Anyways, I'm not really that used to markers, don't use them that much, so critique please? :3 Also, I already know the eye patch kinda failed... -___-; And the hair is a little darker in reality, but my scanner doesn't like bright colors so it makes everything white. :I

I don't know how much crit you wanted, but here's a few things I noticed:
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

  • The coat doesn't reflect her figure. The cloth should follow her curves more.
  • The marking on the collar made it more symmetrical. I don't know if you wanted it to be symmetrical or anything, though, so that was just my two cents.
  • Her eye is a little too far to the right (her left).
  • The arm lengths are a bit inconsistent. Watch out for that.
  • Don't be afraid of thumbs! We like thumbs. They help us grip things, like staffs and hips. biggrin
  • Left (her right) leg was shaped up a bit more. Some folks truly do have very little calf muscle, but there should be a bit more visible than that. (Btw, I like how the wing-thingies on the boots came out. Nice!)

As far as the coloring goes, don't be afraid to play with colors. I don't know how many markers you have, but even with a fairly limited range, you can get some amazing effects with layering. Purples and blue are really nice for deep shadows. It'll give your character more depth. Experiment and have fun! biggrin Keep us updated on what you create next!

XD nubs these days....Well it looks very good! Definately not worthy of a nub voting down the thread >:U

Oh and as far as scanning issues, I had to start using my camera because some of my drawings started to get too big for my scanner XD But I do that cause i color em digitally, using Levels and Brightness/Contrast options in paint programs might be needed because of how the camera picks up the light. The flash doesnt help much....puts a bright circle in it making it a bit hard to clean up.

Thank you, that's really helpful. ^u^ Hahah, I can't believe I made that mistake with the thumbs. xD Other than that I can honestly say i never thought about all of this. ^^; Didn't get enough space on the paper, so the staff is a little wrong too I guess...

Hahaha, I didn't even notice anyone had voted. xD

Hmmm... I sometimes make drawings too big for the scanner too, but I can't say I like taking pictures of them instead. The picture often gets a little unclear and shadows and light have a lot to say. I often use watercolors to paint with, and that makes the paper wrinkly so there will be shadows that aren't supposed to be there when I take pictures of it. D:

The one eye that shows is not in line with the nose, mouth and general shape of the head. The arm holding the lantern is longer than the other arm as well. You might want to keep proportions in mind in the future. Draw the body before you draw the clothes, it will make it easier to control proportions. I'd also advise looking at and studying real bodies. Look at them rather than just drawing an image in your mind.

yeah thats why i only do it when its line art cause its easy to get rid of all those shadows. I put it threw Illustrator's Live Trace and that feature is pretty touchy ^_^ Lines need to be good quality and as dark as you can get em. I have to use my higher megapixel camera because the lines didnt quite hold up after the bright/contrast cleaning.
