Marketplace Update
First, let me say sorry for all the turbulence during this update's flight.
And now, on to what changed:
Selling items in the marketplace should now be faster for people who sell many items at a time.
When you list an item, a modal will show up where you can enter the item details. You will stay on the same page throughout the whole thing, even once the item is listed. Same goes for any errors that show up.
If you're selling a single item (non-quantity), it'll be removed from your inventory list upon a successful completion. If it's a quantity item, we'll update the item to show the new quantity.
We now default to the search tab. This is mainly due to a lot of people having big inventories and the page taking a long time to load.
Passwords are now being sent through SSL (you'll notice that you'll now have a lock icon/different color URL bar) when you get to the sell an item page.
If you price an item too low, or select to use 'bid', you'll have to click on a checkbox in order to be able to input your password and click the list it button. This is meant to try and prevent people from mispricing items.
As part of this update, we also changed from using Yahoo's servers for the YUI JavaScript library to hosting it ourselves. This is where most of the problems came from that affected a lot of unrelated parts of the site. The dust should have settled by now! Again, sorry for all the trouble that caused.
There have also been a couple suggestions that will get implemented in the future:
- Default to 14 days (since it seems that's what most people do)
- Provide a link to the item's listings so you can quickly/easily view how many other items are listed, etc.
- The ability to choose which tab loads by default in case you really, really, really hate the search tab.
Any problems, issues, suggestions, etc can be given in the feedback thread:
