I'm just going to voice this concern of mine here - I have been lurking this topic for awhile and I just wanted to say this - Please be careful as to what you post here on Gaia concerning hewhomustnotbenamed otherwise your are in the firing line to getting banned, I am not defending Gaia but I am defending you guys and giving some advice, so please, please be careful!

At this point is it really much of a loss to be hit with the ban stick?

You may feel like that at the moment, but I think you would regret getting banned if you do get banned, alot of people actually regret losing all the items that they worked so hard for and regret the reason for them getting banned (if there is a good reason behind it)

All I'm saying is that alot of people have posted in this topic about hewhomustnotbenamed and I'm just getting worried that that would lead them to getting banned and that the staff would also lock this thread, and I know that the OP put alot of time and effort into this thread and he/she would be pretty upset if it got locked all because someone said the wrong thing out of anger and frustration.... sweatdrop

This is not the Gaia I signed up to be a part of years ago.
This is an out of control, money-hungry piece of crap that doesn't care about the people who can't afford to drop real money on this site.

All too true. My computer crashed, so I wasn't able to be on Gaia for a couple of years until I finally scraped the money together to get a decent machine once again. I come back, and what do I see? Ads everywhere--including HAVING TO SIT TROUGH F**KING COMMERCIALS JUST TO PLAY A GAME--stupid, worthless RIGs... oh, don't get me started...

When I signed up, it was about having fun, making friends, roleplaying... in short, a virtual community. Then they decided to cut back on the World Map, claiming that "nobody uses it", lousy events (if they even bother), and emphasis on pay-to-play everywhere.

I'm disabled, and thus am on a fixed income. A lot of rank-and-file Gaians are either high school students (on allowances or with part-time minimum wage jobs) or college students (paying through the nose for tuition, books, etc., and thus having little extra to spend). Is it at all fair that people like us have to now shell out for anything worthwhile on Gaia? HELL NO!

It's just not the same anymore... it's like the site's just a cash cow to be milked until it runs dry, then butchered to make that extra few bucks out of the remains!

I decided that I would never buy another RIG again, since they're all just a waste of cash that I could spend elsewhere. And now I find out that they've discontinued the real-life merchandise as well? What the Hell, Gaia??

So, here's my suggestions, for what (little) they're worth:
1) Cut back on the RIGs. Instead of one every month/week, how about two to four a year? And make them less expensive, and better quality.
2) After a reasonable amount of time, sell older cash items for gold. That way, those of us that want those items, but can't afford to pay cash, can simply wait for them to become available in the gold shops. Not just the marketplace, but an actual shop.
3) Put more time and energy into developing the site and the fictional world of Gaia instead of all this cash crap. More people would be interested in the site if it actually had something worthwhile to offer beyond "Buy our virtual swag".
4) Bring back the real-world merchandise, and ADD TO IT! I love my Gwee, Coco, and Kiki plushies. I would have happily purchased plushies of some of my favorite zOMG monsters, resin figures of some of the better NPCs, or other items. I had planned to purchase more real-life Gaia merchandise, despite not having much money to spare, partly because I liked the site. Now that I find out that I can't, I'm absolutely LIVID!!
5) Modify the database so that permabanned accounts can be removed, and allow us an option to delete unwanted accounts. That would free up quite a bit of room on GO's servers, as well as letting the people who want to leave do so. And I don't mean simply deactivating accounts like FacePukeBook does, I mean actually deleting the accounts.

Of course, I know for a fact that these suggestions will be ignored, since none of them involve milking the Gaia cash cow... But I can still hope.
