Most of the items I used in those tekteks are items found in the [shops].
You can also check the [marketplace] to see if anyone is selling the items cheaper than the store price. Watch out, because they'll also sell for more than store price.

If you can name a specific item or items, I can pinpoint it better... Tektek also has a lovely tool. If you type the item into the top right corner, it'll tell you what store you can find the store item in. [tektek gaia items list]

@Xashi: I like your avatar. It looks very good. :3 It doesn't follow the rules of this thread... so I can't judge is based on that. ^^;;
If you make a very good story for your description, you might do well in the arena. I'm not sure how well, however, because your type of avatar is rather common.

^^; I'm better at suggesting what items to use if you're going for a certain color scheme or look.

Interesting guide. I personally like going to TekTek and just designing avatars every so often. Sometimes I'll look at a combo of two or more items and go to TekTek to try and see if they can combine with other parts to look good.

I personally hate those overly cluttered avatars and try to make mine easier to see.

I love doing the same thing. ^___^ I used to spend more time on the avatar making sites, than I did on Gaia itself.
Which backfired because I didn't spend that time making gold on Gaia to buy the items I wanted. <.< >.>

Oh yes. I dislike avatars that have every item on them in some sporadic way just because the person wants to show them all off.
Many times, I do like the really overly cluttered avatars that are cluttered on purpose. xD
This is hard, I like most all avatars in general. XD;;

This guide has been sooooooo helpful to me.. Thank you a whole big humogeous bunch.

I've been on for over two years, and I thought that I had a pretty good concept on the avatar designing thing, but your guide has made me have a totally different outlook on all of this.

I especially like the section about what specific items are good to have in any inventory. Most guides are like, "You should buy black stuff. And maybe some white stuff, too. That should do it." This one is totally different. I love it!

Thank you very much. That was one of my goals and what really prompted me to make this guide. The other guides that I'd seen didn't do just that. They use tons of expensive items in their examples. And, if they make "cheap" avatars, they either don't follow the own rules that they gave in their thread or the avatars they make aren't very cheap at all. ^^;
