I know people keep leaving but, aren't the friends you've made here and on different threads/guilds worth staying for? Or is EVERYONE leaving too???

I will not let the shite Gaia has brought down on us force me out. No way will they take the friendships I have on here away from me too.

Sad to see so many go.

The internet is a really vast place, dear.
There's more than just Gaia to communicate with the friends I've made here.

Most of mine are already shipping off anyway.
The ones I do have left are upset I'm going, but there's Facebook, email, Skype and tons of other sites out there to stay in touch through.

I don't want to support Gaia by keeping it active.
I may be only one person, but I'll know I took a step away from a shitty business and be proud of myself for that.

With you there. I've been here since 'o7, steadily buying MCs when I can afford to in order to support the site as it has been my stress reliever since I was a kid, but god damn Gaia! I'M NOT MADE OF MONEY! As you said in another post, it's difficult to even afford rent. Canada (where I live) is in year one of an eight year recession, and this online community, the place I would normally go to to forget about money problems and so on, is heckling me to spend money more than it ever has or is required to.

I'd hate to see this site go the way of Rogers Wireless and become a heartless corporate monster that keeps pinching money out of its customers without remorse... Yes, I'm using them as a comparative tool because they are the worst and Gaia is moving in that direction. I understand that in order for the site to be a worthwhile venture for shareholders and the business proprietors alike, it has to be able to generate reasonable profit, you can't expect them to work their arses off for a business that doesn't grow its own feet, but they are not doing it right by their loyal customers. Hell, they aren't even doing right by their original staff and original vision for this community. It really is just disrespectful to us, as customers to this website our constructive criticism should be recognized openly and ACTUALLY dealt with, considering without us, this site really would be dead. It's such a shame to see this happen to a site that is unique especially for its community, but where will the monetary abuse end?

All that aside, from love to pain, I'd suggest putting up links to Admin's (albeit, quite lame) attempts to recognize yours, and other Gaians threads regarding this topic. I think I briefly read through one of their announcements about all this from a few days ago. If you're going to supply the community with your point of view, please also provide us with Gaia's responses heart

There's no freedom of speech on Gaia. You signed that away when you agreed to the Terms of Service.

But I'd be genuinely surprised if people were being banned just for mentioning him. More than likely, if any such bans are being handed out, it is a result of users who are either harassing him or posting information that really shouldn't be spread around.

EDIT: Since the poster above me posted something similar, I'll clarify. It's not a case of tyranny. The simple fact of the matter is that while Freedom of Speech is a noble ideal, there's speech that really isn't conducive to a healthy environment for either users or staff and Gaia has its own Terms of Service to protect against that form of speech.

I agree with the edit, however, it's not fair how everyone will pay for something a "violent" minority did.

And the worst part is that AtA is gone for good, just because these folks can't even take a non-harmful criticism or a question regarding the rampant inflation. Either this or they just "hand wave" everything with announcements.

I guess even if you do a respectful comment/criticism towards them, the result may be the same:

Oh, I doubt it. There's plenty of respectful comments and criticism that isn't getting people banned. The problem is that a majority of the "anti" are getting very worked up, and respectful flies out the door.

I also hope the same. Otherwise, it would be an immature decision from them.

I see. Good to know they don't have such 'thin skin' as I've thought. But once you engage into ad hominem, then, they have all the reasons in the world to take providences against the offenders.

Hehe. I was simply agreeing with you and requesting that you provide both sides of the argument, I'm sure the admin who created this site consider all of us as "full of hot air" as you put it, too. However, if you expect a serious evaluation of your claims and for change to occur I doubt that will happen if you're too busy insulting them and everyone else on your side to do that, then why bother arguing over it, you'll be ignored anyways. Also, those messages Admin has sent out were directed at all of us who have a problem, we can't expect them to single you out when there are hundreds of people concerned about this subject, they are a business with some ethic.

Oh, and you can find Admins responses regarding all this in the Community Announcements, both were written on the 16th of this month. Hope this helps anyone else who's missed them form their own opinions having been provided with all the information available now :nod:

If you read even the last few pages of this thread, you will see we are all well aware of these announcements and the complete lack of information and security they've provided us with.
A bunch of, "We're a business. We need to make money," cries don't count as an argument or validation for what they're doing.

We are not full of hot air here. We have worked very hard to come up with NUMEROUS suggestions for the staff to improve Gaia.
There are some here that are ruder than others, but we have given Gaia a LOT of feedback from people who truly care about this site about how their actions are making us feel.

Please don't come in here and insult this thread when you apparently don't really know much about it at all.

I was okay when they started seasonal sales [black friday, summer, etc] because it gave us time to save up GC for those specific times. I would use GC for CI's from time to time, but the fact that it's now being shoved in our face like BUY THIS, YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT. IT'S ON SALE.
