Here are all the nicknames I can remember without turning any of my games on:
Arcanine: Daishar.
Pidgeot: To'Raken.
Typhlosion: Firaga.
Ampharos: Thundaga.
Empoleon: Waterga.
Blaziken: Enfire.
Blaziken: Torch.
Infernape: Agraar.
Gyarados: Fearsiphon.
Ditto: Broodmommy.

My Ditto's name is from Dragon Age. I would have used Broodmother, but it doesn't fit...
Arcanine and Pidgeot's names come from The Wheel of Time series. Torch is obvious. My Infernape's name is an OC of mine. And the rest are from FF.

I tend to give my HM slaves less than desirable names, like my Geodude, Chunks, or my Golduck, DeButtz.

However, my HeartGold team had a nice theme going for it, or at least I thought so:

Meganium: Dolcissimo (means sweet)
Donphan: Fiertando (play on Fiermente, which means proud)
Dodrio: MezzoForte
Arcanine: Scherzando (playfully)
Lanturn: Luminoso (Light)
Absol: Crisis

I figured a name like MezzoForte would belong to an Exploud if anything. >_<

And your Donphan is "proud"ing? x_x

No, a name like Fortissimo (Or even TripleForte) would be formidable for an Exploud. Mezzo forte isn't a very high volume, but it isn't a soundblast either, which I found suiting for a screechy bird with three heads.

And, pretty much, I was looking for my Donphan to have a name that means "to be exhibiting his pride."

Luna, my Espeon (female, BTW Luna mean "moon" in Spanish).

Eve, my shiny Leafeon (female, deceased).

Mugetsu, my Absol (female, Mugetsu means "without moon" or "sky without moon" in japanese).

And Lucy, my Lucario (yes, a females too, I was pretty lucky ^^, I miss you T-T, yeah, she's dead too).
