Welcome to Gaia! ::

Im tired of getting PM's about this Thread that I brought up around July. Whats done is done, I cant do anything about it sadly. If you have a problem with Unfair Banning ask the Mods about it, stop PMing me about your situation.

As for this Thread, I ask that any of you stop bringing this Thread back from the grave. Life goes on, and I also have other important matters I must attend too.

Take care and Good Luck!

I like that idea.
RIGHT TO A FAIR TRIAL.
But the people who DIDN'T BOT shouldn't get the punishment, the people who did bot should be the ones to get the s**t end of the stick.
Being one of the users who was banned I definitely agree. The way it is now it seems that if someone is reported the mods ban them without looking in to it. Personally I have no idea why I was banned, as I've only made one purchase in the past couple of weeks. So unless, that item was hacked or obtained with botted gold, then I'm completely clueless.

Your suggestion is reasonable. With millions of gold being gained through botting, we can only assume it is being used in the market to purchase items. Thus people who are selling anything are putting themselves at risk.

It doesnt really work to well if I am selling an angelic pendant for 240k and I get banned for being paid with botted gold. I should get my angelic pendant back and be on my way.

But on the flip side if they did that then botters would just use mules to purchase over priced items from themselves and claim they didnt know the user who bot the item was botting.

It is catch 22
Your idea of suspension sounds like a temporary banning.
I think this is an absolutely great idea, instead of banning people they should do it that way, is much fair as well. heart

Recently I was in the Q & A Forums and I noticed alot of Threads from users claiming that they were Perma- Banned because of having / receiving Bot Gold. Alot of these users had no idea what Botted Gold was until other users explained it to them. :/

Many of those claims are false. They just want their account unbanned, and they're trying all different means -- including lying -- to get their stuff back.

I don't think you need to worry about getting banned if you own a shop. Receiving botted gold is suspicious when you receive it and don't give anything in return (because it looks like you're helping the botter do the money laundry). But with shops, it's pretty obvious that you're selling them, not money washing.

Here are some precautions you can take, though:

--check the user's post history. If they're making like 700+ posts per day, you can pretty much assume that they're botting. Decline their purchase based on that reason.

--if the user has joined Gaia only a couple of days ago, and he tries to hand you a large amount of money, that's suspicious too. Ask a mod in that case.

Also, when people do get banned for botting, instead of filling out the contact form, they can PM a mod directly. That usually speeds things up.
There's really no way for you to determine if those claims are false. I know that I was banned for no real reason, or no reason that was explained to me. It makes sense for mods to look in to something before just banning someone.

Yeah, I guess you could say something like that.

My idea of a Suspension would be for Glitched Items and Bot Gold only, just to keep it seperate from the usual Temp. Ban for Trolling, Breaking the T.o.S, ect.

I agree that something needs to be changed. The whole idea of being banned without a trial just makes me paranoid. Although my idea would be to just temporarily ban their trading license while checking them out. That way, they can still enjoy Gaia if they're innocent (although they can't trade for a while) but if they're guilty they won't be able to spread more bot-gold until the verdict is reached.

Also, I believe the botted gold that got traded to someone should just be taken away. Why permaban someone if you're not sure that person is guilty? In real life people are innocent until proven guilty for a good reason.

You know, I actually agree with you there! That seems like a good idea to Temp. Ban their Trading Pass 3nodding

Hopefully the Admins / Mods will take some of our Ideas into consideration, we might just be able to help this site to get a little bit better, who knows? n_n

Charade You Are

I'm not saying all of them are false.

Under Rules & Guidelines:

- Botting. Using an automated script, macro, or refreshing feature to post or surf webpages in order to generate Gold (Botting) is forbidden. The use of any software or codes to generate gold without the need for you being in front of your computer is generally considered as botting. Anyone suspected of botting will have their account banned.

So that means that if they just suspect you're botting that you'll get banned.

I still think they should be able to look into the case some more before suspecting something of someone and result into a Perma-Ban. 3nodding

I for one find it odd that people are being completely banned instead of simply having their trading/selling disabled during the investigation. Disabling that accomplished the same thing, and allows the person to have access to their PM box for evidence purposes.
