Hello once again Scienteers, and welcome to the weekly EI Report! ...Or at least, that would be the case, if not for the fact that I don't really have a report for you so much as an update! I've got a rather huge presentation I have to give next week of my findings on one of my projects that's eaten up much of my time in the recent past—and also, I must admit with a bit of pride, I have been asked to give a speech on the dangers of improper safety and handling when in the lab. Of course, the people who invited me to give this speech may well have done so with the hope that I would denounce some of my own methodology in the process, but science and progress cannot be hindered by their concerns. My methods are perfectly ethical and totally not harmful. But, at any rate, the preparation for this presentation and speech means that the next report I will have for you all with regard to our AEI friend Hero's Journey will not be next week, but the week after, so you can expect to hear from me on Friday, June 3rd! In the meanwhile, if you didn't catch last week's report, here's what you missed:
- Hero's Journey:
"We have to find this white-haired man, then. If he had Aidah's locket, then he's got to know something about where she is," Vander said. "We need to find this guy and figure out what he knows, before it's too late. She could be anywhere right now, so the sooner we find someone who can help us find her, the better."
"So where did you run into this guy, Madeira?" Mason asked, looking at her quizzically. "He doesn't sound like someone who's from the town, where did you run into this guy? Was he staying at the inn or something? We should figure out where to go to find him—"
"Or else, he can find you himself."
The trio spun around to face the entrance to Voleur Den, where a white haired man stood, two normal eyes staring at them, the third eye on his forehead that didn't move, but stared at the space between them. "I understand that you're trying to find someone. I think I can help you with that."
"Who are you? How did you get here? How did you find this place?!" Madeira asked, taking a few steps back to put Mason between herself and the white-haired man.
"Bold words coming from someone who grabbed a locket out of my pocket and then turned tail and ran when I noticed that it was happening," the man replied. He ignored Mason as Mason's hand tightened around the handle of his blade, and instead looked directly at Vander. Even the third eye appeared to stare Vander down. "So, what will it be?"
Vander stared at the man, deep in thought. If the man did know where Aidah was, then the help would be perfect, but something about the man left him unsettled. He found his way to Voleur Den without so much as a map to find the place, and that was saying nothing about the eye on his forehead that was giving Vander the creeps. Either option seemed dangerous, but time was running out for Vander to choose.
Last week, I asked you all to help guide the decision that Vander would make, and now that the voting period has ended, I can announce that you all resoundingly voted for Vander and crew to trust the white-haired man! You are all a very trusting group of individuals, it seems. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, of course! At any rate, I must get back to my preparations, but I will have a proper update for you regarding our AEI friends in two weeks' time. Until then, Sciencers!
