Why was this thread created when there are two other Achievement Guides? Well the answer is simple, the other two guides are no longer being updated. In the beginning, Ladybird Sauce started the original thread. Then it was passed down to Animal, then to Rex the Dino, and now it's time for us to take the reins. We will do our best to keep things up to date and current. To help us do that, we created this shared mule account. This way, if one person is unable to continue updating the guide, others will be able to jump in and edit the thread.

About Achievements

The achievements system was released in 2010, with two big releases of general achievements. A third release followed in 2012. Now, achievements are usually released around events. It's a bit like the achievement systems in World of Warcraft or Xbox 360 - you get points for completing certain goals, as well as a pretty little badge and titles that you can display below your avatar. These goals may involve posting in a certain place or a certain number of times, changing your avatar, interacting with other users in a certain way - just about anything. Completing achievements will add to your Achievement Point Total. Currently, there is no use for these points aside from friendly competition with other users. Clicking an achievement will give you more information about it. To see another user's achievements, go below their avatar to the drop-down menu and click on "Achievements".

In order to earn an achievement, it must first be available to you. Many achievements need to be 'unlocked' by completing preceding achievements. Your achievements page lists the achievements you have already obtained, as well as achievements available for you to earn. Once you have completed the requirements for an available achievement, you'll see a short animation where a gold ball will fly towards your username and currency in the top right corner. Your Achievement Point Total will increase, and the achievement will move from the 'available' list to the 'completed' list. You may display up to three of your completed achievements below your avatar by dragging them into the boxes on the achievements page.

To get started, go to your achievements page to see which achievements you have available. Have fun collecting!

As of 11th July 2012, most achievements award you with between one and eight titles. Titles are either 'prefixes' or 'suffixes' (adjectives or nouns) and you may display a combination of two titles below your avatar by selecting them from the drop-down lists on your achievements page. You cannot use two titles if they are the same word (i.e. hunter, hunter). Some achievement titles may glitch in appearance if they have apostrophes or certain other symbols in them. Within this guide, the small words in brackets denote the titles which you unlock with each achievement.

What are achievements for?
Mainly they're for bragging rights, the pretty pictures and titles under your avatar, and just something extra to do. They also unlock ten extra slots in the Marketplace, and for new users achievements unlock access to the 'World' and 'Games' tabs, as well the ability to own a home, car and aquarium. When they were first released, DARKNRGY hinted that achievement points will one day be used to unlock cool things, but so far nothing has been implemented on this front.

Can I turn achievements off?
At the moment, no. You can, however, remove the achievements displaying below your avatar by simply clicking the 'x' in the corner of each one on your achievements page. When the pop-up appears to congratulate you on completing an achievement, you can also uncheck the box to stop it from popping up again (although unfortunately this doesn't always work).

I've done everything I needed to do to earn an achievement, but I still haven't got it. What do I do?
First, double check that the achievement is available to you and that you're sure you understand what it is you're supposed to do. If you still think you should have it, try waiting twenty-four hours. Achievements can lag a lot, particularly if they're new or event achievements. If you still don't have it after a day, then if it's an easy achievement, try doing it again. If that doesn't work, find the achievement in this guide and see if it has a note next to it about a problem.

If there's no note, check the Questions & Assistance forum and the most recent posts in this thread to see if anyone else is reporting the problem. There may be a glitch with the achievement grant itself, especially if it's a new achievement. If this is the case, then all you have to do is simply wait for the developers to fix the glitch and the achievement will grant. If no one else is having the same issue, you can post here or start your own thread in Questions & Assistance, to see if anyone knows what might be going wrong.

If you seem to be the only one having the issue with the achievement (or there's only a small group of others with the same problem), try filing a ticket with Gaia Online. Filing a ticket should be your last resort when trying to get an achievement granted. It will take some time for Gaia staff to get to your ticket, so please be patient. Eventually, Gaia staff will manually grant you the achievement.

