I get what you're saying, but 'parody' implies taking bits or pieces to create a derivative work, usually for a humorous effect. I don't see how lifting the exact design and changing the colors falls under parody. I think there's a difference between referencing a character and blatantly making every single pose a near-copy of the original. It's just lazy tbh.

Not always. Just recreating the item can be seen as a parody.

As I said to Vannequin, one of the first items (within the first few months to a year) released on this site was the Doll Ears. They're a parody of the ears from Chobits.

This isn't the first time Gaia has done this though and I feel it's a bit hypocritical to get upset over this but not over the multitude of other parody items that make up a bulk of the items released on this site...specially those from within the monthly RiG.

Yeah, I'm not saying they should stop making parody items, just ease up a little or make them less blatant. Parody items are fine but imo they should not be created solely to make profit on (aka being sold in the cash shop) as it's disrespectful. I wasn't around during early gaia times but I doubt the Chobits ears were sold for real money?

Gaia has so many obvious and blatant references that it's amazing you haven't noticed. Click the reference list in my sig you will see a lot of references.

I have noticed a lot, I just don't like to go around complaining all the time because what's the use in that lol. I don't have a problem with the idea of parody items in general, just when they are sold for RLC and are direct copies of the source material.

I think it's stupid difficult to make complete lists for rerelease things. The freaking decorated tree thing was insane for me. There was SOO much stuff in each tree. The first post will forever be out of date because I can't fit anymore in the code without getting rid of the rest of the update. @ _ @

Wouldn't mind rerelease RIGs if...
-They were better themed (Paw-only, Hair and eyes only, one specific fashion, etc)
-Offered a wide variety in those categories (looking at you ice fishing hole hairs...)
-Offered separate content from other relrelease RIGs (and wouldn't be in another for, say, 3 months)
-Didn't have only 5 or 6 "fail" items that you wind up with 10 of if you swing for larger packs
-Contained more expensive stuff than what they dish out a lot, though many of the things under a billion are only that way because they've been featured multiple times

TLDR: Make each unique (or space out repeats enough months), make each clearly themed, don't be cheap with prizes

That's what I mean though, there are tons of references with RLC involved. If gaia was flat out plagiarizing they would've gotten in trouble long ago. ^_^

I just want to get a sufficient list, if it's a large one I don't really mind it being incomplete. Atm the mystery lunch box has 13 xD

Yeah, you have a point! I definitely came off too aggressive. I suppose the fact that they don't acknowledge it's based off of something is what annoys me. I do feel like a hypocrite now haha.
