. Hard&Fast RP Guidelines .
♠ No God-moding - be conscious of your fellow RPers and your Hyte's status as a fallible pet
♠ Never assume success - when you initiate an action, the targeted RPer will complete the reaction
♠ Back off if they're not interested - don't guilt fellow RPers into responding nor reproach them for lack of it
♠ When in doubt, always go with the shop-owners' flow - 3 reasons:
- We will always try to resolve it in everyone's best interests

Hytes are generally 5-stage pets, with an RP-incentive bonus stage. Past the protoform cylinder, each stage is unique to the individual pet.
Better sized versions of each stage without the cert will be PM'd to the owners upon growing. The certed image of the pet is hosted on our servers - the certed pet will grow automatically.

. Stage 1 - Protoform Cylinder .

The Protoform Cylinder contains the growing embryo. An embossed symbol at the base identifies the sex, and the visual projector indicates the dominant colour. The embryo is usually contained for about a week…

. Stage 2 - Baby .

…before automatic release when the embryo has developed into fully-grown baby form. In this stage, the Hyte has all outward characteristics of the animal its genome was derived from, save for the eyes which will remain constant throughout its life. As a baby, it may understand human language, but not speak it. The exception would be Hytes who emerge as humanoid hybrid babies - a form achievable only through Generation, as a Custom option, and very rare events. It will remain in this stage for approximately two weeks…

. Stage 3 - Child .

…before it develops a humanoid appearance, with its animal traits becoming secondary characteristics. Henceforth, the Hyte will develop both physically and mentally like a human child, with the addition of any natural skills derived from its animal traits, and at an accelerated rate till adulthood. All Hytes will be attired in specially developed bodysuits formed from unstable molecules in the child to teen stages to accommodate for secondary characteristic adaptation. Accessories and items may be equipped from this stage onwards.

. Stage 4 - Teen .

At this stage, the Hyte stands at the cusp of physical stabilisation. While some will have their personalities fairly well developed by this point, others will find it an awkward period of transition. [This is the stage where one has the last chance to influence the final appearance of the Hyte through RPing before it reaches adulthood. Owners will also be contacted for a tektek'd version of a simple outfit to be worn in the adult stage - outfits complicated in appearance will require an extra fee to render.]

Congratulations! The Hyte has survived the trials of youth and is now set to enter society and make a difference! [Or slack off as an underachiever for the rest of their life, either way.] At this age of young adulthood, a range of options from college to work awaits their choice, and yours…

. RP +1 Stage - Career .

…and if the choice is right - the Hyte's excellence in their chosen field will be acknowledged with a bonus stage growth! This stage can only be achieved through dedicated RP [or RL$], and usually comes far later in life. The Hyte will be rendered in the full glory of their career option, and owners will have a choice of cert display between the previous adult stage and this.
Please don't feel like you have to work towards this stage! HyTech will always be RP-optional. Hytes are considered fulfilled at the Adult stage - this is merely a bonus to reward those who might like to invest time into the growth of their Hyte.

RP Requirements for RP Stage
♠ Since it is primarily Career-centric [with the term "career" loose enough to include paths such as professional slacker, devoted house-spouses…], the Hyte's vocation must be clearly stated [either explicitly or through the narration of its activities]
♠ RP Journal [Cert Thread] must be maintained
Compulsory Components: a. Profile b. Relationship with/Impressions of other Hytes* c. Album for Growth Stages c. RP Record for linking to RP threads
* Only those your Hyte has interacted with/are significant to your Hyte need to be discussed
♠ You may RP the Hyte's progress on his path in life through any means, including personal journal posts, RP threads in the guild [PRP and/or ORP], and/or casual shop thread RP, but all RP that is meant to count towards the Stage Requirements must be locatable from the RP Journal [e.g. links to RP threads, quotes from shop thread, etc.]
♠ When you feel that you have done a sufficient amount of RPing to reasonably establish that your Hyte has achieved his career path, notify the staff and we will review your progress
♠ If we accept your application, you will be asked for further details, including a reference to the job uniform or its equivalent; otherwise, we will give you a gauge of how far along you are

