Welcome to Gaia! ::

Well, I am done here. With the new changes that they have made to the watermeats in the last couple hours, my goose has been cooked. I didn't spend over $200 on an all WM tank to have it drop coins as slow as a cuttlefish with SEVEN fish glowing. Best of luck to you, Gaia. I hope that your economist has other things in store for your Gaia Cash economy.

I will just be hanging out here to talk with friends and such. I've spent $1,500 on your site since coming here, which I am sure is more than the average person. You screwed people over that were loyal here and enjoyed it. I won't be buying anymore EIs, no MCs or anything else that will generate income for Gaia. Not even off of the MP. And I will more than likely leave when I find something else to do with my spare time.

Toodles!~

I just noticed these new "fixes", too. I used to get a good amount of gold from BG tanks before, and now thanks hardly trigger (I flip through 20 pages of "high trigger" tanks to get a single two-fish game), only a small amount of fish appear and Watermeats are now constipated.

Gaia - you've lost a customer worth over $1,500. That's the first one. Ask yourselves - how many are you willing to lose? I'll say this in bold so you can catch it (yes, I'm going to start being rude now, seeing as you love to screw us over, I'll screw you over as best I can.):

Business which advertise on your site will do their research. How many users? How many have left in the past years? How many pay money? Why have the ones who've paid money left? Does it have anything to do with how Gaia runs its operations?

YES

Gaia - your advertising dollars depend on how well you treat your community. Why? I'll tell you why - we're the ones who'll end up going out and buying truckloads of Skittles, hundreds of games, subscribing to MTV's s**t-filled broadcasts and dumbing ourselves out with all the stuff you place in your game.

Your players are you cash - respect them.

I'm not a Gaia Cash user. I don't believe in wasting real money on ******** pixels, but there is something else I don't believe in:

Your business integrity.

I know you're busy. I know you're trying to figure this out. I know your analysts and artists and developers have husbands, wives, children and lives to live. What about your owners?

I dare you, Corporate - ask your community to participate in a solutions negotiation. I dare you, Corporate - include your community in your decisions. I dare you, Corporate - read up on your s**t.

Your Gaian Economy may be failing - but what use is fixing it if no one remains?
Gaia - you're a business. I take back what I said before.

You're a business - start thinking like one. Because what you've shown us so far is that you're incapable of acting like one.

I dare you, Corporate - contact me if you have any questions. I'd be more than happy to help you sort your s**t out and get some rapport going with your 80,000+ users.

I spent over a million gold on my tank just a couple days before they nerfed booty grab. It isn't worth all of it for what you get now.
There's not so many glowing tanks and when there are you only get 3-4 fish, even though I only go to the high trigger threads and all of them always have 17 fish. It's a rip off in the long run now. I highly doubt I'm going to get that gold back now, I"ll be lucky to break even. neutral

I have just spent 1 1/2 hours playing a 62 page invite thread, each page had 6 posts with high trigger tanks. I earned 10300g. If I did that for a week, I would earn an average of 72k. If I spent 3 hours a day playing (which would bit a bit silly and definitely unsocial lol ) I could earn about 140k per week. I not making any particular judgement on the recent nerf, I'll leave that for anyone else to consider from this little experiment, but from a player's point of view, that seems fine. From an investor's point of view, it's a different story.

I think they need to specify in Pin Phang the minimum gold a fish is likely to drop so people know what they are buying into. One wouldn't expect to buy an item from the cash shop with several poses, then have some of those poses removed later, and that is basically what has happened to some fish. The watermeats were bought because they performed in a certain way, then that performance was negatively altered, and that is unfair in principle.

I don't object to Booty Grab being tweaked to get a fair balance and not upset the economy, but I do think they need to be careful not to actually rip people off who are spending dollars here.

I do enjoy the game and I will still play it, but I'm not likely to invest a whole lot in it any more. At least in my case it was just Gaia gold, not real cash.

