Lunatic

Two DSs? Whuzzuh? Who the hell has the money for that!?
What I want to know is if my SS will be forward-compatible.

Some of the new pokemon look pretty neat. I can't wait to see what that pig starter evolves into. Some sort of big, nasty looking boar perhaps?

Though, I'm fairly worried about how the older games are going to handle the newer pokemon. Will it have the time-machine type deal that G/S/C had when connecting to R/B/Y/G, making my SS unable to accept the new pokemon? I think that would probably piss me right the hell off. Some people don't have money to waltz out and get a new game every time they come up with a couple new rehashes of old ideas.
Or will they release a patch? If they do go with a patch, how will they get it to all the games/cartridges out there? And the Pokewalkers?

From what I know you will be able to send Pokemon from the fourth generation to the fifth generation, however, once they are in the fifth generation you will need to play a mini-game of sort sorts called Pokeshifter.

http://www.serebii.net/blackwhite/pokeshifter.shtml
Like the games in Generation IV, Pokémon Black & White have a feature which allows you to transfer Pokémon over from games of the previous generation. This is done in Black & White through the PokéShifter feature. In an as-of-yet undisclosed location of Isshu, there is a building similar to Pal Park of Sinnoh & Kanto where you can connect to past games for the Pokémon

To do this, you will require 2 DSs, one with Black or White, and the other with Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold or SoulSilver. Then, when you go to connect, you will see a new menu option in the Generation IV games which will allow you to connect. Like Pal Park, you send over 6 Pokémon at a time from your boxes. It is unknown if there are any time limits.

Unlike Pal Park though, the method of obtaining them here is a simple minigame. On the top screen, you wil willsee various bushes and the six Pokémon will jump between various ones. Your task here is to use a Bow which shoots out Pokéballs to try and capture them. This is controlled with the touch screen and requires good aiming. There is a reticule on the topscreen so you can see where the ball is likely to land. There is also a time limit to the capture here. We'll bring more as we get it

But, no one knows if you will be able to bring Pokemon back to the fourth generation. It is a strong possibility that you won't be able to trade back, similar to what they did between the third and fourth generation.

I know this doesn't truly answer your question because until the game comes out, no one knows for sure. =|

You forgot Hoot-hoot on the flying-type Progress banner. I want to see more unique type combinations. Almost anything paired with steel is nice.

I dont consider hoothoot to be the pidgey of gen 2.

Clean Sex Symbol

You needed two gameboys to go from Gen 1 and Gen 2 and vice-versa, this isnt some new concept.

I added 3 new sigs.
But I think Ill take this time to explain exactly why certain pokemon dont end up in the signatures.

One of the complaints for the newer generations is that the creators are running out of ideas, and critics often point out pokemon like bidoof, starly, wurmple, plusle & minun, etc. However, this is not them running out of ideas, its just that each region has its own species that fits a certain niche.

Now Gen 2 will often be underrepresented in these signatures, because, due to its close proximity to Kanto, there are many Gen 1 pokemon who fill their niche in both regions.

I have a 4 point criteria when it comes to determining if a pokemon can be considered a regional counterpart to one found in Gen 1: (note that pokemon do not need to meet all criteria)
Point 1: The pokemon is visually similar to ones from other regions
Point 2: The pokemon shares similar evolutionary stages
Point 3: The pokemon is obtained in a similar manner (this point mainly covers starters and legendaries)
Point 4: They are found at similar times of day

Now, to show an example of this, lets choose the new worm banner.
Caterpie and Weedle both fill the niche in Gen 1. They are both worms, they both evolve twice, have a middle cacoon stage, and evolve into a final winged form.
Next we have Wurmple, who is also a worm, and evolves twice. Its middle stages are cacoons, and its final stage is a winged form.
Kurumiru, while not yet confirmed as being a regional counterpart, so far fits the visual enough to grant its status.

Now there is an obvious absence of Gen 2 and 4 here, and here is why.
At the beginning of those games you can find weak bug type pokemon, however, they are not worms and do not share the same two stage evolution cycle. Ledyba, Spinarak, and Kricketot are both based on other insects/arachnids, have only one evolutionary stage, and are time specific.

With the new information they released, we will have a new batch of legendaries.
they are, not counting Reshiram, Zekrom or Victini

A dark/dragon evolving legendary
Steel-rock-grass/fighting legendaries
Pure flying legendary
electric/flying legendary
ground/flying legendary
dragon/ice legendary
and then 3 event legendaries

So thats 11 new legendaries, 14 in total
Is that really too much?
Not really, same number as Gen 4.
And only 10 can be obtained legally without some sort of event.

Hopeful Spirit

You don't? It's found in the early stages of the game, it's normal/flying, and it's part of an evolution stage. Although it's more like Tailow than it is with pidgey and starly.

Clean Sex Symbol

Its a nocturnal pokemon who does not visually match with the other flying pokemon, and it can learn psychic attacks.

So we found out no pokemon in gen 5 sill be related to any previous pokemon

Im a little disappointed, I like preevies and new evolutions

I was really hoping that Mamanbou would be Luvdisc's evolution...

It's a shame they're so related.
I love all pokemon!

And I hate when people are blinded by nostalgia to see that the games keep getting better.
