I've read a lot of replies and I assume this is just another same response already written.

First off, we all know Gaia is surviving on the cash we pay. I personally haven't paid in a long time on here simply because I just don't care nor do I feel moved to spend money to make my pixels pretty. Games like League of Legends, Eden Eternal, and Gaia rely on cash through purchases that would get consumer's attention.

Secondly, no one is EVER FORCING you to buy cash. It's a struggle sometimes to earn gold. There are PLENTY of ways of getting Gold yourself. You're all crying because you can't afford $10, which is nothing for plenty of you, because the cool fancy pixels are overpriced.

This thread is a lost cause in my opinion. For the adults who play they MAKE their money to pay for these luxuries. Let them do as they want with their money. Same with Teens. I'm not doubting that at least over half of you crying about this are children without allowances and jobs.

I completely understand it's annoying that you may never be able to purchase those items that are billions now. I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND. However nothing comes free in life. You want a game or chat that give you stuff for paying? Go play monthly subscription games. I can recommend IMVU for that manner as long as you're 13+ They have GREAT stuff for money, it is free but paying is worth.

I assume you won't but I believe this thread is going to die out and should just be removed all together. You can't always get what you want; remember that.

Someone said it finally. It's one of those, damned if you do, damned if you don't deals. Put money into if you want or don't. Many forget there are also free ways to earn GC as well.

Your points would be totally reasonable if we were dealing with ethical sales points, and reasonable prices for reasonable product. I am cool with that. And I have, and will buy things in the future IF Gaia gets their s**t together. Their s**t is clearly... not together.

I am FINE with paying money to buy item generators. I loved them. I loved the little game play, and story lines. I am NOT FINE with Gaia releasing gold gens, and shooting the economy in the foot by flooding the marketplace with gold. This isn't just inflation, this is hyper inflation. My account jumped from about 1 bil net worth to 40 bil net worth in a month. That is not healthy, or normal, and its because Gaia marketing teams are choosing to sell gold. Either Gaia marketing is intentionally destroying the marketplace, or they aren't paying attention. Either option - a notch on my "I don't trust this business enough to give it money anymore" belt. This is not a tough cookies, the economy is rough issue. This is plain and simple poor sales tactics ruining a gold economy.

On ethical sales. I have seen several high priced recolors simply be sub par hue changes. Its low quality work (several users produced better quality recolors in under and hour) for astronomical prices. This would be irl slapping a $100 price tag on a pair of ill fitted, poorly made wal mart jeans simply because you stitched in your designer label. This is not ethical, or solid business practice. This causes deep mistrusts in your userbase. This is passing sloppy, rushed, work as quality product. This is not okay. It continues to happen. Each sloppy recolor is another notch on my "I do not trust this company" belt. There was also almost clear cut bait and switch with an item RIG in early Dec/January.

The spam. Goodness the spam. There are 15+ "announcements" a day and now PM spam on cash sales. There are no opt out buttons. I am... frustrated (is an understatement) by this irritating, and ineffective sales technique. Another notch to my belt.

To close. I love what this site used to be. I was perfectly fine with a few irl cash options. What I loved the most is I could post to earn gold, or spend money. Questing was absolutely a reasonable and doable thing. Now? Not so much. Not with items hyper inflated into the billions. I can't quest for what I want anymore. I have, I must, I am railroaded, into spending money to get what I want.

I like free sites. Not pay to win sites.

Pay to win..? You don't "win" anything here. MOST free games will have in-game purchase opportunities. The only free games I can think of are flash games and little baby games made for young children. You just complained about the announcements, don't look at them if they bother you so much. They annoy me, but I'm not going to let something bother me that they're taking the time to make for sales and new items, etc. You literally just complained to complain. Your only strong point is the recolors. I see a few that could have been better, but they didn't even have to make a recolor so we could enjoy items in multi-colors. This is a dress up avatar site. "Winning" here constitutes achieving an avatar that you find pleasing to your eyes. That is what I mean by win. And by pay to win I mean this. Gaia wasn't always pay to win. I could reasonably quest for a high gold item. I did this with my Lucky Cat. It took me a good 8ish months but I got him. By booty grabbing, buying a few things and selling them, and posting. Most of my 45mil pure I spent on that kitty, came from booty grab, and posting.

