Once upon a time Nurvinia was but a small kingdom along the coast. Mistera was its capital and it was known as the City of Souls. It was a place where gods once walked and protected with all their might. The first Emperor and Empress, humans born to the land, tapped into the magic of the city and used it to spread their influence over the continent. They were an unstoppable force and all fell to their might. It was believed that the gods themselves smiled upon the Nurvinian Empire and that conquest was their destiny. Mistera became the Empireโ€™s capital and all seemed well.

But nothing is ever well for long.

During the last part of Nurvinia's conquest, the city was ravaged first by pirate attacks then by a devastating plague that baffled the cityโ€™s physicians. The City of Souls seemed to have lost whatever power it once had. The Emperor and Empress blamed the Peregrini, a group of mystics and magicians, for stopping the flow of magic. The Peregrini were hunted for their crimes and are still hunted to this day.

The Emperor and Empress abandoned Mistera and put it in the hands of the first Count, turning their eyes to Silverkeep in the northwest. It was another city said to be teeming with magic that they so desperately desired. The first Count was left to pick up the pieces, but it took many generations to bring the city back to something resembling its former glory, but it wasn't the same. The Nurvinian Empire flourished and its borders expanded. The first Emperor and Empress lived their lives and their heirs have ruled ever since.

Nowadays Mistera is bustling with trade and life. Still known as the City of Souls, the time and idea of a city protected by the gods is now a fairy tale. Still there are a few who believe the power of the city still remains. Is it locked away? What happened to it? Is it true that the Peregrini have found a foothold in the city once again? Could a rebellion be at the Empire's doorsteps?

User ImageUser ImageNurvinia is the great empire of the continent. It is a vast land where nobles make up the backbone of the power structure. The Emperor rules with the help of his advisers and live in the capital, Silverkeep. Many new fads, fashions, and the like sprout from Silverkeep. It is said that it is a country blessed by the Gods as they once lived amongst the people of Mistera. However many see that now as a fairy tale and nothing more. Their main exports are wine and magic.

Yeojin is ruled by a council of people from all walks of life. They were once ruled by a tyrant prince who invaded the western coast of the continent in an bid to gain more power and control over the world. However the prince abdicated after the mysterious death of his children. No one is quite sure what happened to the prince afterwards. Yeojin are now a peaceable, neutral nation who prefers to mediate and advocate for peace between the nations of the world. Still there are many who believe they are a ticking time bomb. Their main exports are talismans and farmed goods. Their capital is Seongdo.

A desert kingdom to the southwest of Nurvinia, Haria is home to the Harian Tribes. There are ten tribes that travel through the country with each tribe ruled by a shaman king. Twice a year, the tribes meet for the Solstice Celebration in the capital of Kohttoi where they discuss matters pertaining to Haria. They are allies of the Empire and are bitter enemies of Sola due to Solan attacks on their people. Many people from Haria have been enslaved which has caused more friction between Sola and Nurvinia. Haria's main exports are spices and horses.

Sola is an absolute monarchy where nobility takes the forms of clans who vy for favor and control over the lands. They are allies of Kurula and rumors have spread of the Solans invading the Empire of Nurvinia. However their alliance with Kurula has been tested with the marriage one of their noblewoman to the Emperor of Nurvinia. Their source of wealth comes from stone and jewels deposits as well as the slave trade. Sola's capital of Sogen is the seat of power for the monarch and they are unyielding on a good day.

Kurula has been built on a foundation of strict morality. Every step, every word, every gesture has a meaning and a purpose. There is always a hierarchy and ceremony for everything and the royal family is held to the same high standards if not higher ones. Despite this, Kurula has a booming tourist industry as people wish to marvel in the beauty and spectacles. It is said that those who disobey the laws are sold into slavery to Sola even those who are simply visiting. A Kurulan noblewoman married into the Nurvinian Imperial line ten years ago and it has caused some friction not only from Sola, but within Kurula as well. This kingdom's capital is Saro and their main exports are silk and lumber.

