I'll definitely sign. Nothing is worse than buying an item with real money, only to have the Gaia staff cut the value down immensely after the fact. They should have given some sort of warning, or at least let the fish bought before the change continue to trigger / drop gold like normal.

I'll sign. I think this is terrible for people who spent real money on their fish.

I'll repost something I wrote in SF a while back (before they reduced gold granting from fish... ahh it's terrible that they did something so predictable):

Booty Grab does pump tons of gold into the economy, and I don't really think it was the best idea to launch it in the first place, but by now some people have spent quite large amounts of money on their tanks, and not just because they want them to look pretty-- they expected to make gold. For that reason, I think it's too late to adjust the amount of gold granted by already existing fish.

For me it's not as much of a problem, because I never buy anything with cash anymore (though I would, of course, be disappointed to lose out on the gold investment). But when I see tanks filled with expensive fish like water meat ( gonk ) and think of the possibility that Gaia might reduce the amount of gold the owners can get from those fish, I don't feel that's right. Paying customers ought to be treated a certain way; that is, the stuff they buy should continue to function in the way they expected it to when they purchased it, in this case until the fish die.

So when I finally decided to start doing aquarium and posting in aquarium forums and spending all this gold and MONEY (only a 10$ card I think) on fish and whatnot, it was probably a week before they changed the booty grab and stuff. I really don't mind that, since I never really play it much anyway (Dial up internet) BUT I think the only thing they should change is being able to buy fish from Phin Phang with Gold. Not everyone can buy Gaia Cash, since a lot of people here are younger and have to get the money from their parents and sometimes the parents think It's a waste spending real money on fake money. That would make me happy, being able to buy everything from Phin Phang with gold. I can buy Gaia Cash, but I prefer not to since I prefer my dad to spend his money on better things. Like food. Haha. But I don't see how the booty grab giving less gold is such a problem, really. Just go looking more, and I'm sure some fish still give you as much gold. Plus, there's plenty other ways to get gold. The mods are really doing their best, I think Gaia is an awesome site, don't you think they're doing a good job? If not, start you're own site, and see if you can do better. I understand a lot of you (like my boyfriend) spent A LOT of money, but you have to think about the mods, they're doing what's best. Think about it, if you get all this gold for doing pretty much nothing (moving your mouse back and forth for 60 seconds) Things will start to cost more. A LOT more. So it could be worse.

I'm very disappointed in Gaia for dumping these changes on us, without even telling us what they are. What's the point of buying the fish if it takes so long to make back the gold/money put into them? I agree with all the points raised in the first post.
So unhappy with Gaia right now. :/ I feel like all the gold and real cash I put into my tank is going to waste, I'm not making back the money I put into it at a reasonable rate like before these changes.

I was referring to the "false advertising" accusation, which is simply not true. The fish you bought still earn you just as much gold as before.

I hate to dreg up the past, but I feel the need to.

Sagger, what if the grounds of purchase are not to earn gold? Some people might have just wanted a Watermeat to give people gold without caring about how much return they get. It's a nice thing to get a comment or PM from someone saying they're thankful for something you've done - why take that satisfaction away? Especially if people paid money for it?

Another thing - you're telling your paying customer that she's wrong. She's measured the difference from before and after - she even took an average figure. Your customers are trying to tell you that you've cheated them - to blatantly, and without further explanation, tell them that their own research is "false" is to tell them that you don't care what they have to say.

Gaia, again - you're a business. Analyze the situation and react accordingly. I realize you're under a lot of pressure from the changes, but that is no excuse for miscommunication or a lack of communication. By lack of communication I mean that your reasoning is purely one-sided. Your developers are given free grounds to say what they need to, but your paying customers have no say.

To the owners of this site - and their investors, if applicable - become aware of the trends in business. Ethics, consideration, communication and customer service are the back bone to a successful business. I know, making money online is a s**t hard to do - I've tried it several times to no avail. I have noticed, however, that by doing business in a way that involves my customers and allows them their say in the product and service I provide helps to create a trust rapport and open market.

Gaia, you're a business. Please, just hear out your customers. We are smarter than you give us credit for - and that is our honest sentiment. The worst thing to do is to crush an honest voice and dismiss it for "growing pains". Something is genuinely wrong - please take the time to fix it. I have nothing to give you ground to trust me, but I know you'll find better solutions if you involve the community you've created more actively.
