I will start by asking a question. The first person who answers it correctly will ask another question. The first person who answers that will post another question and so on.
Here's the first one:
Brahms and Rachmaninoff are only two of the composers that have written variations on which piece by Paganini?
Ha, the right person for the question ^^ (the name) Well this was simple, Rachmaninoff (whom which I love!) and Brahms both used Niccolo Paganini's 24th Caprice for Brahm's Variation on a Theme and Rchamaninoff's Rhapsody on a theme (which I am listening to right now :])
as for my question: (It is classical at its basis I'd like to think but cast it aside if it's not correct for this {can't help it's marching band season})
In this years DCI shows, Phantom Regiment had an extremely beautiful ending to their show! What Stravinsky piece ending did they use?
Oh, RIGHT. Thanks for reminding me, Septomor. I keep forgetting the E minor is also a posthumous one because it does have a opus number, unlike the other two.
The Premiere of The Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky was not delayed, Septomor; it was interrupted. The audience was... not receptive to such new and un-classical music and dance. People began cat-calling the dancers, and the noise in the theater escalated to the point where the conductor had to shout out beats for the orchestra (can you imagine doing that for this piece?). Stravinsky stormed out, the whole thing turned into a general riot, and the police had to be called in to shut things down.
Which piece by Dmitri Shostakovich is quoted in Bela Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra?