Navra is a country far to the east. Not much is known about it other than it is quite isolated. Ships sent to make contact either do not return or return with reports that they cannot find it. Still there have been sightings and signs of life from the country in more recent years. It is said that in the past, it was an ally of Nurvinia, but broke with the continent and its nearby countries after the fall of Mistera. Some say it is because of the plague. Others say it is because of the Peregrini themselves. Again, no one is sure. The capital centuries ago was known as Dasir.

User ImageUser ImageMistera, the City of Souls, is a bustling city set upon ancient ley lines and magical ground. It was once the pantheon's home away from home and is the sight of the Edge of the World. Located in the Castle District, this peak is said to be the gateway from our world to the Heavens. No one has ever scaled it and lived to tell, but it is said that half way up there is a small shrine where one can pray before attempting to reach up into the clouds. Set along the eastern coast of Nurvinia, it is divided into seven districts: North, South, East, West, Sea, Castle, and the City of the Dead.

The Northern District boasts semi-clean streets and a relatively strong stance on justice and stopping crime. The guard has a strong presence along the border with the Western District and many people have even formed a watch that travels around the streets looking for crime and keeping order where the guard cannot. Physicians, apothecaries, and alchemists often have their shops along the border of the Castle District and the Southern District. The Grand Market, the central hub of all trade in the city, connects the Northern District to the Southern District.

A caravan district, the Southern District is the stop that most if not all travelers and merchants go through when they visit Mistera. They may find their way to the Northern District as well as many other districts through the Grand Market. Mistera's guilds are found here including the once famous Bard's College which is located closer to the Eastern District and the Castle District. The Bard's College lost clout and popularity after the disastrous fire in 1346. Despite many bards in Mistera attempting to revive it, many believe it is haunted by the dead who perished inside.

The Eastern District is known as the Dock District by Misteran locals. It is central point of sea based trade, but it is often seen as even more lawless than the slums of the Western District. The guards do their best to step the tides of the pirates and other ruffians who make their homes there. There is a bitter stalemate between the guard, locals, and pirates that has only grown more tenuous as the years have gone by.

The Western District is known better as the Slums. This district lies on the far edges of Mistera. Little is done to help the impoverished who reside there despite the Count's best efforts. Bandit attacks happen every so often and any guard who has angered the Captain of the Guard are stationed there. Gambling dens, houses of ill repute, and more litter the streets. The criminal underworld of Mistera is said to have an entrance in the heart of the Western District.

The Sea District is a wealthy district that resides next to the Castle and Northern District. The nobility resides here as well as the Arena which showcases gladiatorial fights once a week. The First Temple can be found in this district. It was the first known temple of the Arcana Pantheon. The Head Priest resides within the temple and the Court Magician does readings there for the clergy as well as for the general public on their days off.

The Castle District is home to the Count's Keep and the Edge of the World. The guard headquarters and the Grand Library are also found in this district. The captain of the guard always seems to be on duty. There is no rest for the wicked of Mistera and the captain knows this well in hand. The Grand Library has been in disarray since the last librarian left for Silverkeep five years ago.

The City of the Dead is the home to the largest cemetery in Mistera. Countless dead have been buried here, but none of those who perished from the long ago plague are hidden beneath the ground. They were sent to an island off the coast to be cremated as to not spread the disease. The undertaker lives and works in a large building just on the edge of this district as a welcoming point to the cemetery.

The Page of Swords: Count Justinian Lumin was raised to become the next Count of Mistera. He came into his position just a year ago after the untimely death of his mother. He rules calmly, but is often excited at the prospect of new things. He has no power so to speak of, but is quite adept with weaponry of all kind.

                    The Knight of Pentacles:
Sir Simeon Levine was born in Silverkeep, the youngest in a long line of government officials. He was trained at one of the most prestigious universities of Silverkeep to follow in the footsteps of his father and forefathers. He found Silverkeep too pompous for his liking and left for Mistera. He proved himself to Countess Lumin and was given the job of Keeper of the Seals. He sees the young Count Lumin as the grandson he never had. He often says he will sleep when he's dead. His power lies in telekinesis.

