U P D A T E S

April 2 - It has been a long time since my sudden leave. Things in RL took a turn and I ended up leaving Gaia without notice for quiet sometime. Over that time my computer crashed and I lost all of the Octopai files so now that I'm back I can't really do anything with the shop. crying If I owe you anything from the shop please send a PM to this account so I can get it sorted out. For now I will be thinking up what I can do about the shop.

9/2/09: NPC info is up with a picture of Glenda!
8/24/09: A new stage has been added to the original Octopai lineart!
8/4/09: A cert request thread has been made to keep confusion of certing down. A link to it is in the first post and be sure to use it or you won't get certs of your Octopai.
7/14/09: I live in the country, away from most internet providers, and we had been getting our internet from a satellite on top of a grain silo for the past year or so. After being out of internet for a week we discovered the satellite had been struck by lightning and since we were practically the only ones using it the company wasn’t going to pay ten grand to get a new satellite up there so we’re out of internet. I don’t know if we’ll be able to get it this summer but this fall I’m heading off to college which has wifi so I will be off the hiatus by the end of August and hopefully sooner if I get internet in the house before. From time to time I’ll try to stop by a wifi hot spot to get on but won’t be on enough to host any events.
5/1/09: May 1st and page 100 is hit! Congrats Annchen for winning the custom!
4/30/09: After 'happily ever after', our first post breeding event is over and a huge success!
4/10/09: Spring event is over with a breeding soon to come from it.
3/21/09: Opening event over! Thanks everyone for making it such a huge success! A custom raffle will be held tommorrow in the guild. Go to thread.

Deep beneath the surface of our seas, far beyond any eye has seen, lives a colony of sea creatures much more advanced then any could imagine. From the form of a simple octopus they evolved into intellectual creatures and created their own society. How they came about, no one knows. Some believe it was a mutation from toxic waste or odd experiment. Others believe it is evolution running its natural course. Whatever the reason, they are here and growing more then ever.

Since their appearance they have populated the ocean, and evolving into different species. Groups and families are formed and rivalries into feuds. From fighting leaders are chosen or force their way into power. And thus the ocean has been divided under the rulers, each carrying out their country in their own way.

C O R A L - C I T Y
The most populated area in all the ocean. Its a very colorful location filled with many
other species of sea creatures.

K O R I S - R E E F
The second reef of the ocean, one much smaller, that is located on the opposite side of the rocks.

K E L P - F I E L D S
Kelp Fields is the natural mating ground for the Octopai. It is safely tucked away by large rocks
allowing the grassy weed to grow plenty full. Many families come here to lay their eggs. Once
eggs hatch the child may be taken back to its home or its mother may choose to continue raising
them there. There is no ruler of Kelp Fields and so far have been no threats about ownership.

T H E - C O V E
The cove is a shallow pool of water surrounded by rocks and a beach, with only a small opening
to the ocean. There is not enough resources to sustain a town but many Octopai come here to
visit, especially with their young.

O P E N - W A T E R
The open waters can be a dangerous place. Safety is in the undersea mountain where many
make their home away from the business of the coral reefs. The waters are cooler here and
receive less sunlight allowing less plant life to grow making it a gloomy, wide open place.

A L E X I A
A large underwater mountain which is the home to many Octopai outside the reefs. It is still
a mild climate here, unlike the north, and there is huge protection by the rocks and its leader
watching over her people.

T H E - I C E - F I E L D S
High in the north are the ice fields, or what resides below the ice fields. Many northern Octopai
can be found here making their homes in the glassy ice caves. The waters are deep like the
open waters but much chillier. Predators are less common but the ones that are there
are the most dangerous of all.

T H E - C R E V I C E
The Crevice is a deep trench along the ocean floor. Many Octopai stay away from it for its
unknown dangers while others choose to make it their home. It protects them from large,
outside predators but what lurks inside the crevice can cause a threat. There is no rule
or law here leaving every Octopai to fend for themselves.

A tiny egg is laid in a kelp nest, usually in Kelp Fields. The little egg is full of life and can even be seen moving
around inside. They can hear but not see so many parent Octopai can be found talking to their young. Because of
this many Octopai know who their parents are as soon as they emerge from their egg. Lasts about 1 week.

C H I L D
A baby Octopai looks more like a throw cushion then a baby. But don’t be fooled! They are very much alive and have
every sense an adult Octopai has. They can swim with their tentacles and eat the tiny creatures floating in the ocean water.
They can also see and hear, and speak; you just can’t see their eyes or face yet. But because of their odd shape they do
not swim well for fast yet so they must stay within the eyes of their parent or school. Lasts about 2 weeks.

A D O L E S C E N T
A rather large transformation has occurred as the Octopai's humanoid side emerges from the tentacles, full formed. They still
look young and are very much mentally depending on their experiences as a little ball of tentacles. Lasts 2-3 weeks.