What if my Hyte has a midlife crisis and decides to change his career?
♠ The process must then begin anew, with a full account of why this career change occurred. We have not yet decided at the time of writing, but we may require a proportional increase in the amount of RP required. At this time we have decided not to restrict owners from trying for further paths in life, but we also don't want owners to treat the RP stage as a way of getting multiple 'final art' pieces, and may thus impose a limit in the future.
* Mercenarily speaking, the RP stage and more 'final art' pieces may be allowed under RL$ commission conditions in the future.

Hytes can be acquired in a number of ways. The usual yearly sales schedule goes as such: a Lab Batch is released [flatsale and auction] near the beginning and end of the year. The middle of the year is reserved for the annual RP event and Generation [owner presale and auction]. One-off raffles, auctions, or variant events may be held for special events - generally Halloween, Christmas and the HyTech Anniversary. RL$ Customs may occasionally be opened subject to Maxx and Jun's need for real money. Each owner may purchase one Hyte per batch, and may purchase from every batch and special event sales.

. Lab Batch Flatsales .
♠ Lab Batch Flatsales are usually held once at the beginning of the year
♠ 3 Hytes per flatsale - generally m | f | m
♠ Flatsale Hytes are all single-animal genome hybrids
♠ Usual Flatsale price is 20k per Hyte [*changed - may still be subject to change]
Method: The flatsale will be opened in a new thread for a period [generally three days], wherein prospective customers may submit their applications [proposed name + general personality].
The winner will be randomly picked from the suitable applications, and will be announced in the thread and contacted by PM. Only pure gold is accepted for flatsale payments.
Flatsale winners are not allowed to win the auctions, so applicants who decide by the last flatsale day to concentrate on the auction may withdraw their flatsale applications.

. Lab Batch Auctions .
♠ Lab Batch Auctions generally overlap with the second and last days of the flatsale
♠ 2 Hytes per auction - generally m | f
♠ Lab Batch Auction Hytes are generally single-animal genome hybrids - but visually more complicated than Flatsale Hytes
♠ Usual Starting Bid is 20k per Hyte [*changed - may still be subject to change]
Method: The auction will be opened in a new thread for a period [generally three days], wherein prospective customers may bid at will.
Rares, collectibles, and letters are generally accepted at 5% below lowest market price, subject to approval.

. RP Events .
♠ RP Events are held at an average of once a year
♠ 2 to 3 Hytes per event - generally m | f | m
♠ Event Hytes vary in complexity according to RP theme
♠ Usual RP sale price is 20-25k per Hyte [may be subject to change]
Method: The RP event will be opened in a new thread for a period [generally for two weeks or more], wherein prospective customers may submit their entries.
The winner will be selected by a panel of judges, and will be announced in the thread and contacted by PM. Only pure gold is accepted for RP sale payments.

. Special + Generation Auctions .
♠ Generation Auctions are generally held once a year after Generation
♠ Special Auctions are subject to occasion
♠ Generation Auction Hytes are all generated double-animal genome hybrids
♠ Special Auction Hytes may be double-animal genome hybrids, or elemental fusion hybrids, etc.
♠ Usual Starting Bid is 25k per Hyte [*changed - may still be subject to change], except for Generation Auction Hytes,
whose starting bid will correspond with the tiered price ranged for the donor-owners as outlined in the generation post
Method: The auction will be opened in a new thread for a period [generally three days to a week], wherein prospective customers may bid at will.
Rares, collectibles, and letters are generally accepted at 5% below lowest market price, subject to approval.