                    The Knight of Swords:
Born in Mistera, Karayan has been the Court Magician for five years now. His power is his attunement to the Arcana. His readings and insight allow him to give sight to those who need it and he is often called to do readings for the temples. He also does readings for the people of Mistera on his days off. He studied in Silverkeep and is a staunch believer that the City of Souls can be returned to its former glory.

The King of Swords: Kazimir Bazhir was the child of Kurulan merchants who were caught in an attack by Solan slavers while in Haria. He was saved by the Bazhir and was adopted after his parents passed due to their wounds. Kazimir learned much from the tribe and eventually found himself in Mistera after leaving to find his way. He entered the Misteran Guard and rose in the ranks. Now he is the Captain of the Guard. His power is that of animal speech, using the animals of Mistera to gather information.

The Page of Cups: Guillaume du Belmont is the Head Cleric of the First Temple. He was born in Sola, but traveled to Mistera on a pilgrimage. He felt a calling to stay and help Mistera, working in tandem with Karayan to help study and return the magic. He swore himself to the Arcana and has taken a vow of chastity and purity of all levels. His power resides in a serenity aura.

                    The Page of Pentacles:
Li Mingzhu was born in Yeojin and would have stayed their her whole life. However a strange omen on the day of her mother's passing pushed her to leave her homeland and travel through Nurvinia. Mistera became the center of her work. As a historian and undertaker, she wished to learn more about the plague and disasters that wracked the city all those centuries ago. Her power resides in weaving unbreakable garments which she uses in her burial shrouds she makes for each

The Queen of Wands: Mitera is a name spoken in hushed tones in Mistera and all of Nurvinia. Back in the beginnings of the Nurvinian Empire, when dragons roamed and magic was pure and real, Mitera wielded much power and prestige. She was known as Dragon Slayer and was an essential member of the Peregrini. None could stand against her might and none defied her. Until the magic disappeared and the Peregrini were forced to flee, Mitera fled as well. No one is sure what happened to her, but there is said to be a moving forest so treacherous that one could not dare enter nor escape from it. Some say Mitera's spirit lives within.

Q: Who are the Peregrini? Can I play one?

A: The Peregrini are an ancient order of magicians and mystics. They predate the Empire and some rumors say they even predate Nurvinia and the other countries as well. Originally they lived in tumultuous peace within Nurvinia, sometimes serving as advisers and other times conflicting with the Empire's views. However they are blamed for the City of Soul's demise and were subsequently hunted down for their treason. The leader promised that they would return and that they were wrongly accused. To the world, the order disbanded and fled. Some pockets once remained in other countries, but they faded with time.

The truth of the matter is that the Peregrini still remain in Mistera. No one is quite sure where the leader of the group lives, but rumors persist that they have settled in Silverkeep, the heart of the Empire. Members continue to do the bidding of the Peregini's leader in Mistera. The plans are secret to most of the lower ranked members and few understand or know the true motives behind the group.

And you are definitely allowed to play a member of the Peregrini.

Q: So everyone in the rp knows of their Arcana ? Or maybe they donโ€™t?

A: The tarot card chosen in your application has a secret meaning for later on in the roleplay and will eventually be revealed. The tarot you picked can also be your character's patron deity, but they can be different if you so choose.

Q: Were all of the gods on earth at some point?

A: All of the gods were once living in Mistera and the world. Mistera was their home away from home. They disappeared from the mortal realm after the magic disappeared from Mistera.

Q: Familiars? Whats up with that?

A: All magic users have the option to have a familiar. They are often spirits summoned from the space between realms where magic flows freely. They can speak telepathically with their bonded summoner. However familiars seem to only be able to speak in one work responses or small sentences. They can speak to others if the bond with that person is strong enough. They're common enough to where they aren't looked at as strange on the streets. Many people have them.

Q: Temples are to the Arcana right? How religious is the world? Are some gods more popular in certain nations?

A: The Arcana are the only pantheon in the world so yes! All temples are dedicated to The Arcana. The world is fairly religious all in all with temples in nearly every city. However some of them are abandoned or have fallen to ruin. But, as a whole, religion is be a backbone of commonality between the nations