I've had a thread in the Chatterbox for 24 hours with no posts, but I still don't have the Invisibility achievement. Why?
It's very possible that someone posted in your thread and then deleted their post. This will look to you as if you have no posts, but if you check your topics you'll see that you have one reply. If this isn't the case, refer to the question above.

I have over one million gold, why do I not have Millionaire?
If you had more than one million gold before Millionaire became available to you, you'll probably need to take your gold count below one million and then back over it again to trigger the grant. The easiest way to do that is to start a trade with a mule or friend, dump most of your gold into it, wait a few minutes, and then cancel the trade. Millionaire can be notoriously glitchy, so you may need to repeat this more than once to get the achievement to stick.

I already have a full closet, and don't want to delete any of my outfits. How can I get the Full Closet or Signature Look achievements?
You don't have to lose any of them. Change into one of your outfits, delete it from your closet and then resave it again, and you should get the achievement.

I already had Clambake/Sausagefest/Nudist Colony/Hive Mind/Prayer Circle, so why has it just granted again?
If you complete the requirements for these achievements a second time, it will look like you've been granted them for the very first time. It will pop up, your points total might go up by 100, and the achievement will move to the top of your list. Don't worry, this is a known but harmless glitch - in a few hours your points will go back to normal.

Why do I have a really long number in the counter for Noob Wrangler?
The counter for Noob Wrangler is kind of broken, but there is a way to work out your progress from it. Rather than displaying the number of noobs you've quoted, it lists the user IDs for each noob you've quoted, separated by a comma. So if you count each user ID, you can still check your progress.

How do I get Conventioneer if I live somewhere that Gaia doesn't visit?
You don't need to actually visit a convention to get a code, you can redeem a code that was given to someone else. Sometimes very generous Gaians will give them away, or if you have a friend going to one you could ask them to pick a code up for you. Just remember that you cannot pay for this code in any way, as it would be considered offsite trading which is against the TOS.

A second way to get the Conventioneer achievement is to attend a livestream of a Gaia con panel. Participate in the chat, and afterwards, details will be released as to how to receive the Conventioneer achievement. Gaia panels at cons do not always happen each con season, but it's something worth keeping an eye out for.

Will the event achievements ever be re-released?
Only a select few event achievements have ever been re-released: Crack Shot from the Gobble Gobble game, and a few of the gold/platinum sink event achievements. Because the event achievements rely on features and games that were only present during past events, it is likely that many of them will never be re-released.

I see achievements that people have that are not posted here. How do I get them?
Gaia has released an Agate ticket that allows you to create your very own achievement. There are a few ways to get one.
1. Buy in the cash shop when available.
2. Win it in a rig.
3. Buy one from the marketplace or exchange.

You can only get other people's agate achievements by having a ticket yourself then getting the permission from the original creator of the achievement.

Are there zOMG achievements?
No. zOMG has its own set of in game trophies/challenges called badges. Badges are a completely separate feature than Achievements. If you see someone discussing zOMG achievements, then they are simply using the wrong term and actually mean badges. Although it has been asked that zOMG badges be turned into Achievements, Admin have confirmed that this is not likely to ever happen because of incompatibility between the two features.

Why isn't the Treasure Hunter achievement granting for me?
When this achievement first came out, Gaia had fewer daily chances than it does now. Because of this change, the achievement became a little wonky in its granting. Before filing a ticket, try following these steps:

1. Visit the daily chances in the following order: Home, MyGaia, Shops, and Forum page.
2. Do not visit any other daily chances while you are trying to get this achievement.
3. Visit these daily chances, in the order stated above, for a total of 4 consecutive days.

Hopefully, by following the steps above, the achievement will grant for you. If it still doesn't grant, then go ahead and file a ticket.

What is the knife club achievement?
The Knife Club, and its achievement, is an ongoing joke with staff member, it amy. Basically, if you post in a Gaia Community Discussion (GCD) speculation thread (or rarely other threads) and there's significant discussion about knives or knife club, it amy will mass grant the entire thread with the knife club achievement.

