win and gather tokens, but keep in mind that you can only visit each booth once per day. Explore the many creative games our staff and users have come up with! Collect your dues and spread the love!

TOKENS

Someone has taken the time to gather up and mark hundreds of multi-colored pebbles, sorting them into groups that denote their value, so that each booth at the Winter Market can easily hand them out to those who participate in this event. It's unclear who did the work, but the result is staggering:

1, 2, 3, 5, 10 valued tokens!

These tokens serve as the core of the event: the only currency that's worth anything within this clearing, and the only way to get them is through participation. Each booth has an allotment to pass out to daring kin, and once they've moved from booth to pack, they can be spent on special events, on accessories, or traded from one kin to the other....

Here is the basic concept of the event. Participation in events will result in winning tokens from boothkeepers, as specified in the rules of their booths.

When tokens are received from a booth, you must take two steps. First, make sure you have a post in the Token Tracking Thread to track the flow of tokens in and out of your possession, and then make sure you make a note in the Token Claim & Exchange thread that you have collected a token [or two, or three, or...]

GIFTBOXES

Once you've got your hooves on some tokens, what then? You can trade them with other users for services like art, or gaia items, or gold, or for nothing if you want to simply give a friend a gift using the Token Claim & Trade thread -- or you can use them to buy tickets for Giftbox/Giftbag raffles! These raffles will happen every 3 days during the event, and will be offering giftboxes and bags that you can either keep or give away to a friend.

Each giftbox corresponds to a free, unedited semi-custom kin from a specific colorist. Each giftbag is a free, unedited semi-custom pet or familiar either from the core shop familiars or an open permission special familiar!

In addition to the token raffles, each weekend of the event we will also be doing a Gram Giveaway, with a grand total of 36 boxes and 36 bags being sold every Sunday. However, these boxes and bags, cannot be kept. They must be given away. Boxes cost 25 mil; bags cost 10 mil. Only the winners of each weekend's raffle will have to pay.

ACCESSORIES

Tokens can also be used to purchase accessories for existing kin! Each accessory can be purchased for 1 token, limit one per kin. More info can be found in Never Idle's Booth here!
