Why exactly are donations needed?

i'd like to know what happened to Friedrich. The last time we saw him, he was sitting alone in his election headquarters (the laudromaut) watcthing the election returns on the TV. And learning he'd lost.
Poor underdog Friedrich, he was a worthy opponent,he bought out the snarky in Diedrich like no one else.

so we can give out nice prizes during Diedrich's birthday!

Friedrich has basically faded into the background, huh?
