Cosmic Animalia: What's What in a Nutshell

Alright, so you don't want to go through the whole thread to find out what we're about, I understand.

Ani are activity required, meaning you have to come back once in awhile, when it is time for them to grow. They are RP optional, but of course you'll be able to reach the fourth Transcendent stage if they are roleplayed. Flatsale cost is 10K for 3 stages and 4 if roleplayed. The pricing is high because the main purpose is to breed the pets for possible uncommon, rare, and mutation type pets. Uncommon and rare types will have line edits and mutation pets will give the shop a new species. New species will not be put into the world until they have been brought in by a breeding. Adopted pets and breedings will have one additional egg stage. Transcendent stages will be aligned towards Ambrosial or Nefarious, each has separate lineart.

Basically, the world is called CosAni, which is short for Cosmic Animalia and can be used interchangeably. All inhabitants are called Ani (plural=Anis), though each have a separate species name, like Kitalpha (plural=Kitalphae). In this land, they collect Moonstones, which are the currency of CosAni. They offer the stones to the Moon God, and He grants various potions needed for Ani to grow and breed.

CosAni is known as the land governed by the Moon. The Moon is their God, and He grants the wishes of the Ani, CosAni's inhabitants, as long as they bring an offering of Moonstones. For this reason, Moonstones are highly sought for and wars have been raged over them. The dreams of having their greatest wishes come true has brought one-a-many into Nefariousness, while others have stayed true and Ambrosial.

When the Moon God is in His waxing stage, He glows bright and yellow. The brightness brings the Night Faerie, Nix, out of hiding to distribute her glowing Moonstones. When the Moon God is in His waning stage, His luster fades and turns grey. The absence of luminescence brings out Nix's twin, Ceres, to bestow her own shadowed Moonstones. The type of Moonstones an Ani has collected will determine whether they become Nefarious or Ambrosial.

Now, young Ani, it is your turn. Will the quest of the greatest treasure in CosAni bring you to Nefariousness?

Sleeping Moon God
The Moon God sleeps all day and all night-- only the sound of Moonstones rattling in his bucket will awaken his sight. He'll open one eye and then the other, counting the Moonstones slowly, but surely. Then his eyes will light up, one after another, and the smile on his face will widen bigger than ever. The Moonstones will disappear before your eyes, and in their place, a big surprise!

Nix the Night Faerie
This special faerie comes every so often to grant Moonstones to those who are active in the thread. Sometimes, she'll drop a Moonstone in the thread randomly and if you are the first to quote the stone, you'll receive it. Other times, she'll grant Moonstones directly to those who RP, win events, or do good deeds around CosAni.

He's always hard at work in his underground laboratory, I wonder if he ever sees the light of day? Expect to see new potions pop up every so often, but don't expect to ever see him out in the daylight! He sells potions that Anis might need over their lifetime, including various breeding potions and growth potions for the impatient.

* Obtaining a pet: If this is your first time here, you have to wait for a flatsale, event, or the adoption agency in the Nursery to get your first Ani (short for Animalia).

* Flatsale Ani's cost 10,000 or you may wait to obtain a freebie from an event, which are given out through games. Pets will start from the baby stage and grow through 3 stages, unless it is from a breeding. A custom lined transcendent stage after the adult stage is available for roleplayers.

* The adoption agency will have pets when Anis breed and have more offspring than they can manage. Pets from the adoption agency will start from the egg stage. These will be sold in an auction style sale.

* All pets are activity required, meaning you have to come back whenever you want your pet to grow. See Pond of Prosperity for more info. I just don't want to be growing pets if you're not even paying attention to them. They are RP optional, which means you may RP for benefits of growing into the Transcendent stage and Moonstones for freebies.

* Egg: Only parents who breed will obtain an egg. An egg is able to hatch after 2 weeks.
* Baby: All Anis from the nursery start from this stage. A baby is able to grow into an adolescent after 3 weeks.
* Adolescent: An adolescent is able to grow into adult after 5 weeks.
* Adult: Anis are able to breed only at this stage. An adult might be able to become Transcendent if they are RP active.
* Transcendent: Is your pet destined for greatness? Only the most brave-of-heart have a chance at this future, and they must be RP active! Transcendent Anis are unable to breed.

How to grow your pet
You might have noticed that there are no longer time periods at which your Ani will grow! You have to come back after the time periods stated above and peer into the Pond of Prosperity to see if you have earned the rites to pass onto the next stage.

Species

* Common (2-4 offspring): The most abundant pet type in CosAni, probably because they are capable of producing the most pups per litter. Common pets do not have line edits of any kind, but that does not mean they are not special!
Offspring ratios: 60% Common // 26% Uncommon // 10% Rare // 4% Mutation
* Uncommon (2-3 offspring): These second most abundant pets of CosAni have light edits, most typically, horns.
Offspring ratios: 30% Common // 42% Uncommon // 20% Rare // 8% Mutation
* Rare (1 offspring): This type has sprouted wings and taken to the skies.
Offspring ratios: 38% Common // 20% Uncommon // 30% Rare // 12% Mutation
* Mutation (1 of new species): The rarest of the rare! These pets have multiple mutations that cause them to be categorized as a new species! They might resemble their parents, though they might not at all! If a mutation pet has been chosen when breeding, a new species will be introduced to the world. When a cert says Mutation as the pet's type, it was the first of its species!
Offspring ratios: 100% Common new species
* Cosplays (cannot be bred): They are not truly a part of the CosAni world, so they cannot breed or grow into Transcendent stage.

