Thanks for the feedback. We have our reasons for moving shortcuts to the footer, but acknowledge that there are some who prefer the old header setup. We originally had a more sterile-looking footer but decided to try to make the footer match the header based on user feedback. Also, you might try using the footer in collapsed mode if you find it obtrusive.

Can I ask why topics on this seem to be getting deleted?

I have no idea why it looks like topics have been deleted. I had some issues with a couple posts I was writing, too. This update is a pretty significant change to the site code, so our servers are probably stressing out a little bit which might have some odd effects on the forums? Either way, I can tell you that we are definitely not deleting threads.

It happened the last few major changes too. The database is just being wonky, I guess.

The one thing that I LIKE about this footer is that it does not show up on profiles. As a profilist, that is very relieving. Now I don't have to deal with matching it's ugly colors every time I make a profile.

Also, I would like to point out that to a partially color-blind person like me, the footer is difficult to see. Whenever it's nighttime, and the footer turns a dark blue, all I see is the dark blue. But when it turns daylight, the grass there becomes apparent. I actually like the dark blue one better. It doesn't /need/ to be fancy. Just make it the same color as the navbar and people would be happier. I can tell the thing doesn't match the rest of the site, and I agree it takes up a lot of space.

Instead of making it take up the amount it does now, it can very well take up half that space and /still/ do what you want it to do. I should know. I've coded and designed websites before, and the footer doesn't need to be that big to be usable.

Luckily, I have FF and can get the add-on to give me back the purple navbar until this whole footer thing gets fixed. If it doesn't, then I'll stick with my add-ons.

It's user-made, the topic is here. I believe all the bugs were worked out, but I find that navbar ultimately better than all of this. 3nodding

I've been thinking of uninstalling greasemonkey, cause the script I had been using to let me switch accounts easily hasn't been working. I'm glad I didn't! The purple navigation is so much better!

Oh, I had that script! I got the fix for it from the creator of the script if you want it, but it doesn't work with any FF version past 3.5.1. If you have 3.5.2, then it won't work, even with the fix.

What is the point of having a 'don't show the footer' feature if EVERY time you move pages, it pops up again??

I agree that it is not well matched with the rest of the site at this point, and I miss the 'my posts' at the top... Thank god for the tektek toolbar, since Gaia's intent on making it difficult to get at anything I want.

Drat. I no longer have it. sweatdrop I guess I no longer have the fix. Though, if you PM Absol - Ruler of Chaos, he may give it to you like he did for me. 3nodding
