Hello and welcome to a music thread for my fellow melomaniacs and casual listeners alike. This thread is for sharing and being open to tastes other than your own. If you only want to post music and not participate, you are welcome to post elsewhere.

The content of each post should be as follows:

comment: Listen to the song posted above you and say what you think about it. Preferably a few sentences which shows that you actually listened to the song. You're not required to love it, of course, but this song is something someone shared presumably because they like it. Please be considerate of your fellow posters.

challenge: Post a song for the user below you to listen to. You don't have to be listening to it. Please link to said song, out of consideration to your fellow users as a lot of embeds can make it take forever for any given page to load. And if for some reason your song is deleted, having only an embed is a pain for the person trying to respond to you. If your song is over five minutes long, noting as much for the person below you would be a really considerate thing to do too!

cool: Share something you think is cool. As long as it's not hateful or against the TOS. Everyone has things they experience and see throughout the day that impresses them. Maybe someone else will enjoy it too.

The next post will serve as my example to make things less confusing. Have fun, obey the TOS, and don't promote hate.

Here's where my response would go. If I had anything to respond to. Three sentences is a good amount for starters but by all means, write more! Music is meant to be enjoyed.

Kroi - HORN

Also I started a collection of Alcobaca cats and now I need more. They are so cute!

Moonlight Ladykiller

Definitely got some funk to it whee I can absolutely see myself listening to this at work to get through the night. Another energetic song for the "I'm half an hour behind and need to put some pep in my step" playlist.

Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime

Oyster mushrooms have a lot of iron by dry weight. cat_surprised Maybe I'll try growing them with my spent coffee grounds?

While that song may have been from the 80s it still stands up today as a great song that never goes out of style. And the messaging behind it is incredibly relevant as well. Plus I envy David's glasses. Those things stayed on throughout all of that mad dancing.

Gorillaz - Melancholy Hill

Cold brew coffee was developed by Dutch traders as a method to make their coffee last longer by brewing as little of the acids from the bean into the final product by trickling either cold water or a block of ice melting through the grinds into the pot. The lower temperature pulls the taste and the caffeine without the acids that cause it to sour, making it last for days instead of hours.
I do really like this song and it's fun to sing along in my car ^^
I do like the little synth stings too, feels like I'm driving on the coast in BC when I'm driving to the city in Alberta.

Fun Cool Fact: Wool and linen are great to wear in very hot climates. Especially camel and Merino wool as both have particular venting qualities that certain other wools don't have and prevents chafing unlike cotton, which absorbs sweat like nobody's business! Linen also keeps you smelling relatively fresh too!

About as far from the usual songs I would listen to...yet I liked it! There's something oddly mystical yet slightly post-apocalyptic about it? I'm gonna share it with my friend as it seems right up their alley.

(Going with a classic that's been stuck in my head the past few days) "Dragula" - Rob Zombie

Cool Fact: If you were to take the intestines of the average human and unfurl them, they'd ******** die. The most distant and oldest object we've seen in the observable universe is GN-z11: A high-redshift galaxy that is approximately 32 billion lightyears away. As such, GN-z11 is observed as it was 13.4 billion years ago: Just 400 million years after the Big Bang! (Here's hoping the James Webb Space Telescope will uncover even more fascinating objects!)

Ah, Rob Zombie. I had the remix album Super Sexy Swingin' Sounds that I would listen to on repeat as I played in the campus computer lab for hours on games like Quake 2 and Starsiege: Tribes. I love the amount of 'oomphf' that you get from his guitar style on top of the percussion. Could definitely go for listening to some of that again. Funnily enough the next video was going to be the DJ Cummerbund 'Shaxicula' video. rofl

The HU - Wolf Totem

During World War 2, actress Hedy Lamarr co-invented a frequency-hopping device for radio controlled torpedoes. This technology would later be the foundation for Bluetooth and WiFi as we know it.

Humorist

Just... pure badass. I love everything about this song (as I always love less-known Asian countries folk music) and even The Hu as well. Cool as hell. Rate M for Manly!

