but it gives precedence for it. If your parents were siblings, then obviously you're allowed to have incest as well. And so are your kids. And their kids.

Incest isnt the only preventable circumstances that could cause gentic defects, by your argument we should be preventing anyone likely to have a 'defective' child sterlised.

I have actually had a friend that had sex with her brother. We aren't really friends anymore considering she really is a loose girl. She told her boyfriend, whom is my best friend, and then told me. She said, "When I was younger my brother and I had sex." Obviously must have been four or so years ago considering she had to have at least been twelve or thirteen (I assume). Anyway, her boyfriend was grossed out, but still stayed with her- I wouldn't have. She still has this attraction to him, and every time I was at her house she would compliment about how hot her brother was. This was my first time every having touch with the topic of incest.

I remember a television show touching up on things like this, but I don't remember it clearly. I know there have been issues with families where the father and brother would have sex with the daughters and mothers in the family however they pleased. Most cases it wasn't consensual, which is really sad.

I know there is also the bible views on it where it is an abomination, and ask any religious bible humper about it and they will say "It is morally wrong and you will go to hell." all the while trying to save you from eternal damnation.

My views on it are:

I really don't care as long it is what they want. I myself have already went against the hands of God being in a homosexual relationship, so this won't bother me much either (even though it is on a whole different playing field then me). As long as they both want it and feel the same way who am I to judge? The only reason it bothered me with my ex-friend, was because she was just an all around skeeze, and I just found her disgusting all ready. Sure it is weird to think about being in a relationship with a sibling, but I don't think it is totally uncommon.

We have role-plays going on like that, fan fictions, stories, movies, anime and porn doing that already, so it's a universal thing going around.

There just isn't much you can do about it. Let whoever wants it and is doing it go only their merry way. Your words probably won't effect their judgment. If they want their brother or their dad they'll want them. Just know that you aren't doing it and pay no mind whether you think it is wrong or not.

Okay I'm going to state My View (<--- caps. very important) on the matter and I would like to hear your thoughts. oh! and when I say sibling incest I am referring to consensual adults.

I believe that sibling incest without procreation is perfectly fine. BUT! I believe that in most cases one of the siblings will have been subtly manipulated by the other (whether intentional or not) to view their brother/sister that way, and therefore emotionally find most if not all cases of sibling incest to be something that should be frowned on.
Furthmore While i believe sibling incest without procreation is fine I do not believe our society could handle the fact. I believe there is a good reason for it being taboo: the procreation (again) factor.

Yet another thread on incest. Why the sudden interest? Anyway, I am going to repeat this YET AGAIN (as a note, I don't really support incest):

Christianity permeates a lot of social norms in this country. There are four (and rather powerful) social norms that dictate the reason why incest is illegal and are the ONLY reasons why incest is illegal:
1. Sex is acceptable ONLY in marriage.
2. Marriage is the core of the family.
3. Families formed in marriage are morally privileged, so they should be legally privileged as well (meaning laws should be made to protect families, since they followed what is "morally right" wink .
4. Sex within the family, other than between the couple that created the family (or is head of the family), is prohibited.

These are the ONLY reasons why incest is illegal. Everything else, like birth defects, are basically excuses to keep the laws as they are, not the reason why the laws are there. Case in point: there are no laws that prevent people who have known birth defects from having sex and producing kids. In fact, that would be eugenics, which is controversial on its own.

The thing about incest is that most cases of incest are sibling incest (depending on what studies you use) and its usually older brother/younger sister and its usually in some form of abuse (incest as a whole usually occurs as some sort of abuse). Consensual incest (between siblings or other relatives) usually only occurs in post-adoption incest, meaning that the two partners were separated at some point (thus not knowing what the other person looked like) and formed a relationship later.

While the vast majority of incestuous relationships occur as some form of abuse, not all of them are. Manipulation is a factor for most, but not all. In fact, most people make the (unfortunately sometimes correct) assumption that manipulation is involved because of the thoughts of dependency and consent, that one who depends on an older family member (parent, sibling, etc) can not possibly consent to anything (like sex) because they are dependents.

Whether society can handle this is something that hasn't really been tested. Incest doesn't carry a criminal status in only 3 states.

I do not feel incest is right, I guess that would be the right way to put it.

HOWEVER, I do feel for the people who have fallen for someone but can not do anything with those feelings because it would be looked down upon and taboo. In all honesty, how can you help who you are attracted to or fall in love with. Hopeful one day these people will find someone else and have equal or greater feelings for them as they did a family member.

BUT, if it is a roleplay situation be it real life or online that is different. I feel that since it is not real, it is alright. It does not mean you are secretly attracted to a member of you family, is just safely acting out this thing most find odd, wrong, or taboo. I think in roleplaying it intureging because of the nature of it and because it is see as wrong.

Twincest, bro-cest and sis-cest are the only type of incest I would support. Though bro-cest and sis-cest can be messed up.

I think the issue being a possibility of pressuring an unwilling partner.

Otherwise, its really about how society sees it. there are going to be mental damages done because of how forbidden this kind of thing is.

Your procreation reasoning didn't really make any sense to me, so I'm not even sure how to address it. You're saying that incest should be taboo because it's already illegal? What?

No that's not what I am saying at all. For the Manipulative in nature comment, it just seems to me that most incestuous relationships (well hmm here i am stumped. the ones i know of in real life through friends all happened when they were children)... eh well i'll just say it. most incestuous relationships will start with one person liking and noticing the other. And then they bring this liking to the attention of the other person, causing them to consider their sibling in a way they hadn't before. that's why i said 'whether on purpose or not'.

As for the procreation thing... I didn't go into detail about this. and before i do i need to ask you a question: do you or do you not believe throwing procreation in the mix cramps up the whole 'sibling incest being morally acceptable' thing?

That clears things up a bit, I got confused xp Anyway, my opinion we're born into this world without any rules/limits/boundaries. These are created by the society in which we are born into so should'nt affect us as individuals, though given time it's what we grow to know and that's that in most cases.

Then there are those such as yourself (and me) who take the time to think and question these things. If it's not obvious, I support incest. And NO, I have not had any kind of incest towards family. All of them came to the same conclusion, that incest isn't right, genetically or morally. So yeah, Incest is pretty much universally panned and frowned upon. Conicidence? I think not.

I think it's fine s long as they don't procreate. And if they make sure to have an abortion if the contraception method they use fails.

It doesn't appeal to me, but I can't see any reason to be against incest given that no babies are made.
