I've been on Gaia since 2008. I came back on just today after 4 years away and I was blown away with how high the prices were. I was so confused. I only have 190,000g and back then that was a substantial amount. I hope someone fixes this.

I'll Sign a thousand times over!

I was on the site way before all this crap happened. Whenever I got an announcement they would often be just as much about the world as it was about cash items. I even bought an MC the very first month I joined to support the site! I was sooo excited about doing it back then because they were also rare and interesting and always a big surprise every month! The events were fun even for casual participation. Heck even their PARNTER ADS were fun! I loved the Coraline mini event, and yea it was an advertisement but short of Bionicle stuff it was the best advertisement I had ever experienced.

Years passed and I missed the quirkiness I had come to love, but it's just not the same. I get 10 announcements and ALL OF THEM ABOUT SPENDING MONEY. It's just as hard to get rare items as before, which is fine within reason; with bigger numbers, it becomes harder to achieve goals, makes the process more disappointing and even hard to read!

Even the EVENTS that used to be about the community and story are now tied to MONEY, especially with DAMN TEIRS. Not only is it unfair for people who can't buy things, but it also makes it unfair for the community by robbing it of a chance to interact.

The best way to get our point across is to stop spending money on the site. Stop buying gold generating items, even if there's a sale on Gaia Cash! If you have to get something make sure it's cheap for you. Spam the announcement forum every time there's another one about GC items! Make some noise across the Internet!

It's not that I'm against the F2P model, it's just that the current model isn't fair. If you want an example of reasonable F2P system, take a look at Hearthstone, Blizzard's CCG. It offers its card packs at $2.99 or 100 gold. The cash price is comparable to IRL card packs, or you can do the daily quests and win games for a couple of hours to earn enough gold for a pack. Even if you don't get a card you want, you exchange it for dust and to craft the ones that you do. Alternatively you can do arenas. Because of the risk/reward factor of arenas, you pay $1.99 or 150 gold. No matter what your skill level you you are guaranteed a card pack. More wins get you more rewards and makes it more cost effective if you become really good at arena play! Even Angry Joe praised it in his top games of 2014!

So Please, Gaia Online, make your system more fair, it will only make your community that much stronger for it!

I'll sign.

I've been watching this inflation spiral out of control from the moment they added in gold generators. I'll admit I bought a few early on just to see how much gold they seemed to be giving out on average, but I haven't given Gaia a cent since then.

I've been around for 10 years now. For the longest time my account stayed pretty stable at a worth of around 20 million or so. That wasn't SUPER rich, but I had pretty much everything I wanted.

Since the gold generators have come out my account has "grown" in value to being worth over 1 TRILLION gold. People have so much money that post tipping was increased from 25 gold to 10,000 gold and it's still a laughably small amount of gold.

I recently decided to open up 14 pink links I had sitting around only to find out that they massively jacked up how much those award too. I gained about 500 million gold from PINK LINKS. Ya know. Those things you get for free when you surf around Gaia too much. I got anywhere from 28 to 90 million gold in each one.

It's to the point where a single monthly letter, which you can still buy for $2.50, sells in the marketplace for over 6 BILLION gold, which means $0.01 is worth ~25.5 million gold. That's just ridiculous. Before gold generators I recall monthly letters selling for a few hundred thousand.

We're well beyond the point where it's better to just buy as many non-store items as you can with gold now because it's rapidly becoming worthless.

I've never really taken a huge interest in economics, but observing the ridiculousness of the inflation here is part of what keeps me coming back to Gaia these days. It's oddly fascinating, like watching a trainwreck.

I'll sign. Something needs to be done about this inflation. I had took a hiatus from Gaia for about a couple of years, came back and the little chance machine gave me a bunch of gold. Now me, who has never had that much gold before, thought it was glitched. I found out from posting a topic that Gaia made it that way. This inflation has caused me nothing but heartache because I never have the amount of gold needed to buy the items I really want. I actually found items on the marketplace I wanted and just about cried when I thought I finally had enough only to find the price had shot up within hours. I dread seeing those announcements because it means more inflation...

It's really crazy. I just logged back in for the first time since I was in early hs (so like around '09) but have been a user since late elementary school. Once the gaia cash thing started, it all went downhill. I miss when it was jsut donation, and the website actually rewarded positive and active members instead of just selling out to new users with giftcards. It takes all the fun out of even having rare/expensive items if you can jsut buy them with real money. And the inflation is INSANE. i was actually nervous that something was wrong with my account when I was getting almost 10k payoffs for a single post.

When I first joined in like '04 or '05, I remember really wanting the kimonos that were almost 10k. Me and my friend both wanted one, and were in a competition to get it the fastest, and did polls and bumping threads and chats and rps for weeks before we finally got them. And when we got them, we were actually happy about it.
