The Purpose. . .


Junk.
Trash.
In our Towns. In our Lakes. In our Daily Chance for crying out loud!
Its everywhere! We can't escape it. Everywhere you turn there is junk. Game items that serve no real use at all. Seriously Gaia, we need to clean up. Badly.

But what are we to do with all these crumbled paper bags, various flowers, and all the bugs? Well, there is always trading in the bugs for ink to sell in the MP to make a few extra k in gold. Flowers, well, they do make nice bouquets. And the trash...well...I guess the news hair stars are kinda cool....sorta. If you've only been a member for all of a day.

We can't just throw the stuff away! We've tried that before, remember? Now the Old Boots and Tires are in greater numbers that the guppies! That's just not right. I mean, the Rally isn't that old, where the hell are these tires coming from?! And filling up that giant crater with all our junk just wont work. First it will be all nice and handy but then there will be this really ghastly smell in the air, the fish will start sprouting legs, and the poor sea gulls are going to be born with their heads in plastic 6-pack containers. And, as an earth friendly Gaian, I just can't have that.

So, why not just recycle them? And I mean for cool items, not silly hats and single flower bouquets that are slowly becoming the Gaia equivalent of fruit cake at Christmas time. Items that show off our Gaian ingenuity and a general respect for the virtual world around us. The real world is slowly making environmentally healthy changes, so why shouldn't we Gaia? After all, shouldn't Gaia's trash be the Gaian's treasure?

I call all Gaians here and now to make a stand! Lets make new and better items using the game items found in the Towns and in your favorite fishing spots! Time to burn your construction paper hats, put those flowers in a vase, and for goodness sakes stop boiling the bugs for ink! Sign this petition for better exchange items.

Seriously Gaia, its time to clean up your junk.

The Q&A. . .

But wait! What happens if new items are made and they become the new starter items? Easy as crap to get and worth very little.

Well if it turns out like that then what is the point in having this petition? No. My hope is that these items would be available at different levels. Some items can be exchanged for 1000 flowers or paper bags or bugs and other items can be exchanged for 10,000 and so on and so forth. You get what I'm saying. That way they won't be so easy to get. Not to mention, that makes all the little items to go way up in price on the MP. And who here isn't just trying to earn gold and make a cool avi? Really?

Well, that sounds reasonable and make perfect sense. And, yay, GOLD!!!!!111ONEELVEN!!1! But wait! What if the items really do suck as much as the ones we have now? Whose to say they will be any better?

Of course, all the final design decisions will be made by the Gaia staff, but I don't see the harm in letting members offer up their designs for inspiration or examples. I have designed a few clothing and accessory items using the flowers, bugs, and trash that I collect in the towns. But, anyone who has any are more than welcome to submit their own design. Just make sure it is YOUR design and not someone else's.

No! Don't just post it in the thread! Please! I will never see it! I would like to collect all the designs to show on the front page for everyone to see. So, if you have a design please send me the link and a PM and, if it is possible, make sure it has your name on it. I will post images with their submitter's name, but its always good to have your name on it so that no one else can call it theirs. Also, try to keep your images small or make a thumbnail version to be posted. If images are too big I'll simply put links so the first page isn't stretched. And you are welcome to submit as many as you want.

Remember that these designs are strictly examples to the staff of Gaia of what we'd like to see. I doubt that any of these designs will actually be used. And because of Gaia's new image safety lock thing, it would probably be best to post your images on photobucket. Or, if you don't have an account, I will be happy to host them for you, with your permission.

Wait, someone else posted a really good idea, but I think it could be better. Can I make adjustments to their designs?

I don't mind if the original artist doesn't mind. If you'd like to edit or add to someone's idea you have to ask their permission and let me know. I will also be asking them so don't think you can sneak a fast one by me. But, yes, I really don't mind.

The Designs. . .

These are the designs that have sprouted forth from the imaginations of myself and all the other Gaians that believe we need new items in exchange for the junk that comes from the Towns, Fishing areas, and all the other useless game items on Gaia. As far as I know, these designs are 100% original and belong to their respectful owner.

Ehm. Now that I have that out of my system I urge everyone who visits the thread to please look over all of the designs as they are a key part of this petition. You are most welcome to submit designs of your own. For rules on submitting your own designs see the Q&A above.

The following are designs and ideas of my own. Some I have been able to illustrate and others I haven't. If you would like to illustrate some of my ides you are more than welcome to, you do not need my permission.

Flowers

Carnation
The carnation outfit consist of a dress, knee socks, and a veil. In the drawing I added a pair of winged anklets just for the fun of it.

Blue Carnation

Daffodil
The daffodil's only consist of two items, a bonnet/hat and a one piece swimsuit that is inspired by old fashioned swimsuits for women.

Purple Daffodil

Daisy
The daisy's are also a set of three. A shirt, and the wrist bands and ankle bands. A simple pair of khakis was added just so the model would be wearing pants.

Other ideas for Flowers:

❀ flowers blooming around your avi's feet
❀ blooming flowers behind avi's head (flower halo)
❀ braided flower crown
❀ Rare Flowers (i.e. Roses, Spider Lilies, Morning Glories)
❀ Ultra Deluxe bouquets (similar to the Winter Rose bouquet)
❀ Items for the Aquariums (fields of flowers, like the clovers on St. Patrick's Day)
❀ Items for the home (such as vases of flowers, potted plants, and window gardens)

You we could have full ballgown dresses from flowers. Actually there was this woman in Vietnam that made a wedding dress out of fresh flowers. I think it weighed 50 kg or something like that when it was done. o.o

Also, how about arm sleeves with petals for cuffs? Dangling petals for earrings? Belt made of flowers?

I love your idea. Your edits are original and they're appealing and practical.

But you said that it was hard to come up with items for paper trash, so I'll offer an idea of my own: stationery. The stuff that we can make with paper is pretty crappy, and they're excessively cheap and worthless. Why not use paper for stuff like notebooks, sketchbooks, Post-It notes, etc. instead of making stupid hats? Hell, maybe we can even make origami out of the trash we collect, or maybe even wallpaper, lanterns, and posters for our homes! Anything but dumb, ugly hats!

Enough of my incessant babbling; I support your petition wholeheartedly! I'll most DEFINITELY sign!

Why can't Gaia's trash be the Gaian's treasure? That's my thinking. Besides, there are so many possibilities.
