I've been a member of Gaia since '04. When I got a job a year later, I was so excited to finally donate my hard earned money to them in exchange for a MC. It was so fun being part of that elite group who had an MC as well as being happy that I could help support the website I loved. And when the EI's came along, I happily obliged. They were so cool, how could I not!? And besides, what was a few dollars here and there? And again, you felt SO cool because you were in that elite group who had one of those amazing items.
And then I left Gaia for a few months at a time, got too busy with school and work to spend as much time as I wanted on here, but I would still check in. And I was appalled. Soon, I could barely recognize any items on anyone's avatar. The items we'd been begging for in the Petitions forum were ONLY available as RIGs. How was that fair?? Of course, I wasn't dumb. Why would they not put the items we'd been crying for as a RIG, knowing we'd all sink our real money into something for the mere hope that we'd finally be granted that one shining item we'd long dream of obtaining!
And now, now I don't even know what to do. Gold is stupidly easy to come by in large quantities, but that will still do nothing for you. Everything you ever dreamed of having is sitting in the MP at ridiculous prices. I remember when items weren't listed above 100k, and now they're in the trillions! I remember when Fairy Wings were an oft-quested item, and now I could buy them with one grant from the Daily Chance. And we're CONSTANTLY bombarded by stupid reminders to spend our real money on their recolors, on their gold-granting items, on their RIGs. I remember when site updates were exciting! New items! New games! Yay! Now, it's 10 messages a day about stupid sales. No THANK YOU.
I refuse to ever give them a cent of my money again, and I'm almost mad I did it in the first place.
No, Gaia won't collapse because we have stopped giving them our real money every ten seconds. It existed JUST FINE on MC's alone, and honestly, we don't really need a billion new cash-only items every day. Also, I'm still highly bitter they abandoned zOMG. They built us up for years, dazzled us, then said "meh" and left it alone. Dumb sad
