Concerns with Nimoy Memorial Item

🐾 Or more specifically: Why Is There An [Animal] Version of “The Dress” and Not “Peace and Long Life”?

Ok first things first, I’m grateful to Gaia for taking the time to create free items for its users based on popular current events. It’s a nice gesture and a lot of users really like the items because they’re relevant to their current interests – this is a great way for Gaia to show that they do care about what’s important to their users and I think that’s wonderful.

Now that being said, Leonard Nimoy was a beloved actor to many and his passing has had a real emotional toll on numerous users. In contrast “the dress” is a viral sensation that’s so over exposed right now it’s actually begun to annoy plenty of people. Which one of these current events seems more important? I’d have thought that it would make more sense to include all of your users when making a memorial item that can be used to express a common sense of loss felt by the passing of an actual human being as opposed to making sure everyone had access to a garment whose popularity will undoubtedly leave just as quickly as it came.

Now I realize that some of the poses used in Peace and Long Life are not [animal] conversion friendly and that this might have played a key role in the decision not to make two versions, but it still would have been nice to have gotten something to show how we feel about Nimoy’s passing. Personally I would have been happy with any of the four poses being converted to the [animal] base. It’s rather frustrating when the human base gets the tribute item on top of already having a full set of Star Trek themed items while the [animal] base is hard pressed to find any item that could be used as a tribute.

Now I apologize in advance for sounding ranty, it’s late and this has been an emotional day, but I honestly think my complaint is a valid one and I’d very much like some consideration for the inclusion of [animal] base users in Nimoy’s tribute item. After being snubbed following Robin’s death I was really hoping not to have to face the same sort of discrimination again, not when in the midst of coping with the loss of someone as wonderful as Nimoy.

tl;dr Please wont you join me in asking Gaia for an [animal] version of Peace and Long Life? Thanks either way and may you all live long and prosper.

It would be nice to have a paws tribute....

Though I'm not sure how well the poses would be compatible with the paws avatars....

The arm pose and the ear pose might not work so well on paws bodies.....
The eyebrow and scissors should be okay though.

I do understand why ppl downvote the thread and feel miffed about this request.
However, I'd like to show Nimoy tribute, and showing that I like Star Treak on my Avi.
Which is a Paw.
It's the same with BRAIN's shirt. It's great they give us Freebies.
But it'd be nice if they'd think of those users that use and love the Paw Base, too.

I'd love a Spock Freebie for us Paws as well.

The arm pose and the ear pose might not work so well on paws bodies.....

We have elf fur with pointy ears
I don't really see why the ears won't work?
They could clip off other ears from different furs.
We have items already that do so.

And I think the arm pose would work as well.

I would like it if all gaia's newly created event and freebie items came as choice (pick a paw or human avatar item). There are some animal freebies that don't have human counterparts but it would be nice if they just created 2 versions from now on.

I wouldn't mind an animal version of the tribute item, but I don't want to sound too whiny in wanting a tribute item that badly. However, in terms of self-expression and due-representation, it's totally justified in wanting to show your love using a base that you love. 3nodding

I feel that it's a bit insulting to exclude the Paws from a tribute item, when they'd actually been pretty good about including them in others recently (i.e., Red Crescent, in memory of Monty Oum).

Gaia made the paw bases and time and time again, they get ignored. In the case of freebies, they should be made for both bases. Granted, I am not an item artist and have no idea how long it would take to convert these items to another base, but it's not impossible since they did it with so many other items already.

I agree. Granted I'm sure it was tossed together quickly since it came out hours after his death. But it's never too late.

All freebies should be for both bases. It was Gaia's choice to make two base systems, they should put the effort in to make it somewhat fair.
