Do you keep item doubles?

I keep extras in case any of my friends want one.
This way, I can give them a copy so they won't have to buy from the mp.

I... mean to sell my duplicates, usually. There's one or two where I don't mind set use. Like, any kind of facial definition. Then I'm okay with using another pose. Maybe backgrounds, too. Sometimes it only really works with itself, ya know? Or it could be one of my recolors that I'm hoarding for potential resale later.

But most of the time I forget I have them and then, well, forget to donate or sell them. Or I set it up on the MP, don't realize the listing expired, and promptly don't relist it. Then sometimes I think someone I know wants a copy and hold on to it for a birthday or holiday or something as a gift. (This also usually gets forgotten or drowned out by other details. My mind is a weird and chaotic place and things get lost. redface )

It does not help that I'm an LK RIG/capsule enthusiast and open a lot of them. I'm slightly embarrassed to admit how many copies I have of certain items. One of these days, I'll go through and purge. Today is not that day. *head/desk*

I try to make up for my forgetfulness/hoarding by listing things super-low when I notice they're being hyperinflated, though. Say, selling a supposedly 8-10kp item for 500-1kp... where it used to be or slightly below.

but when it comes to hair, one and done is a pretty obvious rule. can't use more than one of the same hair at a time.

I actually own multiple copies of some hairs because you can layer certain hairs to create new color combos! Glam jam mohawk comes to mind- I own three copies of homohawks because it layers amazingly 3nodding

Personally, if it's an item that has more than one pose, I go through all the poses and keep one item for every pose I actually like. So, I can end up with five or so if it's very versatile, but most of the time I only keep two or three of the same item.

If it has multiple poses I think I might ever use together, I'll keep multiples. Also, if they were gifts, I'd keep all of them even if they're single pose or non-wearable items.

I keep the additional items, cause honestly if there is additional pieces in the item that helps compliment the outfit even more then I don't see the reason why not to. I do appreciate the self control aspect of sticking to a one item, but I do not feel like it would make my enjoyment any better due to my appreciation for each piece of the artwork.

honestly, I'm not even sure what my own criteria is for doubles or no xd

Sometimes the items in a collection set will have different color placement for backgrounds, or even layer-ability options depending on the recolor.

There's some things I have doubles of because I like the effects + layering. Like, I can layer multiple poses of same item to achieve a bolder/darker look because using the D skin on the regular has some serious drawbacks.

So for bruises and scrapes, if they work, I pile 'em on. Though there's other things like noses, that this works for too.


Other items, like some of the old EIs and REIs, have such wildly different poses that I like to keep multiples of them.

Sometimes, it's just because the item has a particular shade or tone that exists nowhere else but it and to keep my own aesthetic sanity, I have multiple copies of it.

I stopped keeping track a few million items ago lol. I can't even find items to dress up anymore haha. I can't remember the names of the items that have the pose that I want.

It varies wildly and depends on the item, scheme etc. If its a new scheme (like Envious/Sincere etc) that I plan on collecting I usually double up on items until I have a few different items in it. Will also double up on items if its a scheme I love and theres multiple poses I really dig. Dream Puff is a good example of an item where I always get two copies because I love the bangs/hair combo.

I usually set myself to have only 2 copies of each item, but that mostly depends how much versatile the item in question is.
If they are singlepose or I like only one pose from that item, I don't bother getting or keeping another copy.

I was discussing this with fellow peeps in a Discord server the other day...

I do one copy.

All items that I made/collab'ed in are the amount it would take to make a full avi (ie nine copies for Royal Icing Papilion Mystique despite it having ten poses.)

There are a couple exceptions to that rule for Gaiamade items, but only two gaiamade items have made that exception eventually three once they release the first gaiamade Nomina item post-adoption.