Overall I am very displeased with the change in "improvements" to booty grab of late. Although the lag issue has been dramaticially improved with this recent update at the expense of fewer gold drops. I believe it is an another attempt to curve this "artificial economy" and reduce inflation by adjusting GAIA's GDP which will not work unless complemented by a shift in the demand curve. Yes, Economics will tell you that! You guys better be re-releasing past MC or old rare items soon or else scream

Personally, this recent "fix" have deter me from playing booty grab any further. If I were to choose, I would choose the lag over the reduction of gold drops per booty grab game. Not to mention I wont't be able to beat my current high score of 1865, so I really do not have much of an incentive to play booty grab as often as before.

Investing in a tank full of "high triggers" isn't as enticing anymore.

Furthermore I believe that the aquarium decorations industry will now face a recession since gaians will be deter at buying more decorations for their tanks since they cost so much to begin with and are now poor investment vehicles. Just look at my tank, I love decorations, not just for investment purposes but b/c it makes my tank look and feel more lively.

I would recommend for the people upstair to increase the value of each gold coin dropped during a game of booty grab to restore some sense of fairness to the investors, players, or both.

I just played on some tanks with watermeats among other fishes and realized that they drop more coins now. Since they are still nerfed, so that they can't reach their limit so fast, but give a reasonable amount of coins within a minute now, I'm pleased. I want to thank the devs who listened to us and I think the tank owners will be happy too. heart

The Gaian gold inflation was ruining the enjoyment for other users. Nerfing booty grab was the best solution to this.

And sorry, but I find it difficult to be sympathetic to anyone dishing out hundreds of dollars for virtual fish.
WRONG.

Nerfing jacked up odds with RIGs should be the best solution, as most people who get such rare coveted items like Warmth of Apollo, Chill of Artemis, Ancient Naginata, etc... wouldn't be able to AI anymore.

Most people with high trigger booty grabs make A FAR LESSER FRACTION of what those precious, rare, RIG items inflate to.

i still don't see why this is so ABSOLUTELY IMPORTANT to your experience on Gaia. confused The point of a forum is to socialize. The aquarium is just something to showcase your fish collection. Some people spend gold and money just to DECORATE the tank instead of filling it with fish.

To spend $900 on fish seems ... ridiculous in my opinion. Not even a regularly filled goldfish tank costs so much.

Well it isn't fair for others because it's their only good way of income...
... ONLY good way? i'm sorry, but there's plenty else to do such as zOMG.
I also dislike it when people say I HAVE TO SOCIALIZE.

I'm sorry, but I've socialized A LOT and I joined in 2003. You think I still don't socialize on this site? Why can't I enjoy my investment in BG and socialize at the same time?

Just because you find it ridiculous doesn't mean it actually is.
I'm pretty much in agreement with most people here, where people have spent real life money, for this investment. We watched and found out how booty grab worked, and it worked for us.

Most of us don't even make those millions of gold most people mention. Some of us aren't artists who can pop out 100-200k per image. It's our way of making Gaian income.

Some people may laugh and think how pathetic that is, but that's how bad Gaia's gotten with all this inflation. And yes, I know what it was like back in the day when the site was without games and was all about socializing.

BG is not the bane of inflation. It makes a more an average user, but it's a very small problem compared to the EIs and RIG prices.

You can't expect making gold with your tank just by throwing in some high triggers, leaning back and wait. You have to become social and active by posting in the forums. And not just here and there. You have to post in many threads every day in order to make your tank visible for many people. The best place to show off your tank is the aquarium forum but joining discussions in other forums will help too. To get a nice profit from your tank you have to work hard. wink
User ImageI just went through 24 pages in a high-trigger thread, and only got 3 tanks to trigger.

SOMETHING is wrong there.

However, one of those tanks was just a single watermeat, and I was able to get 255 gold before the time ran out... so I guess that's a slightly good sign?

The cap still exists though, correct?
User ImageI have no idea what the cap is/was/will be. I heard it was 300, then I heard 250, then I heard 200.
