Recently I've had 3 submissions (there might be more but I spotted 3) that were just toooo similar with other people's entries, it's just a coincidence but it still makes me feel kinda redface I need to push myself out of my comfort zone fr (,,>﹏<,,)

I know what you mean, but even then its a tricky balance. ill be picking out stuff, then thinking its too cliche, then changing it to something more out of the box, then it turns out i went too far and now im at the bottom of the barrel. Gotta stand out and appeal to the masses at the same time

Right, it's such a challenge! Some days I don't really vibe with what I've submitted but it'd somehow do better than I expect, some days it's the complete opposite. For Nouveau 51 I remember thinking, "many people are probably going to use the same item as the background, I probably shouldn't" and I did not do well at all haha

I forgot that I had submitted a "draft" entry that I wasn't fully happy with and ran out of time before the deadline to change things and now it will be there forever... on my page lol

Came here to say the same thing but I’m just gonna assume there’s a lot of entries cuz I felt the same way with the Circus Punk theme cuz I was like “wtf only 100 votes??” but ended up getting 5th place so yeah lol

the amount of times i see this is upsetting as a black person myself. it's why i can barely anything black related when it comes to fantasy, cosplay, artwork, video games, cartoons, or anime. i wanted to look for "black witch" and all i get are pale goths as witches, not black ppl as witches. "black anime", black butler comes up. "black hair tutorial" black colored hair but it's not based on our hairstyles. like okay, maybe for the contest, you'd have to specify you mean "race", but even then, it sucks the default is the color black and not my people : (

drives me INSANE too crying and like. i feel like the met gala is in the cultural awareness enough that people are just being willfully ignorant at this point. like, you cannot be that ignorant without it being purposeful. and if you're not sure??? GOOGLE THE MET GALA. USE CONTEXT CLUES.

That’s reassuring! I am used to the vote count being pretty high in Cash, so assumed I was bombing.

There again, I *may* be bombing anyway. Looking at the early doors top 3, I really should have gone down the red rose look rofl