A D U L T
The Octopai has grown a lot and matured into an adult. Adult Octopai are very graceful swimmers who can swim at
high speeds in small bursts if trouble arises. They live in groups for protection from sharks and other predators. Just like
their brethren octopus, they can squirt ink in time of trouble. Lasts forever.

common
The original species of Octopus found all over the ocean for they can adapt to the many climates. They are of
an average size and moderate speed.

L A N T E R N S
uncommon
Octopais who have adapted to the deep caverns of the crevice. The spikes at the end of their tentacles are to grip to
jagged rocks and the lantern from their forehead for light in dark places, though their night vision is amazing. They are
of a slightly larger size then the Octopai and are only fast in small bursts.

N A R L O N S
uncommon
Narlons are the species of the north. They have a thick layer of blubber and fat keeping them warn in the coldest
of waters. Surviving in warmer waters is difficult due to this keeping them north. They are the largest species of
Octopai. They are not speed demons but are strong and have endurance if paced.

C O R A L - C I T Y

Coral City is ruled by its king and royal family. The reef has been in prosperous times with no threats from other nations yet the bond of their allies are growing weak. Their King is an eccentric Octopai who enjoys lavishing in his riches. The royal family goes way but the original purpose of having a ruler has slipped away. Through the king's expensive needs, he has become oblivious to the things happening outside his castle. Coral City has alliances with Alexia which are weakening as his actions become more unfavorable to its ruler. Movements seen by many other nations are gone unnoticed to the king and when brought to him, clearly ignored.

The King has two children; a daughter and a son born from the same litter. Many would think his son would turn out a replica of the king, like it has before, but he had been placed in training at a young age and learned to look up to the militia commanders as a father figure and role model. He became very skilled in militia tactics and fighting skills. Though he enjoys the luxurious of the rich life, he will still fight for his people though this has been suppressed by his father not wanting anything to do with war.

The daughter is a sought after girl who has been the display of her father since she was born. She has hated being shown off like a possession and despises her father and the life of royalty. Rebelling, she won't show up to events and will be found in the city around a commoner yet no one has been able to identify him.

K O R I S - R E E F

The Reef was originally a no-mans land who would look to Coral City for help in times of need. That was until Koris forced himself into power. An intelligent man, he persuaded and rallied the creatures of the reef until he was put into dictatorship. He reined for a few years before dieing. With his wife gone before him, he left his son and daughter to rule.

A Octopai after his father, he is just as cunning and manipulative. After he went into power things have been slowly changing. A militia is being gathered as hushed as possible but no one can hid something as large at that. Some believe his is conspiring something while others believe he predicts an attack of another nation. This rumor has rocked alliances between Octopai and nations.

Koris's daughter is just as brilliant as her brother but has not had any strife with him over kingship. She enjoys being in high command in of his militia but does not enjoy the justice of the reef. Many things about her are mysterious as well as her existence which other countries are unsure about. With such skill others are more worried about her then her brother.

A L E X I A

Glenda is the general and ruler of the Underwater Mountains and the Open Water, known as the woman ruler. She is strong, intelligent, and independent yet has a compassionate side making her popular with the Octopai. Being so independent, she has never taken a husband or produced an heir. She has strong ties with the Ice Fields and the Octopai there favor her greatly. The alliance with Coral City has been growing weak at her distaste for their ruler and how he is governing, effecting the minds of the northern inhabitants as well.

T H E - I C E - F I E L D S

The Ice Fields have been ruled ruled by a council of elders, much different from the rest of the ocean. The high elder had just passed away a few years previous, and the authority of the elders has slipped away causing the Ice Fields to become unbalanced. Some are looking to join with Glenda and others are looking to stay ungoverned. With the position open, will anyone attempt to grab it?

T H E - C R E V I C E

A dark and dangerous place, the Crevice is home to exiles and criminals. There is no king or ruler though gangs and groups have emerged and are beginning to become a threat to the nations. Some believe this the reason for the Reef's gathering of a Militia.

See news/event for openings. Do not assume they are open!

From time to time we will open the ability to buy a custom Octopai. When customs open it may be first
come first serve or raffle style. If first come first serve, the form must be out completely and correctly and
the trade sent immediately after posting or we can decline your order. If raffle style, the order form and
payment is due within 24 hours of winners being posted.

Semi Custom is you choose 3 colors and a theme, no edits.
Full Custom is you choose all the colors and designs, no edits.
Custom hair is a full custom with custom hair edits.
Complex custom is a full custom with custom hair and clothing/other edits.

For non-growing customs you can choose if it is at the Adolescent or Adult stage for the regular Octopai.
Add 20k for Octopai to start out as an egg.

Breeding is held in the guild.
See news/event for openings. Do not assume they are open!

Once two Octopai reach adulthood they can mate. Mates must be male and female and of the same
species (inter species breeding may occur at sometime in the future). Mother Octopai usually lay 2-6 eggs
with a better chance of more if they are roleplayed. Each owner can only keep 1 egg, even if the owner owns
both parents. The rest must be given away to friends or found good homes through the shop. Parents must
wait until all their current children are adults before they can breed again.

Breeding Price is 10k.

Each owner needs to send 5k before breeding can occur.
This allows us to make sure both owners are okay with the breeding.
