Real life has been keeping me busy.
I really never thought people would rely on this guide so much!
I'll try to do some updates here and there, and fill in the missing recipes.

Ashleyasdfg informed me that zOMG Comics have been moved to the

( Golf in the Villiage Greens )

It's easy to miss this little jewel hidden in plain site in the Villiage Greens.
Goof can be a tough game to master, so here are a few things I've learned that might help you out!



Why Goof Is Beneficial

Charge Orbs! Each time you complete a game, you get orbs.
A quick game can ease the stress of needing just a few more orbs 'til you next CL.
The animated that you run across may also drop orbs on occasion.

Loot. The course only takes you through the tops half a Villiage Greens.
The hardest thing you may come across are cannons & Gnome majors.
Going through the course killing fluffs, gnomes, and flamingos is a great source of loot.
It's also a productive way to fill in your map and learn your way around.


Game Mechanics

To begin a game, you must walk to MacTaggert in the Villiage Greens.
He'll teach you the basics of how to play the game.
Click the tee, the little green square, to get started!

When hitting the ball, it doesn't matter where the cursor/crosshairs go.
What matters is where your avatar stands in relation to your ball.
The ball will go in the exact opposite direction from where you're standing, just as if you were hitting the ball.
When you line up your shots the ball should be in between you and your goal.

Remember that it's not just the power guage that determines how far your ball will roll.
If you stand right next to the ball, you'll get a shorter, more presise shot. Like a putt.
If you stand about an avatar's length away, you can get a strong drive.

Standing at a distance from the ball and using full power,
the furthest I've ever gotten the ball to roll was about a screen and 3/4, horizonatally.


What You Need For A Minimal Game

For a basic, stress free game of Goof I suggest
being able to kill gnomes solo in no more than two hits.
Having to stop to heal often will really hurt your time for the game.
It may also get you killed.


What You Need For A Decent Game

Practice! Play the course a few times.
Get used to how the ball moves when hit and mind your power guage!

For a better game I suggest that you be on, or have finished the Gnome General quest.
By that point, you're strong enough and know the lay of the land.


What You Need For A Record Breaking Game

Bring a Caddy! Having a friend kill the animated while
you line up your shots can save a lot of time.
It's also a time saver if other players don't know you're in the middle of a game.
Your friend can explain to them to please step away from your ball so
that you aren't frantically clicking trying to get the crosshair.

One hit kills. Even with a friend, being able to KO everything up
to a Mushroom Cannon will take out all the stress of the animated.
By this point, you should have played the course many times,
so you'll have some orbs to spare!

Have the right rings. Fleet Feet can cut a lot of wasted time.
Scardy Cat can help you when the gnomes are slowing you down.
Don't ignore the animated. Rather, have a plan to get them out of your way as fast as possible.

Arrow keys. Get used to them for your movement.
There are times when you walk up to your ball and accidently hit it.
Avoid extra strokes by using the arrow keys to move close to your ball for those short putts.
It also helps to not have the ball selected until you're sure you've lined up your shot.
Edit: Arrow Keys are glitching right now, try your best with the mouse clicks!


Tips, Tricks, & Annoyances

After two or three games, you'll probably see these for yourselves.
Just thought I'd warn you in advance so you can get an advantage!

The map corners. When you get you ball stuck in the corner
or along side of the map grid, it can ruin your game.
Imagine you need to hit your ball to the right, but it's stuck in the left corner.
You can't get behind your ball in order to hit it to the right.
It's a waste of time to struggle trying to get a straight shot.
I suggest you take the extra stroke, hit your ball backwards, and try again where you have more room.

Sandtrap! Hitting your ball in a sandtrap spawns three sandtrap fluffs.
They're just as aggressive too, so be mindful. On the plus side, they do drop loot!

User Image Gnome Finish.When you finish the last hole of the course, expect gnome!
After the messages about your score clear, three gnome usually spawn.
They're not too strong, but the Lieutenant's in that square too, so don't get mobbed!

Rubber ball. Your ball will bounce off of almost everything.
If you can't walk though it, the ball will bounce off it.
This include things like trees, walls, bushes, flowers, leaf fences, and the Null Crystal.
You ball can move though other players, the animated, flags & markers.
Check your mini map when lining up a shot. Even if it's off screen, your ball can still hit things.

User Image Inactivity. Your game can end due to inactivity. Be aware!
The ball disappears in you don't hit it every so often,
so even though you may still be online killing gnome, the game may end.
Time you have between each hit of the ball before it's lost to inactivity: 10 minutes.

Think of the map as 3D. I'm sure you've noticed that the land contours.
There a ridges you have to walk around, spiraling hill, etc.
If you try to hit your ball up a hill or over a ridge, be prepared to give it more power!

Close the Progress Menu. That little menu in the top right corner can be annoying
when it blocks the view of your avatar or the ball. Don't be afraid to close it.
You can re-open it by clicking menu in the bottom right corner and choosing Progress.

Watch out for Towns, the black portion on the bottom right of the Villiage Greens.
Your ball can be hit into that area. The game may correct itself after a time,
but watch out that your game doesn't end due to inactivity!

Missed the Cut - Get a below average score on the Goof game.

On the Tour - Get an above average score on the Goof game.

The 800-Pound Gorilla - Get an extremely high score in the Goof game.
