Okay, I'll admit it. Gaia's going down the drain, and fast.
It had been for a while really. Ever since Flynn's Booty was first introduced.
Although I never did spend a cent of real money on Gaia Cash during my five or six odd years on this website, this is really not going well. First, the inflation goes off the charts and almost every single item that exists on Gaia started fluctuating as if the lifeline of Gaia depended on it.
And that was after just the first round of Flynn's.
They've been re-releasing it as well as other gold generator items over and over again, feeding into the inflation even more. Besides that, they've been using the marketing technique of advertising the best, most exclusive items EVER to be won to tempt buyers' wallets; when in truth, those items are classified to be what they are: exclusive, aka rare as hell and only available to about 1% of the Gaia population, which are the rich. Now the rich flourish even more, and the poor and middle class are suffering even worse, unless they purchase from the cash shop with real money. Remember when the most expensive stuff there was 999 gc a bundle? Nowadays we're talking $50, $100, perhaps even $1000 + for a bunch of pixels. Seriously, people with common sense would rather spend that on something useful in the real world like food, water, a roof over their heads.
So, okay. There's the inflation problem. I thought that was bad enough until they started recoloring items as if they had nothing better to do so they were probably thinking, "Oh let's change the color scheme of the most popular items, price them ridiculously high and see if they sell." It just so happens that the recolors often looked even worse than the originals. Because let's see... for instance, the new Kanoko recolors. A new mint green one and a gray one. This may be biased but they look absolutely terrible and not worth the gold or cash that they are right now. Besides just butchering perfectly fine original items, they've even started recoloring the SD dolls... Seriously?? It's like they're saying, "Oh we're out of things to recolor so let's try SD dolls." They butchered those as well.
And the new items. As far as I'm concerned, the Opera bundle, Pirate bundle, and a selected few of the Collectibles were the decent, if not only, good items. The rest? Well now the RIG items have things where only one item is actually nice, and the rest are overpriced junk. (Not to mention that the nice item is next to impossible to even quest to begin with.)
Desperate for cash much, Gaia? Stop treating us all as piggy banks. And what the hell happened to the community, that now no longer exists? Oh right, Gaia won't listen anymore, our opinions don't matter unless what? We bribe them with more cash? Ugh.
In no particular order, with all that cash Gaia has been earning why not invest some of that money into the following: An instant messenger for Gaians to use, since it is nearing a year that Meebo from Google, left. Also, how about vamping up zOMG! ? It was an amazing mmoRPG when it first came out, and it still has potential to be even better. Hire Devs to improve it, fix the bugs and glitches for good, add to it, let them do SOMETHING about it because right now I think most of the games are ridiculously lame and even zOMG has lost the spark it had before, and that's depressing.
I'd been a loyal user for a long time, up until last year, but now lately I'd been going on crazy-long hiatuses a lot more than I used to. I don't think it'll be much longer until I leave for good.
