For example, Smashblox. In order to be eligible for earning a reward off that game you have to pay money. If this was truly fair and a site of equality, why not have a gold spending option then? Wouldn't that also count as a balancing factor as well?
I don't know since testing if they've changed this since the game no longer loads for me.
Or another case, promoting threads. It's ludicrous they expect you to pay 100 GC just to promote your thread. Couldn't they give a gold option for that? Hello possible gold sink!

I am currently a member of Verge, and I can gaundamntee that's coming to an end right now.

This has been the month straight from hell, Gaia has made it obvious they no longer care about the userbase only our money. Until I see some serious changes in the direction of the company they will not recieve a dime from me.

Sure, I haven't spent here in a long time and don't intend to ever again.

I get that they're a business. I have no issues with them selling stuff. But I'm not going to use my dollars to tell them that shitty business practices are a-okay.

There's multiple methods to obtaining the almighty dollar, and I believe they've chosen the wrong path. I believe this is due to the new CEO who seems to have gained a reputation around attaching himself to places, pushing hard for sales that make him look good, then running off for another job before the long term effects of his methods reveal themselves.

The only winner here is him. My only regret are for the staff that are obligated to defend his actions and deal with the possible loss of their jobs due to him, while being completely aware that he has no ******** to give about their job security.

I've already been busily liquidating my inventory to buy art. May as well have something tangible to take away from this place before I mosey.

does anybody remember foopets.com? because i left there because they wouldn't listen to their users, and then randomly went, "oh we'll give you fd free on this wheel, nope nevermind, we're taking it off" a week later. when i came back to gaia around that time, i was AMAZED they talked to us. it was.... awesome.

now the only person i see posting here is uncle kenny, who really doesn't know much about what the ceo is doing, or handling. and it's for damage control.

*shrug* Just seems ridiculous to appropriate a movement that is trying to actively improve the quality of life for millions of real people who are really suffering and apply it to a totally optional website selling totally optional pixel items.

But that's just me.

I agree with this sad ! Im in the Occupy Monsanto Occupy food movement and i just wish people where more passionate on improving life than a website but what can you do. The same thing happened with pet society on facebook i never seen so many people rise up to fight against something than when the facebook game went down...its rather sad.

I admit that I'm no where near the most knowledgeable when it comes to all of the financial aspects of Gaia. I do know that there is something really crappy happening and A LOT of people are starting to stand up and voice their opinions and yet NOTHING is being done to show that Gaia is even remotely interested in their users opinions.

What saddens me is to see so many members saying that they are going to leave. THAT pisses me off the most. I don't want to see all of the amazing people leave.

IT IS WRONG.

GAIA IS WRONG.

This is getting ridiculous. I mean, I was willing to let stuff go and have faith that they would somehow find a way to fix things. The release of 2003 MC recolors kind of gave me hope that things were finally headed back in the right direction. But after seeing Flynn's booty released again I just can't see a light at the end of the tunnel anymore. It's ridiculous. Add my name to your petition.

Well, if nothing else, making folks aware of the Occupy movements in general, even like this, is at least advertising for the cause, right?

If one person sees the title, wonders what the heck Occupy is and looks into it because of it can be a good thing. Heck, the only reason I was initially aware was due to hearing about in passing on Gaia and looking it up out of curiosity. (I have no TV and don't really look at news sites)

I've only been on Gaia for around 3 months, but I made my account last year.

The reason I made a Gaia account in the first place was because of how beautiful everything was, and how user-friendly the site was. After actually using Gaia, I made some life long friends and unforgettable memories.

Now, those friends are leaving because they can't stand the way Gaia is changing.

What am I supposed to do now?

As much as I hate all the current "sales" and Flynn's Booty and Chest (since when is Flynn selling her body for Gaia? gonk ) I do enjoy the EI/REI's and gold shop items, so I'm keeping my AutoCash ($10 a month) as a way to support the artists, even if $10 is such a small amount on it's own.

I love EI and REIs too, but I can barely afford my apartment let alone Gaia, so all I have to work with is gold.
The rate that they're putting out new items and these Flynn things is making it impossible for anyone who can't throw down real money to get anything anymore with MP inflation. =[

I know what you're saying, but Gaia does have other ways of making gold, besides the MP, and when people stop buying in the MP the prices will start to go down again. Along with whatever Gold Sinks Gaia thinks up.

I think of it more as a waiting game. Save up your gold and start earning more (even if it's little or slow amounts at a time) and wait till the prices fall. Sure it's not the fast and easy way, like spending Cash is, but Gaia is changing (not really in a good way) so it will take time to adjust.

So I don't think NEVER spending Gaia Cash again is a solution, for a few months maybe? but never again seems a bit steep in my book. But think what you will, no one can stop you. wink
