Okay, so I am born and raised catholic and have been taught that homosexuality and bi-sexuality is wrong.

The thing is... I have discovered I am bi-sexual. I am 26 but still am torn. Am I gonna go to hell?

You will either (1) adhere to God's word or (2) be guided by the desires of the fallen flesh to do whatever you feel is right in your own eyes. You can't exist as a follower of both because they contradict. People who twist holy writ into something politically-correct are not doing you any favors; you would be worshiping a God not described in the scriptures at that point. So decide what you love more: the Holy God of Israel or the desires of the fallen flesh. The hellbound decision would be allowing your sexuality to lead you into relations he says not to pursue (or even provoking yourself to lust after things he said not to pursue). The fact that you're bisexual means you are also attracted to women, so pursuing a relationship with a woman shouldn't be a hindrance to walking obediently.

I've come across testimonials of bisexuals and homosexuals who are no longer enslaved to the sin (and they're not "suppressing" any urges, but have been fully delivered of the lifestyle); what they all have in common: acknowledging their sin for the sin that it is, prayer, and disciplining their thought-life / guarding their heart.

Concerning hell, Jesus said to repent or we'll perish (Luke 13:2-5), told the adulteress to leave her life of sin despite not condemning her in the moment (John 8:11) and that we should eliminate whatever it is in our lives that leads us to sin if we wish to avoid hell (Matthew 5:29). Paul's epistles list certain characteristics that will bar people out of the Kingdom of Heaven (which I believe is referring to his millennial reign on earth described in Revelation 20 and Zechariah 14); some of those verses in the epistles being: Galatians 5:19-25; Colossians 3:5-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.

If you want to follow Jesus, then stick to sound doctrine, repent of sin, do the Father's will, no longer allow the fallen desires of the flesh to guide your decisions, but let God's words (spoken through Moses, the prophets, Jesus and the apostles) guide your life choices. The Holy Spirit will not lead you into what is biblically defined as sin. Anyone pitting "law and prophets" against "Jesus and the apostles" has not honestly (nor thoroughly) read through all the books.

People who don't repent of sin are not born-again; by definition they're not cherishing God's law in their hearts, they're cherishing sin still, thus not under the new covenant and not believers of what Jesus said in John 3:3,7. The new covenant is described in Hebrews 8:10, Jeremiah 31:31-33, Ezekiel 36:25-27 (note, the law is written on our hearts and his spirit helps us do so). If that doesn't describe you, acknowledge your sin, confess it to God in repentance, and ask for the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38; Luke 11:13).

Being Gay/Bi is not a sin in and of itself to the Church, it's the sexual actions that are the sin.
So you would be expected to "Take up your cross" and either be celibate, or in your case, stick with women. Catholic teaching on sex is pretty consistent in that sex must be open to life, and only done in the context of marriage. So pretty much every kind of sex that isn't vanilla vaginal intercourse between a married straight couple is a sin in their eyes, so take that as you will.

The Catholic church has doubled down on the stupid in affirming this, so don't expect this to go any more liberal in our lifetimes, but there's a lot of dissent on this which is a good thing.

From a Catholic point of view? No one can be 100% sure who in in heaven, purgatory, and he'll. (though the pope can say certain people are in heaven, such as the saints)

The issues here that would be grave in matter are:
-The lusting after another person that is not your spouse. (Though one could say lust is in itself dehumanizing and a grave matter even for a spouse)
-Viewing pornography
-Being in a sexual relationship (as a catholic) with someone who you are not married to.(in the church)

As with any of these things, one should reflect on their own heart and conscious and talk to their religious advisor or priest.

Saying all that though, I think any Catholic who tells you that you are going to hell is out if line, and should learn a thing or two about their own faith.

Religion is a sticky and convoluted subject. While the Bible is steadfast and full of good moral information, there is still a lot that contradicts and unrightly condemns. I believe, it is more important to study for yourself and believe the passages that truly strike your heart - Priests and Pastors I've come to realize are more or less in the clergy to feel some sort of pride in themselves, like a politician who reads the surface of laws, and repeats based on hearsay rather than the heart and knowledge.

Here's the thing though. The universe, let alone our world, is a big big, complicated, multilayered place. If God exists, he exists in a pretty mystical and entrancing world. If there is a omnipresent consciousness that exists, I hardly think it would allow a perfectly balanced system of nature to go on to fruition existing solely in evil. In fact, I believe humans have overstepped our boundaries in the beliefs of god's word, and literally canonized evil - worship on an opposite level.

In our world, some things work, and some things dont. The systems that dont, eliminate themselves because they simply….just don't belong. But love and realization of the human psyche knows no bounds. YOU make the decisions. YOU subscribe to the words of scripture that make you feel whole.

Trust me. Christian Highschool, Catholic Grandmother. NO ONE follows the entirety of the Holy Bible. God loves as only God can love. Don't allow the ignorance of others to shut out that love from yourself.

I love how uplifting that was. I'm certain you made them feel fantastic about their post, which, by the way, was factual and to the point, without attacking anybody. But sure, we're the bad ones for having faith in something greater than ourselves...

@OP - As others have stated, it's the sin itself you need to be weary of. I would like to make it clear that while Jesus never explicitly mentioned homosexuality, He did make reference to sexual immortality, which was already fairly clear in the Hebrew scriptures at the time (Leviticus 18 might be worth reading if you're uncertain (verse 22 to be a little more precise)).

I pray that you will allow God into your heart through His Son, Jesus Christ, to help you in turning away from the sin. No, God does not hate you. He doesn't approve of the sin- the ACT of doing something not in accordance to His teaching. But He absolutely loves the person themselves.

You know.. I used to lust over anyone. I used to have anger issues, severe lust issues, used to be a liar, used to think of suicide countless times.. and much more. I didn't fully believe in God back then.. didn't follow Him. But that all changed.. in 2012.
