Anyone know some good standards to get started in? Also some tips in soloing? ?Im already a seasoned musician in many genres but gypse jazz intrigues me and I'm not entirely sure where to start.

Gypsi Jazz started with Django Reinhardt. Listen to everything he ever recorded.
You're gonna be working with relatively simple chords called triads. Learn first and second inversions to make yourself more useful. Lots of 13th, lots of 9, lots of 6.
Arpeggios are the heart and soul of gypsi jazz along with diminished runs.

The classic strumming pattern is "la pomp", which is down stroke on the beats and muted upstroke after 2 and 4.

You'll want to invest in a thicker pick, it'll probably run you $20 or so. 3.5mm is the best!

I'm still a beginner, but here's a clip of what I can do:

Here, this is what la pomp sounds like..

And this is just simple arpeggio work. Sorry, my strings are old and rusted.

Get the timing down to playing each arpeggio within the chord that's being played. You'll also want to learn gypsi picking; it's like a rest stroke. You'll have to google that, I can't explain it over the internet.
