Ah, I was on a 4 year hiatus before this event, so I missed a few things. I don't have a problem with the health boosts or nothing. Besides the health and energy potions, I personally think everything else was most definitely unnecessary. emotion_0A0

And the GC/gold ratio is everywhere lately. Monstrosity, currently evolving has an LBP of 2.3mil at the moment. This months MC is sitting at a LBP of 619k, Midnight Citadel single at 620k. Everything's unstable and all over...

And now I'd like to present to you a little visual representation of how the economy has very quickly gone to s**t:

The economy was so stable. And then along came Flynn's Booty/Chest.
Releasing Flynn's booty made the inflation so bad that it resulted in a goldsink. Then they rereleased it again
And again
I recently came back a week after flynn's was released from a 2 year long hiatus. I was actually shocked with how much everything had inflated. All of my items had doubled in price.
If you want to see this huge change yourself, make yourself a tektek. Any tektek will do. If you go into the MP and calculate what that avi would cost you right now, I can almost guarantee it'll be about double what tektek says (it stopped updating on August 25th).
I honestly feel bad for anyone who's just starting out, because unless they spend a lot of money, they're never going to be able to get items.
I understand that gaia DOES have to make money somehow, but rereleasing 03 MCs in the cash shop is kind of a cheap way to do it.
Seriously. 1000 bucks for an Angelic Halo.
I have, in the past, spent small amounts of money here and there on gaia, and that was fine. It was supporting a site I cared a lot about, but I didn't feel like I needed to spend money to be able to complete my quests and get the items I wanted.
Now it feels like gaia's almost OBLIGATING us to spend our money or we'll never be able to do anything worthwhile. You used to be able to get cool, exclusive items by spending those 10 dollars. It was an added bonus you could participate in if you wanted to, but it wasn't forced on you every other day with the addition of yet another Flash Sale. Now it feels like a way to buy your way to the top.

These flash sales and discounts are cracking me up. Like Red Mini Devil Wings... originally 149$ but omg now it's 105$! Like wow I so want to buy it now that it's ONLY 105$. Give me a break already.

I really appreciated the smashblox update, but since it came right before a rerelease of Flynn's Booty (AND Flynn's Chest) I'm side-eyeing it for now.
Funny... the same thing happened with the Halloween goldsink and another rerelease.
Makes me feel like there's a pattern of Gaia staff making a goldsink to cushion the blow of an unpopular decision they're about to make.

Honestly, though, when you run the numbers, making those adjustments to SmashBlocks is going to end up helping the economy more than never releasing a Flynn item again at this point.
Flynn things suck, but the staff told us flat out it'd be back. We need to start finding ways to fix things and incorporate Flynn into Gaia. Sitting around and getting all pissed about it hasn't worked and it will continue to not work, unfortunately. We can't convince everyone to stop buying it, so expect to see it next week and the week after that too, I'm sure.

If Gaia is getting advertisers to cover their asses instead of me, they could have the ugliest ads in the world if it meant Gaia would be worth getting on again.

And the site isn't too toxic for most people, hate to tell you.
Yes, most people are pissed about the changes, but not a whole lot are quitting.
And there are still a bunch of people willing to drop $50+ on an item, and I'm sure those few people are all Gaia needs and more to stay alive.

This is not just a problem with the CEO. He's just one man. You need to start looking at a bigger picture instead of being so bitter and uneducated about what's going on.

On the contrary, I got suckered into this whole mess after they centered the site. I'm well aware of the bigger picture, so you can stop with the patronizing thank you.

Yeah, complaining about the ad itself is petty. So what? If they're going to center the site they should at least try to get some good ads. Get their money's worth, so to speak. I'm just saying the thing looks out of place on a quality site like Gaia.

As for being bitter toward the CEO, yeah, he's just one guy. There's the COO (and all his antics), Gaia Online's shareholders (Sony & Time Warner), there's several other groups that have led to the current situation. But a lot of the stuff that brought Gaia to this point happened on his watch, so yeah, I'm going to blame him for some of it.

Honestly, I'm not surprised that most people aren't jumping ship all at once. For many of us (myself included) Gaia Online become part of our lives. You don't just quit something like that because of ads and outrageous prices. But given recent events, it seems like things are just going to continue going downhill.
