The update on 4/17/20 removed gold/plat cap. While there is mixed feelings about this, if you play Gaia a bunch, you will end up making more platinum than you would've before the change.

The quickest and easiest way to earn platinum is to post in the forums. You can easily spam a thread like this one. The first post each day gives about 1200 platinum. Each post after that gives 20-30 platinum.

A great way to make platinum is selling items in the marketplace. Keep in mind that Gaia has a tax of 5% on all items sold this way. Also keep in mind that you can only list 50 items at a time.

People often vend items, by buying low and selling high. This can be risky but if done right it can be very profitable.

The new Go Gaia App has a section called "Catwalk". You can vote on avis and make some platinum while doing it. While the app is still glitchy, you get 50 platinum per vote, until it decays down to 1 plat. I've been told it caps out at about 4.8k plat.
Note: This hasn''t given me more than 1 platinum per vote for a while now. Either they changed it, or it is broken

Also, you can enter your avi into the Catwalk. It seems to be free, and you can win some extra plat and even some Gaia Cash!

Every 23 hours, you can click each of your Kin at Lake and click the gift box for a reward. I recommend using the max of 5 kin in your party just for the dailies. Most of the time it rewards a cheap Lake Kindred item or 1 platinum, but sometimes you get a special RIG (A Touch of Everything or Layers of Rainbows) worth a decent amount.
▸ If you don't play Lake kindred, but still want to do this daily, PM me and I will give you 5 awful Kin. Once they are in your inventory, load the game, click "my kins", click on each of them and click the "bring to battle" button so they show up on your game landing page.

I get asked a lot of questions. Here is a list of common ones to help you out!

Q: What happened to the Gaia economy and why is inflation so bad?

A: Gaia Online was sold to a CEO named Gary Schofield in 2013. He ran Gaia into the ground by trying to get players to spend their money. Many items were created that just spawned gold. When he took over thousands was a lot, and by the time he left, billions was the new thousands. People called him Goldemort for ruining the economy. The 4 years he controlled Gaia is referred to as the Dark Ages. Most people left Gaia, and the player base is still suffering to this day. Lanzer, the founder of Gaia came back in 2017 and has been working ever since to fix Gaia and undo the damages. They are actually still paying back people on payroll from back when Gaia hit rock bottom. Lanzer has done a great job of fixing the damage and Gaia is on the right track again. While to some users it might still look bad, it is a million times better than what it was. If you haven't yet, I recommend using platinum instead of gold.

Q: When I get a trade do I have to put an item or gold / platinum when offering or accepting?

A: No. Gaia lets you accept a one way trade. For example, if you win a prize in this thread, and I were to send you a trade, you can offer and accept it without giving me anything in return. (It is also worth noting that once you get a trade request, you enter your password to offer and again to accept so that the other person just needs to confirm to complete the trade. This makes trades smoother and easier)