Hassak - Құрманғазы

Did you know that The Elder Scrolls is actually the first series that introduce "good version of orcs" before Warcraft?

Lavish Vampire

Wow, very interesting! This definitely sounds like a you song. The women musicians are super talented to be playing with all that heavy garments and jewelery, and their vocalizations are so incredibly dreamy. The music gives me imagery of witchy women dancing whilst holding hands in a circle. I adore it. I think this song would be killer to listen to while reading a fantasy novel, it would totally make me more immersed. It's a beautiful and spiritual song, thank you for this. I believe this song is turkish? I don't know much about the culture but it's so lovely, I should listen to more!

Kate Bush- Wuthering Heights

Hmm... If you in need of a Hydrating Toner I'd highly recommend I'm from rice toner. It feels so nice on the skin and it's cruelty free, fragrance free, and vegan!

I had heard the name Kate Bush before, but I know I haven't heard any of her songs until now as I was not prepared for her singing voice. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. It did make some of the words difficult for me to hear, but the music itself was really nice and her voice mixed with it quite well. On top of that she is a really good dancer (some ballet in there if I'm not mistaken). I could see listening to more some time.

Disturbed - The Sound of Silence

In reference to the song above, Paul Simon said that this was the definitive version to what he had originally created. High praise for a cover.

I've heard this song before. It's actually my favorite version despite both being good. Disturbed has a few songs that I listen to often this being one of them.

Intra Venus

I'm starting a horror collection, the first thing I bought is a Pennywise spider figure.

Petty Pizza Problemz's Partner In Crime

Pest

i liked the melodic parts of the song (when the singer came in and the violin) but the rest of it i really found myself waiting for some sort of change to occur. i really did enjoy his singing voice. at the end of the day, prog is really hit or miss with me - much to the chagrin of some of my friends sweatdrop

grumpy plum - fony

taco bell is apparently looking into more sustainable packaging for their sauce packets. it sounds like it's going to be along the lines of recycling/repurposing the packets after you've used them? as someone who likes taco bell more than they should and usually has a few packets around their apartment at any given time, i'm interested to see where this goes

I didn't notice until I was through the song once, but that was just posted one week ago today. Neat. The tune is really nice, but it did seem like the singer's voice needed to be mixed in a little more. Might just be my preference versus this style. The way the song concluded had me thinking there was going to be another verse before I saw the bar was near the end. It could grow on me in time.

Heilung - Krigsgaldr
(Warning: 9 minute song!)

The creator of the K-Cup/Keurig, John Sylvan, regrets it.

I'm glad that you found a new band that you really like. User Image They've come up in my youtube suggestions a lot and I can't say I ever would have thought they would be an appropriate suggestion for you lol. Why is the buildup soooo longggg on this song lol. Like three minutes worth. I think half of that would've still been effective. And omg the description and their disclaimer. I can only imagine what kind of horrible things are/were in the comments. But yeah. I like the contrast between the vocals and the spoken word. Once it got through the opening forever and ever, it was an easy listen and I wasn't impatient while I was listening at all. Definitely a band where a person listens to a lot of them for hours to enjoy the sound rather than cherrypick catchy songs.

TNP, come and have a pool party with Mylène Farmer and me.
Mylène Farmer - Libertine

Since DJ Cummerbund was mentioned, I just wanted to say that he's the only mashup producer that uses Macho Man Randy Savage in every mashup and thusly the only mashup producer I endorse.

cellohell's Honey Bun

Greedy Capitalist

Funky at first few seconds! Not a fan of the singer's voice though - it seems disconnected to the music like it was recorded separately or something. Overall, though funky, I wouldn't give it a second listen.
Here's mine for the next person to peruse! Yellow - Katherine Ho (coldplay cover)

Also my not so fun fact is that currently there's a launcher spiraling towards Earth (its direction is currently around the area of the Maldives). It's still moving but good thing is Earth is mainly just oceans so it'll likely fall in one. The rare case that it does fall on land is scary because it weighs just about 22 metric tonnes.