. Special Event Raffles .
♠ Raffle ticket prices are 100g each
♠ Special Event Raffles are subject to occasion - Christmas is a usual possibility
♠ Raffle Hytes may be single or double-animal genome hybrids, or elemental fusion hybrids, etc.
♠ There will be 10 Raffle consolation prizes of a mini-line to be debuted Christmas 2007
Method: The Raffle will be opened in a new thread for a period [generally three days to a week], wherein prospective customers may buy tickets, carouse, and make merry.
The winning ticket will be chosen through a randomiser, as will the consolation prize tickets, and the winners will be announced in the thread and contacted by PM.

. Terms and Conditions .

Payment - While payment is highly preferred upfront after winning, payment plans for up to 35k pure prices may be utilised, subject to approval on a case-by-case basis. Unfortunately, due to the time-sensitive nature of Hytes, we cannot accept such substantial delays for higher amounts.
20k plan: 10k upfront, 5k every two weeks after
25k plan: 15k upfront, 5k every two weeks after
30k plan: 20k upfront, 5k every two weeks after
35k plan: 25k upfront, 5k every two weeks after
If you still require special conditions, do inquire with our staff and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Checking-in - While HyTech does not require RP, we do require regular checking-in until the Hyte is fully mature. HyTech will inform owners via PM every time there is a stage progression - thus, checking-in periods are as such:
♠ One cert/main thread post [or PM] per stage growth
♠ One cert/main thread post [or PM] every two weeks for non-growth periods
♠ This is only necessary until the pet has reached the adult stage
♠ There is a grace period of a week to make the relevant post
♠ Growth will not commence for the next stage until contact is made
[*RP not necessary - any indication of acknowledgement will suffice]
The reason why we require checking in is so we can make sure of contact in time for the outfit customisation of the adult stage. HyTech is usually quite forgiving for up to approximately half a year, but if no contact is forthcoming and everything falls into a state of impending extinction, don't be too surprised if Social Services comes around and decides to rehome one's Hyte…

Return Policy - If the owner tires of the pet, HyTech will accept a return and rehome the pet at reduced prices. There will be a partial refund of 1k to 5k depending on stage progression in such a case. While we do not perform exchanges, a previous owner may still purchase other pets in the future.

Speaking in Terms of Reality - While the owner owns the character of the pet and may display the images and certs at will, the art and character design itself is still property of HyTech, and must be credited as such. The artist reserves the right to display or use the artwork and pursue other avenues with the design. All better-sized images are accompanied by a background logo for our image protection - owners may request unmarked versions for the cert threads. Thank you for your understanding!

Welcome to the HyTech Merchandise Store - where you can buy accessories and items for your Hytes, as well as look at previously released Lytes and Bytes!
Accessories and items can only be equipped after your Hytes reach the child stage - it would be reallyreally difficult for babies to move and play with them on!

While our selection now is still quite small, we'll definitely be bringing in new products over time~

. LYTES .

These dapper little creatures are just what their names imply - Hyte-lites! Coming up to about hip-high, they possess humanoid form and our trademark gem-like eyes, but retain more animal characteristics than the regular Hytes, spring full-form from their Prototype Containers, are mass-produced for events, and come dressed in their respective spiffy outfits! While they are too independent to be certed with your Hyte, they make excellent pets and sig-candy for yourself! While Lytes do have mouths, they are rarely visually captured with them, and indeed, some never seem inclined to speech - but many very much are! Some of the Lytes are designed to look obviously male, while others are designed to be androgynous enough to be whichever you decide.
♠ Each new type of Lyte is usually released in an event-limited run to accompany special events, whether as sales items or free prizes.
♠ They come initially enclosed in giftbox-shaped prototype containers, that self-release on the appropriate date to reveal your new Lyte.

