Don't expect to run an MMORPG well on any AMD processor. Trust me, or look around the web yourself.
This is the funniest display of complete ignorance that I've ever seen.

an i3 out outperforms any AMD processor in any MMORPG. including SWTOR. Let alone an i5
Some of them do, yes. But that doesn't support your claim that MMOs don't run well on any AMD processor, which is an absolutely ludicrous and ignorant claim.

As evidence, I offer the fact that I play or have played several MMOs, from Vendetta to ESO on AMD processors quite well, thank you. I get framerates well into the 100s on some of them.

Furthermore, several hardware reviewers, including AnandTech, have demonstrated MMO benchmarks on AMD processors at more than playable framerates. So your claim "Trust me, or look around the web yourself" is both self-defeating and laughably uninformed.

The problem is, those benchmarkers don't test AMD during raids. Sure, my AMD PhenomII 980 can get 40-60 FPS while questing, but as soon as you're in PvP or a raid, it'll drop under 20. This is in Guild Wars 2, Tera, SWTOR, WoW, even lineage 2 lol. FX series was even worse running MMOs than the 980. The Planetside 2 forums are filled with people regretting buying an AMD processor for the game.

But hey, at least mine runs all my single player Steam games on ultra @ 60fps.

I know my first post was stupid, and hey, this one probably is too, but even an Intel i5 2500k will run an mmorpg much better than any of AMDs processors up to the FX series. You'll notice as soon as there are more than 5 players on the screen

I don't want to argue with someone who appreciates Blackmill.

I laugh at this as I've ran Torchlight 2 on my AMD processor and any MMO like Aion, LaTale, Shaiya, just to name a few I've dipped in recently and oh would you look at that my hardware problems in running them are a nice big fat ******** all.

My problems with them are "I'm bored with this now" or"people are ********" or the classic "I want to rip that racist/sexist little s**t a new one and he's got his 'girlfriend'/mother/cousin/sibling involved in his s**t now. ******** hell I want to end humanity right now."

Also insert the statutory "you got proof of your statement? If so, then show it or shut up" statement. I can't figure out a nice way to put it right now due to being slightly hypo so I leave that to someone else now where the ******** are my dextrose tabs? evil

Yay, a bunch of 5+ year old MMOs. I'm still willing to bet you can't maintain 60+ fps in Aion during end game content. The other games you listed can all run on a toaster

Yep still got 60FPS at end game content (borrowed a friend's account temporarily under their supervision and a temporary password). Also Torchlight 2 isn't anywhere near 5 years old. It was released in 2012 according to Steam.

Now shall I ask again:
Where is your proof of i3 beating the AMD Phenom 2 X6?

I said 5+ MMORPGs, it excluded TL2 since it's not that genre. Nice to know it can run Aion smoothly though. That's a relief, and thank you for testing it out.

(AMD is fine for multitasking but online games don't make use of all the cores)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bge1f6Se2ac (This video does show AMD running the game at over 60fps with the in game benchmark test. I wonder how well it'll run GW2 wvwvw. Maybe I'll upgrade my AMD instead of buying a new motherboard)

You're going all cockadoodoo over a 0.4 difference...... 99% of people wouldn't notice that 0.4 difference.

I was going to make a price comparison to see if the 0.4 difference was worth extra costs but it seems that the Phenom X2 is no longer for sale.

Damnit can anyone suggest a more recent AMD CPU to compare with the i3? Quite frankly I could say that my AMD desktop kicks my i3 system's butt but I know how well that sorta s**t pans out.

If you want AMD's newest APU here's their most recent one

----- AMD A10 7850K APU -----
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113359

If you want to spend money on AMD's newer ish (the one before the 5GHz CPU) here's a 8 core one
----- AMD FX 8350 -----

Sadly I don't have a Intel core i3 computer but I would love to build one very soon so I can't do head to head testings but these 2 that I picked are the newest (not including AMD's 5GHz CPU) that AMD has out.