The currency of CosAni are Moonstones, which are obtained by RPing, being active in the shop, mining, and through events. Breeding potions and other potions require Moonstones in order to be purchased. After collecting the amount of Moonstones needed, you have to offer them to the Sleeping Moon God in order to get the prize.

In addition to earning Moonstones, roleplaying is needed if you want your pet to grow to its Transcendent stage after the adult stage. This stage will be a custom lined faerie with Ani characteristics, along with a human figure. The pet must meet both the RP requirements and the Moonstone requirements in order to grow to this stage. Light Moonstones, your pet will grow to its Ambrosial Fae state and follow Nix in keeping outsiders from CosAni. On the other hand, if you offer more User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Dark Moonstones, your pet will grow to its Nefarious Fae state and follow Melaine in finding a home for the Ani of her home world, and whatever else she has up her sleeves. I think all will be revealed in due time...

This thread in the guild tells a bit about how the different species of CosAni behave, and might prove useful in RPs.

How to get Moonstones by Roleplaying
* 1 Solo RP = 2 MS
A solo RP means your pet will interact with other pets you have or just itself. A complete RP must include a problem and it must be solved, not left open ended. Try to develop the pet's personality, and what makes them unique. Minimum length is 50 sentences total.
* 1 Group or 1-on-1 RP = 1-3 MS per person, depending on how often you post.
Roleplay with others in a thread set up in the guild. Each post must be at least 5 sentences long (this might differ depending on rules set up in each RP), and each person must post at least 5 times in order to get the minimum.

Send all trades to the MULE, Cosmic Animalia.

* New pets start from the baby stage. These will be sold in flatsale type events; either speed, raffle, roleplay, trivia, or something else.
* All sales will be announced at least a few days in advance.
* Pre-sales will be open occasionally and last one day, where you can buy whichever pet you choose for 2.5x the price.
* Proxies may or may not be allowed for flatsales.
* Flatsale pets have 3 main stages (baby, adolescent, and adult), and a transcendent stage for roleplayers.
Cost: 10,000
Send trade first, and then fill out this form after winning a pet.

Flatsales

Anis without a home will go here. Adoptions start from the egg stage. These will be sold in an auction type sale.
*Adoptions will be announced a few days in advance.
*Auction will last 1 week or until autobought.
* Snipe guard is 1 hour after last bid, so if someone bids in the last hour of the auction, it will be extended by another hour. It will end if there are no new bids an hour after the last bidder.
* Send trade within 24 hours of winning the auction, or the pet will be sold to the runner up for the price they bid instead.
Starting bid: 10,000 // Autobuy: 200,000.
Fill out the form in the certing thread after winning.

Anis may breed when they are in the adult stage only.

* The right type of potion must be bought according to the type of breeding you want. You must have the potion that corresponds to the rarer of the two in the breeding, for example, if breeding a common and an uncommon, buy an uncommon potion.
* Each owner can only keep one baby from the breeding. If three Anis were born, you may only keep one per owner. If you bred two Anis of your own, you may only keep one pup. Additional pups must be given away or given back to the Nursery to be put up for adoption.
* Pets before the revamp will have to wait for my (Nekoanie's) slot to be open.

Check whether breeding slots are open in the guild.

* Offer your moonstones to wake the sleeping moon god to grant your wish!

You can see how many Moonstones you've collected by viewing the Collectory.

* 5 stones: 15% off any breeding potion or new Ani from a flatsale. Cannot be used in pre-sales.
* 10 stones: One free flatsale Ani. Cannot be used in pre-sales.
* 15 stones: +1 pup when breeding, even if you roll the maximum amount of pups. Must be used with breeding potion.
* 20 stones: Breeding Potion (N) for normal breeding.
* 24 stones: Breeding Potion (U) for an auto uncommon breeding.
* 28 stones: Breeding Potion (R) for an auto rare breeding.
* 30 stones: Transcendent Potion (RP Requirements must be met) Additional fee of 20K needed. Send trade to Cosmic Animalia.
* 40 stones: Mutation Potion

After collecting the required number of Moonstones, post in the guild.

Anis do not automatically grow. You will need to come to the Pond of Prosperity
after the time frame posted on the Growth Chart or when there is an arrow next to your pet's name in the owner's list (in guild).

Some of these potions can be obtained for free by collecting Moonstones and offering them to the Sleeping Moon God.

MS = Moonstones
If you don't have moonstones, participate and be active! It's easy! Otherwise, you may pay 1.5x the price.

Normal breeding potion. Normal chances of getting common, uncommon, rare, and mutation type pets.

* Breeding Potion (U) : 12K + 5 MS.
All offspring will be Uncommon.

All offspring will be Rare.

* Mutation Potion: 50K + 15MS.
Feeling adventurous? Offspring will become
mutated into a new species.

Ensures that the breeding will give the maximum amount of offspring.

* Recolor Potion: 5K.
Must be used with a breeding potion! All offspring's coloring and markings
will be random, and will not look like their parents'.

* Growth Potion: 5K.
Luck just isn't on your side? This potion will grow your Ani to the next
stage without having to try your luck at the Pond of Prosperity.

I left after a few months because I didn't have enough bandwidth to keep all 270 of the pets on the server I was using. I came back to Gaia in Mar. '08 and created a new B/C shop named Cute Collectibles, which had its named changed to Cosmic Animalia in August. In January of '09 and 128 pets later, Cosmic Animalia went through a HUGE revamp of new pets, certs, added a story, active/RP benefits, NPCs, and a new thread.
