None of them are active in the exchange or have vending counts in their Marketplace stores to support the possibility that they have made anywhere near this amount of gold.

Art Auctions and Art Commissions for Gold are completely ruled out due to on-hire having to devote time to all of your projects. They start you off ASAP due to workload too.

They typically have items before released to the public. (For instance, the Astra Minis. You can find several artists hinting to the fact that they were being released because their avatars were wearing them.)

Lastly, the fact that the mule was so quick to deny anything and Zero was SO quick to say something drew red flags for everyone. Zero never posts that quickly and especially on a weekend.

I knew they'd be busy but wasn't sure. I'll trust the word of someone knowing two artists personally though :3

I didn't think Zero stepping in automatically meant bad news bears. I thought it sounded more just a defending the staff from any accusations. It's a fairly normal reaction to any sort of talk like that, regardless of validity.

Quite interesting case here, but the question is why staff would go and throw 100+ trill more into the economy when they can just generate tickets themselves?

I think the general consensus is that they aren't trying to get a ticket to use,
but they're trying to either a) remove a ticket from the system to create less work for artists, or/and,
b) the raise the price of said ticket so that it becomes worth more and possibly more people spend
GC on the chance to get it in the future.

I would like to point out that, looking at the posts, it took them less than 20 minutes to clarify that the gold was legitimate. twenty minutes to look through months and months of transactions and mules and all sorts of countless information. The stuff that takes them months to do for users normally.

All that gold had to have be accumulated within the last 12 months (4 months, if we're being more realistic) as few people had over 1 billion let alone 1 trillion. So even if they did 166 commissions for 1 trillion each, that's over two huge commissions every week on top of their Gaia work load.
An artist offering that level of quality with that frequency would be noticed by almost everyone who regularly browses the R&C or auctions.
If they were taking commissions under their staff name then they would have been even more noticable. If they had been taking them under their mule's name then the "celebrity status" thing doesn't apply.

It's all a complete load of bollocks.

In the (unlikely) case staff can clear this up in a satisfying manner, nothing of value is lost.

What bothered me most about the whole thing, from the moment another user brought up the sudden spike in mp revenue and the matter of the ticket sale coming to light subsequently, was, that this obscene amount of gold, more than even the richest vendors have taken years to slowly amass through a lot of work, was basically handed nilly-willy to a single individual (I don't blame the person that got it, since they never expected anyone to buy the ticket for that price). Releasing that much gold into the economy and to a single user to boot is just not right. And any smart person would not have overpayed that much for that ticket.

I know I"m kind of repeating myself here, but the fact it was a recolour ticket is exactly one of the things that made it shady to me. Why would you pay WAY more the usual amount for a ticket that isn't even a custom item one. Wouldn't it make way more sense to want to have a custom item more badly then a recolour of some EI?

But you do need to do some research before challenging someone else's opinion.

You're trying to contradict people when you barely have any idea of what you were talking about.

asking a question does not automatically mean I'm trying to argue a certain point.
It means that I do not know and that I would wish to be informed.

Several people have given me information that I'm not sure I would have found just by poking around. Such as how much spare time an artist has etc.

I've been trying to wave around a little white flag for awhile now, but this "issue" could have just been left at "no - here's why" then DONE.