Why is my Runway Achievement Progress Bar not working or updating?
Thanks to user Klatt, we realized that the achievement Progress Bars located in Runway do not update properly unless you have entered one avatar submission into Runway. Regarding the voting achievements, votes made before the achievement was introduced do not count and double voting (voting for the same person twice) should be avoided. Klatt also discovered how the bars update by percentage as well as additional information on the effect double voting has towards the percentage bar. That information can be found in the spoiler below:

If you're interested in numbers, you can right click the bar and choose "Inspect" and it will show the percent progress from the webpage source code. Confirming the numbers you already have, Frequent voter increases by 0.25% for every 5 votes and Committed voter increases by 0.1% for every 5 votes.

It seems to count each of the 3 categories separately. If you make 4 votes in each category, the progress doesn't increase at all but if you add just one more vote to each category, the progress will increase by 0.75% for Frequent voter."

Votes are broken up into groups of 5. Votes 1 to 5, votes 6 to 10, 11 to 15 and so on. Use the counter at the bottom right corner to see which vote number you're about to make. Only the 5th vote in each group determines whether the votes in that group count towards the progress bar. If the 5th vote is NOT a repeat vote, you get 5 votes for the group, otherwise you get nothing / zero votes.

Five votes translates into 0.25% for Frequent Voter and 0.1% for Committed Voter. I have never seen the progress bar move after votes 1 to 4 in a group and never in amounts less than 0.25% and 0.1% for the two achievements. It does appear that votes are awarded in batches of 5.

This complicated counting system makes it impossible to explain the progress bar's movement if you simply count the number of repeat votes, since it depends on WHEN the repeat votes are made."

Marketplace Achievements

Completing some of the marketplace-based achievements will unlock an extra 10 slots to sell items in your store. If that's your main reason for coming to this guide, this shorthand version will help. If you need any extra information about one of the achievements, either head to its main entry or feel free to post your questions.

You will need to complete the achievements in the following order:

Member ➔ Statustician ➔ Consumer ➔ Market Browser ➔ Junior Trader, Trader ➔ Wall Street ➔ Profitable, Entrepreneur ➔ Money Never Sleeps ➔ Tycoon

In short, this will require you to:

Register your account. ➔ Update your status. ➔ Buy an item from a Gold/Platinum Shop. ➔ Search for an item on the MP. ➔ List an item on the MP and have it sell. ➔ Sell more than 10,000 gold (1 platinum) worth of items on the MP. ➔ Sell an item for 2% more than the ABP. ➔ Sell more than 1,000,000 gold (1 platinum) worth of items on the MP.



Invisibility Achievement

People in the Chatterbox love to reply to threads, so this achievement can sometimes be difficult to acquire. If you are having trouble getting this achievement, here's a few tips:

- Do not state in your title/post that you are attempting to get the invisibiility achievement.

- Try making a topic with the title along the lines of "Under Construction - DNP" and state in the first post that you are working on formatting the first page. This is a normal request and it is usually respected. For those not familiar, "DNP" means "Do Not Post".

- Try choosing an uninteresting topic title or even try choosing spam as the title.

- Try making multiple topics.

- Make a topic when the Chatterbox is busy. Your topic will be more likely to fall off the main page unnoticed. You can also speed this process up by posting in other threads to make them move above your own.

- Dress your avatar as somebody poor, naked, or new to Gaia rather than wearing expensive, classy, or cash-shop clothes. Also, avoid making your avatar look cute. Doing all this will decrease user's interest in your thread, and would limit the chances of side comments like "nice avi".

On rare occasions, Gaia creates achievements that have a severely limited time frame, or little to no advertisement. As a result, these achievements can be easy to miss. To counter this, we've created a quote list to help our fellow hunters and notify them of these abnormal achievements when they appear.

To be added to the list, simply post here in the thread stating so. If we do not add you to the list within a reasonable time frame (three to four days), feel free to message the account, Achievement Hunters Unite.
