DON'T QUOTE THE FIRST POST, IT MAKES YOU LOOK STUPID.

Wolves are amazing, fascinating, and magnificent creatures. I'll say that upfront before any dipshit decides to claim this thread is made purely out of hate.

However, 90% of you wolf lovers are complete idiots. Most of you make me absolutely ashamed to like wolves, to be completely honest.

Some facts about wolves:
- Wolves do not only kill in order to defend themselves. Yes, they will attack if they feel threatened, but like all other large predatory animals, they CAN be unpredictable. They kill for food, they kill for status, they kill for FUN.
- They do NOT only kill/attack when they are rabid/otherwise sick or desperate. There are times when they will just attack.
- Wolves do not kill only what they eat. And usually when they do kill for food, they leave a large portion of it behind. They share with other carnivorous beasts with which they coexist.
- Wolves WILL kill purely for the sake of killing.
- A WOLF WILL KILL YOUR DOG
- A WOLF WILL KILL YOUR CAT
- The prey of wolves will often SUFFER. They do not administer quick deaths. They go for the jugular and allow the animal to BLEED OUT.
- WOLVES ATTACKING HUMANS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. This IS often due to hunger, but regardless, when pushed to extremes a pack of wolves is NOT above attacking human beings.
- THE WOLF IS NOT AN ENDANGERED SPECIES. It lost its status as an endangered species quite some time ago. Some subspecies are endangered, yes. But Canis Lupus is not.
- MALAMUTES AND OTHER SLED DOGS ARE NOT WOLFDOGS. If they are specifically BRED with a wolf, then yes, this is of course a different matter. But a purebred Malamute is just as much NOT A WOLF as a Golden Retriever is.
- THE PLURALIZED FORM OF "WOLF" IS "WOLVES", NOT "WOLFS"
- The common idea of the "alpha" wolf is actually an outdated and inaccurate concept. For more information on this part, click here.

- YOU ARE NOT A WOLF
- YOU WERE NOT REINCARNATED FROM A WOLF
- YOU DO NOT HAVE THE SOUL OF A WOLF*
- YOU ARE NOT A CANINE DEMON OF ANY SORT

Educate yourselves before obsessing over the creatures. They're one of the most sickeningly overrated animals on this Earth and ignorant morons, particularly stupid teenagers on the internet, make them out to be these perfect flawless creatures. If you really like the animal that much, EDUCATE YOURSELF ABOUT THE BAD AS WELL AS THE GOOD.

K, thx.

* It has come to my attention that I've offended the minority here, which is exempt from this point due to religious beliefs. I am NOT stating that people such as Cherokee who do, in fact, believe they have a connection with a wolf are wrong. That's your belief, you have reason for it. This point is directed towards confused high school children who think because they like wolves, they must be one. I do apologize for this misunderstanding.

Need a further example on why misunderstanding EXACTLY what wolves are is a bad idea? Watch this:

But yes. I have to shake my head every time I hear people proudly claiming how they got themselves a wolf-dog. Fortunately, most of the time, it's a Malamute mix and they just don't know the difference. When it is a wolf hybrid, it frequently ends with a lot of problems, and many of them get euthanized due to behavioural issues, including aggression.

Wolves are fantastic animals. Not so much fantastic pets.

also note in a lot of places also that wolves and wolf hybrids if they attack a human or a pet they will instantly be put down... and that in some places they will have their head cut off and sent for testing because brain matter is the most accurate way to test if they have rabies since rabies vaccines do not work on wolves and don't always work on wolf hybrids.

I lol because most people who claim they have a wolf-dog don't. It's simply a husky. Pure husky.

While wolfdogs are amazing, beautiful creatures and I do think they would make a good pet in SOME circumstances, they're almost never a good idea. They would need CONSTANT, VERY strict training as puppies and it still wouldn't be wise to trust the creature completely around children or other animals.

Uh, in most cases that's the rule for ANY canine. If it attacks a human, particularly in a vicious and seriously harmful manner, it's to be euthanized immediately.

Chances are, the vaccines probably do work. It's just that no sane vaccine manufacturer will spend the millions of dollars in testing necessary to prove it, so they're treated as unvaccinated animals.

But yeah. One reported bite usually means the end for that animal. Not a pretty ending.

Serious bites, yes. But the majority of bites are relatively minor and many are fairly justified, although a lot of those aren't even reported. In the case of reported bites with minimal injuries, the offending animal is typically quarantined for a period of time, but allowed to return home so long as they don't demonstrate signs of Rabies within that period.
I'd just like to say: Thank you for making this thread.
Seriously, like you, I'm tired of those teenage idiots who obsess over the animal without knowing a damn thing about it.
So, thanks for pointing all of this out. Many have tried, but you've done a spectacular job of it.
Haha. I can tell you just came for the 'Wolves" topic from before.
Frankly, as much as I love wolves, I do agree with everything you said.
Then again, looking at it from both sides, the anti-wolf side has some pretty bad arguments well.
[Like, I understand wolves kill livestock which is vital to a farmer or rancher, but frankly that's no reason to kill them all. It's not like you can tell a wolf what the difference between an owned animal and a wild animal and therefore they can avoid the former for killing. It's like killing starving children for stealing the food needed to survive since they can't get the money to buy it. Sure it's morally wrong, but in the bigger picture it's stupid to kill for that reason. Sorry for this rant]

And the whole "I want a wolf for a pet", I'll admit I went through that phase too, after reading White Fang and Call of the Wild, but studies show that dogs and wolves are not the same mentally, and a wolf for a pet is an insane idea.

So, the "Bite->Put Down" rule, is that for all animals?

I think a lot of people fantasize about owning ridiculous things for pets, it's just a matter of knowing when to step back and realize it's a bad idea. Just fun to think about it. In my heart, I will always love you, pet Tyrannosaur.

As for that last bit - if an animal has a current, legal Rabies vaccination, quarantine is an option. If it's an unvaccinated animal (like a wild animal) or a vaccinated animal of a species in which that vaccine isn't proven (like a wolf or fox that's been vaccinated using a canine/feline product), yes, it pretty much goes straight to euthanasia and Rabies testing.

Even in cases where quarantine is an option, some people elect to euthanize due to the specifics of the case - a repeat offender, potential legal ramifications if the victim is going to press charges, the owner's inability to cover the cost of quarantine, or so on.

Not to mention that most of them don't even know that the plural of 'wolf' is 'wolves'. WOLVES. With a 'ves'.
Sorry, pet peeve.

I simply have to agree. I myself am a wolf lover, but I do research on what I love. But bleh, I just shake my head at those who don't know things like that or become shocked or outraged at hearing true facts such as those.
