so basically they are overpaying for items to post in plunder, to be likely be sold for way less - doesn't that kill the point of gold sink?

They have test servers, if they really needed to test things, why test on the live site?

My boyfriend who doesn't even care about Gaia (he only has an account to talk to me at work) is like "omg holy crap wtf? -speechless-"

if they wanted items for Flynn's Plunder, couldn't they.... IDK make them appear out of thin air!?

He mentioned they didn't want to create a ticket that way because it would create more work for the artists, which would be true considering tickets are a promise of service. However many there are, that's how many projects an artist will inevitably have to spend time on. I can understand why they didn't want to generate another one, but the way they got a ticket is probably the worst possible way they could have. Like, it's almost comical how terribad this situation is.

There is also the fact that they didn't HAVE to generate a ticket or buy one,they could have generated any other item on the site to be sold.

I think this is there way of keeping inflation up and preventing deflation,I strongly doubt this is the first time they've overpaid by 90+trillion on a item.
If you ask me,they're the reason why this inflation won't go away.
They generate hundreds of trillions of gold and throw it into the market and at the same time selling back the items they overpaid for,for a small fraction of what they bought them for.
Example:
Toss 133trillion at ticket
Sell ticket for 30trillion

This means they purposefully added 103 trillion into the market.

I doubt this ticket is the only thing that has been overpaid for...

I hope that, at least the culprit behind those PMs, and the abundance of lies going around is punished/removed.

We really don't need someone who will lie point-blank to the community like that, just to cover their a**.

I'm willing to bet ALL my Gaia gold that that's a shared account, just like the NPCs.
not to mention... well, they were all in on it.
I doubt a damn person will get punished.

Considering how the situation's been handled, I'm pretty sure this was planned/ordered. I don't know which department would be in charge of this, but I'm 100% positive that it wasn't only the artist at fault. They're just the biggest target since it was their mule who got caught.

Well, I'm not exactly aware of who was behind those PMs. Whether it was the Artist BlueAlaris himself, or if the account was used freely by multiple Staff members.

But it's how descriptive the lies are in those PMs that's troublesome. That a Staff member could lie to someone that in-depth. The same Staff members that have the responsibility of overseeing the community. Hopefully this is just an isolated case, and there's nothing to worry about.

Although, I can't help but feel unsettled by this. How can we trust anything they say, if we know they'll lie so casually if it suits their agenda?

No they are giving him the ticket back as well, but also any item he wants a long with it.

Unfortunately, this did not pan out exactly as we imagined. The intent of this was to make a good will effort to the user base and give users a chance to get some pretty awesome items. The items will still make their appearance in Flynn’s Plunder tomorrow, the ticket will make its during our next gold sink event.

How about a gaia win bundle+ or whatever? they should count as a item and they generator 2 tickets at a time. emotion_awesome
Imagine 2 golden tickets.
Recolors are easy and anyone skilled with a program can make a full recolor in less than 5 minutes.
What could be difficult is making 2 golden ticket items (12 brand new poses) with the hardest and most difficult poses you can imagine,perhaps full body mods with a background for each pose.

This thing makes me wonder just how many Gaia staff mules there are, playing their little games, jerking people around, tampering with the MP and contests, voting down threads critical of Gaia. I've always suspected some of these people who obsessively defend Gaia in the forums are mules of Gaia staff members or management. I bet they get a kick out of sneaking around and doing this type of stuff. They got caught this time, but it's anybody's guess how much crap they pull that nobody knows about.
