Just a quick refresher of the basics. Literally don't know why I typed so much. If you liked this then please heart it cuz I still haven't earned the Popular achievement yet.
tab First of all, it IS possible to connect to the servers, if the light blue bar at the bottom doesn't change after 5 seconds then just refresh and try again (thanks to 2sammygate for reminding me to mention it). Basically, click stuff to target, then click on the attacking rings to do damage. Click on yourself or another player then click on a buff or heal type ring to buff/heal them. The red bar on the bottom left is Rage and u can fill it by buffing others(the defense buffs mainly) or by killing stuff. Rage allows you to have strong effects when using any ring, you click and hold on the ring and then release the left mouse button to unleash a Rage attack or buff. Full rage, r4, gives strongest effect. Half rage, r2, isn't as strong but is still very useful, such as r2 Wish to heal a crew member in smob (a name for Shallow Seas area run where everyone quits crew before the sea lab area). There's a daily platinum cap of 50k plat for zOMG iirc, meaning you can't earn more than that in a day.

tab Sometimes you get these purple spheres called orbs, which you can use to charge your rings to higher levels (max lvl with orbs is 10). As you level your active rings (ring in the row on the bottom middle of screen), your overall level increases too. Different areas of the map have a level cap where once you reach or surpass a certain level the Animated (things that you can kill, and they tend to attack you first) leave you alone but you can't earn stuff for killing them anymore. At that point, even if they don't all swarm you, if you hit one and don't OHKO it you will be attacked. Same is true for ones that don't attack you even when you're below the area cap. Boss fight areas automatically adjust your level for you, you know that you're trying to enter one when a popup appears onscreen asking you to choose a difficulty (unless you're in a crew but not the crew leader, then they get the popup if they haven't already tried to enter before you did, otherwise you usually go right inside).

tab There's these giant purple crystals you might see in each main area of the game, it's called the Null Crystal. Click on it to go inside. The NPC in there might give occasional tips if you're new or hadn't turned it on yet or accidentally turned tips back on. Inside there will be smaller crystals that represent the other main areas. You can't cheat your way into new areas by using them, you gotta find the big crystal in each area first before you can tp around the world. If you only get to two of them then you can tp between those two areas and so on. There are three big areas that do not have Null Crystals, two can be reached from Gold Beach, one can be reached from Bassken Lake too (Buccaneer Boardwalk), and one is above the first main area and is below Bassken Lake (Barton Town). They do however have an NPC that will give you free stuff once a day, like all the main areas do.

tab Map on top right side of screen, has Recrewt button so you can invite peeps to fight bosses with you. You can buy powerups at Backalley Bargains (founded and owned by NPC Nicolae) using GC. Best to save those for smob and Dead Man's Shadow(new boss area entered from Dead Man's Pass boss area, called DMS for short) runs, especially DMS runs (point of doing that area is to get Shadow Orbs, to lvl ur rings past lvl 10, max is 20). Defib ring helps to "Revive" other players, people generally don't carry it for DMS in favor of more useful rings since correct buffing and knowing when to go off to the side & kneel keep people for dying (getting Dazed). You die, you have to go to Null if you aren't Defib'd or use a Revive powerup to be able to heal. Most of your rings will temporarily be locked but will slowly unlock in a minute or so. Ring order only matters for unlock order(left side first, right side last). Some NPCs have quests, some quests repeat if weak enough, do quests in order from weaker areas to stronger areas for the game's backstory. You can manually lower your level somewhere on the bottom right in any area of the game, but you can only increase it back to normal in Null. There's also an in-game chat where u can talk to any player you see on screen (they all see what you say), or you can Shout to everyone in the same main area as you (you can only see responses of people onscreen or people who are Shouting back), or for just your crew (no visible speech bubble, words only appear in the chat area). The whisper feature is broken and hasn't been fixed yet.

i forgot to tell that newbie about colors and enemy strength

also you should mention the server issues so newbies don't give up. if the bar doesn't start to change within 5 seconds of attempting to connect, refresh.
