Alright, people. I was wasting time between shifts at work, and went to www.pointlesswasteoftime.com, which is a pretty funny, but offensive site. But that's a bit off topic. The important thing was a post:
Incidentally, I've written two short stories in two days, something I'd like to try to continue. So here's the challenge:
Every day, write a single short story. Unpolished, five hundred words or so. The next day, clean it up a bit, polish it, but leave it a little rough around the edges- don't labor over it, and also write the next story. They don't have to be connected, but if you just want to work with the same characters, or the same general plot, that's just fine, and it's what I'm doing.
See what you come up with after a week.
Alright, go!

There is an urban legend about a pottery class, where the students were split into two groups at the beginning of the term. One group was asked to make one pot a day, just working quickly and doing the best they could. The other group was given the whole semester to make one, awesome pot. At the end of the term, the pot turned in by the "One Awesome Pot" group wasn't nearly as good as that week's pot from the "pot-a-week" group.
That occurred to me as I observed Nedroid's recent attempt to dash off 200 bad comics within a few days. For those of you who've been sitting on some creative project because you're waiting for it to become perfect in your head, observe the power of the human mind when forced to just start making s**t. Of course, it helps if you're a genius.