Grab a Byte for your Hyte - or for yourself! Sentient and intelligent, these little guys make great companions for your Hytes, or cute little pets for yourself. Bytes were first created when Demi baked a batch of Gingerbread People at Maxx's behest that were somewhat too…severe for any of us to consider eating - making them perfect test subjects for Jun's newly conceived molecular-assimilating artificially-sentient reconstruction nanites. By assimilating the molecular code of the food item, the nanites absorb and reconstruct the item, adding suitable protective volume and a singular sentience to form a self-contained, mobile, and fully sentient construct. They're just like little [food] people - and while some Bytes never seem inclined to utter a word, some never stop talking!
♠ Each new type of Byte is usually released in a limited run to accompany special events, whether as sales items or free prizes.
♠ They come initially enclosed in orbs, and when the nanites have finished reconstruction, the orbs will self-release to reveal your new Byte.

Anyone can grab a Byte - whether you own a Hyte or not!
If you do own a Hyte, you may opt to have your Byte added to your Hyte's cert as a companion.

Note: If a piece is broken off, the missing portion is automatically reconstructed on the core item - the nanites in the separate portion will then dissolve tracelessly,
rendering the piece as freshly edible as it was on the day it was made. So don't worry about poisoning your Hyte!

Generation is the HyTech equivalent of breeding: while the physical act may be performed at will, essentially DNA is extracted from the participants and spliced to form new hybrid organisms. Regardless of the hybridity of the participants [i.e. even if the sire or dam is a double-animal genome hybrid rather than a single-animal genome original], all products will have a combination of only two sets of animal genomes - on the flip side of the same coin, all products will categorically be double-animal genome hybrids. The extent of the hybridity and which characteristics are inherited are determined by a highly structured process of genetic probability.

♠ Hytes become eligible for Generation upon adulthood
♠ All combinations of coupling [m/f | m/m | f/f ] may generate
♠ Participants have no parental obligations - it is merely gene-donoring
♠ Generation sessions occur at an average of once per year
♠ Each period will have two to three Generation slots [one coupling per slot]
♠ Each owner may choose to keep a maximum of one product per generation at the following prices [per product]:
25k for FlatsalexFlatsale | 30k for AuctionxFlatsale | 35k for AuctionxAuction
[ Applicable also for corresponding Custom tiers | Payment Plans are available upon request ]
♠ Donor-owners need not opt to keep a product, and shared ownership as well as gifting is permissible
♠ Donor-owners will be allowed limited customisation - more details will be given in Generation information PMs
♠ Generation Hytes [along with very little special event and RL$ custom optioned Hytes] will possess humanoid forms for their Baby stage
♠ The size of the litter normally varies from one to three products, with one product up for open auction from each coupling unless the donor-owners are strongly against it
♠ As all products will be double-animal genome hybrids, which are more difficult to render, it is likely that only the donor-owners will be able to procure them at flat rates.

To procure a partner for your Hyte, you may either contact the owner of its prospective partner directly, or contact HyTech to PM the owner on your behalf. Each Hyte may only participate in one coupling per Generation session.

Demi is… really smart. She's nice, but a lil' scary though; she talks about death a lotalot, and it gets unnerving sometimes! She's always dressed sososo prettily though! I think she's waiting for someone - she works here in the shop in the meantime. She likes reading, tea, sports cars, things to do with death, and…shetoldme "Things that start with 'Wild'" once…?

Belle is… really nervous! It doesn't seemlikeit because I talk to people all the time, and I mean allthetime but that's because I get reallyreally nervous if I don't! The silence always makes me feel like there's something wrong - or something might happen or anything! It's a little bit better now that I work in the shop; there're lotsandlots of kitties around [which I like] and everyone is reallyreally nice to me. I like to race, deliver messages, winnebagos aaaand Skylynxes.

Jules is… really cool! She's always confident and nice, and is totally comfortable to be around. She doesn't have to work here at all - she's reallyreally rich, but she fell in love with Quincy, who is an in-house pet. Awww!! I'm veryveryvery glad she's here. She likes books and art. She's around less often - she disappears for longlonglong times at a go, and then comes back just as chipper as before! Iwonderwhereshegoes.