Now? I am railroaded into buying items for real money no matter what. Hyper inflation has destabilized pricing. My Lucky Cat stayed at about 45mil pure for the whole 8 months I was questing. I am unable to reasonably quest for items with free styles of attaining gold like booty grab and posting for gold. Oh, and shaking trees in towns. I am also unable to ques because of the highly unstable market inflation.

Questing with free options is not an option anymore. That makes Gaia not fun anymore.


Again I do NOT MIND MICROTRANSACTIONS I HAVE BOUGHT 2K OF PIXELS FROM THIS SITE.

I do not mind buying GC. I do mind being swindled by a poorly run company.

Boy did you say that right. That is why so many users, like me, are crying for an opt out option. I don't want my announcements header clogged with stuff I don't use. I don't wanna look at it. I don't want to be bombarded with 15+ adverts a day. I want an opt out option. Furthermore, I don't want PM box spammed with sales adverts. I want an opt out option for that too.

I am saying my grievance with this site and providing a fix for it (opt in button). From where I come from that is called constructive criticism. I seek to improve the outcome of this company and my gaming experience because I care for this company. That is the point of SF - Site Feedback. Its a place to give praise where praise is do, and bring forth constructive criticism for staff to consider.

People who are going "STAAAAAAAHP" or people who are just bitching - ya I get. But I offer fixes, solutions, and compromises.

Gaia doesn't bother me. I love Gaia. I love avatar based forum boards. What bothers me, is how Gaia is being ridden into a lather and stabled without a rub down. That is a good way to kill a horse.

I love this site, and I will stay here. I have resigned I will never "win" again. I have 3 avatars costumes I switch between, and so they shall stay. I value the personal interactions, and friendships I have here over a dress up doll system. I value being a long term thread owner over a dress up doll system. To ask me to leave, because I am giving valid, constructive criticism to a company I have patroned long term... is stupid.

The new management is running this site into the ground with poor marketing, removal of userbase to management interfaces. The ATA is gone now, there is a supposed staff to user blog that hasn't had an update since Nov 2013. That is what made Gaia special, and BETTER than those other sites with crazy economies. There was user to staff conversations. Staff listened. Staff responded. Staff made corrections for the better of the site and user experience.

That doesn't happen anymore.

Also, I am directly choosing to ignore your condescending tone. I don't think its intentional, but I think you should be aware how you have addressed me comes of as really, really rude, and really, really unnecessary.

I let it be and move on. If they are obviously not doing anything then it's not worth the time trying. Gaia is free to do what they want. I promise you they have better things to deal with than a small bunch of unhappy costumers.

I think Gaia forgot this is a game. Aren't we suppose to spend time on the site and earn rewards that way? All this is now is a huge virtual store selling virtual items for real cash. Personally I'd rather buy real items with my cash. In the past I supported this site with my cash as I viewed it as entertainment dollars. I used to spend a lot of time on here, especially when zOMG was popular. I again supported the item rigs because at least they created deflation for the items within the rigs. But now, it's all gg'c and recolours. There is no entertainment value left on the site. Every free game that was created or brought in through another site in the past several years is gone. The only new games are in The Playpen and, let's face it, they are pretty boring and not worth the gold you have to spend to play them. I'm tired of and insulted at being view as a lab rat and a giant wallet. Until things change this wallet is closed and my time on here will be minimal.

Small? *giggles* I am not an SF regular. I am an LD regular. I am seeing more, and more, and more, unhappiness throughout Gaia about these sales tactics. I think you need to look around ALL of Gaia before you appraise this movement as "small". Perhaps, you don't give a ******** about them. Cool story. We do. And we will be heard. That is true, but with the constant ads and flash sales, it pressures people to buy and buy without giving a second of thought about their purchase. People get scared that the item they like will be gone from the store in a flash. However, this isn't the case because a couple hours later or a day or two later they rerelease the similar item with a recolor at a lower price. It's dirty marketing and unfair to people who paid for the item upfront. No one in the userbase is "winning".
GC users and GG users are equally losing.

I will agree that the person you quoted was a little out of line with the cursing. As for the ads and their effect on the users (young and older with and without jobs) it's overwhelming and nerve wracking.
