Hi, not staff, but for future reference, this is an auto tag that is added to take care of plural words and add the singular word form of them. They can be seen as the group of tags after the main bunch.

"Sleeve" is almost never a tag by itself. "Sleefe" comes from "sleeves", which is a plural word. The singular form of words ending with "-ves" is "-fe" so that's why "sleefe" is auto added. (Another example would be "knife" and "knives" or "glofe" and "gloves" )

Pretty much all plurals and singular are auto added. "Ships" auto adds "ship" and all words ending with -s and -es have the -s taken off ("capricious" and "capriciou", "legs" and "leg" )
Another type of plural are words ending with -a. "Gaia" and "fuschia/fuchsia" auto add "gaium" and "fuschium/fuchsium" which are not words (-um is the singular form, for example, "bacterium" and "bacteria" ).

Even though initial tags are added by the staff members, what I'm saying is all true because the system (which is a computer) does not differentiate between types of words - it sees the words as a collection of letters and given the rules I stated above, certain tags are automatically added. So it does not matter that "capricious" is not an actual plural word, the system sees it as a word with an -s at the end and removes it to auto add "capriciou."
Let me copy and paste this part again for you: all words ending with -s and -es have the -s taken off ("capricious" and "capriciou", "legs" and "leg" )

Going back to the glove example. The system sees "gloves" and creates the tag "glofe" b/c there exists plurals that have the rule "-fe turns into -ves" so going backwards, all -ves words need the auto tag -fe." That is why "glofe" is there.

Being auto-added, these tags don't even work, so searching "gaium" doesn't result in anything. That's also why I put in my blurb about "Sleeve" is almost never a tag by itself." Unless the artist or staff member knows an item has only one sleeve, they are not going to add that tag. Even in your report, from the tag "wing" and on, they are all auto added, because this item doesn't have just one wing or one eye or one leg. You can argue for one "undergarment" but the word itself is typical referred to as the plural "undergarments" (even hovering over the pose in MP preview, the text is "undergarments." )

English is a language full of exceptions. I don't know what all goes into the coding of the system used, but writing out every little exception for every English word is probably a lot to ask for. Down here, the staff members fixing tags aren't the developers working on the Gaia in the day to day. I would say that there are more important tag errors that staff could fix that actually effect search results, such as misspellings that prevent an item from being found, tags that indicates vital parts of the item (i. e. "eyes" on a set of facial expressions), and incorrect color tags.

If you would like to being up the mechanics of the system and how the rules should be changed, I would suggest bringing the issue up in the weekly Ask the Staff thread (located in the Gaia Community Discussion forum). There is a Pre-thread there right now because these AtS happen usually on a Tuesday. (Sorry for no link, I'm on mobile currently)

I simply thought it was a human error, but if the tags are automatically being appended by software with faulty coding, there isn't a human here that really does either, or it would have been fixed already.

it really is a resource problem that Gaia faces, and the staff members do fixes when they can. Unfortunately, it can't be a priority when they have so much on their plate. After years of neglect, we started seeing some fixes happen but with more items come more potential for mistakes so it all just grows. Users bring up this thread every once in a while, but like I said, too much on everyone's plate. *Sigh*
