Hello everyone,
In response to everyone's concerns about our new forum layout, I wanted to apologize for not having shown everyone the new design before we released the changes. As a team we were so focused on making improvements and fixing bugs that we didn't get a chance to ask for feedback. That was our mistake and it should not happen again.
That having said that, we had been listening to your feedback! We will be doing a lot of changes from your suggestions. From making it easier to differentiate between stickies and regular postings, to making navigation easier, we'll be spending a lot of time making the look and feel better than what it used to be!
Forum feedback thread
The real reason changes are made is because we completely improved the system which handles messages across the site. Aside from the look and feel, what we really spent time on are for some of the following:
- Forums now run faster and shouldn't slow down during events
- Profile, arena, and other areas now support more messages and run faster
- We can now make more fun features and events in our forums
Gone are the days of the profile system going down because we had trouble handling too many comments, and things shouldn't slow down as Gaia has much more members online. Being able to handle more than a million posts a day is something we've worked years to achieve, and this is one of the final steps toward completing this system.
I thank all of you who are patient with us, and we promise you that we'll listen and improve the look and feel right away!
