Hi everyone,
obviously, it's come to all your attention that I simply don't have time for this wonderful shop.. which is really sad.. I've got uni stuff starting, coupled with moving interstate and juggling jobs inbetween is making this pretty impossible. However, I hate to see the shop go to waste, so I'm looking for someone (or a group of someones) to take on the shop for me as soon as possible. I wont technically be 'selling' it, as, if I don't have time for Gaia, what possible use is Gaia gold? So, anyone who might be interested in taking on this great responsibility and giving Yarramalong another chance, please, please come forward! Particularly old shop stalkers, if any of you may be interested. Obviously, the new owner would have to create their own mule and create a new post, and I'll be sending all the lineart etc. over to you via email.

Hi everyone,
Sorry the shop's been so quiet these days, but lately with work, checking out uni's and general RL, I've been really busy.
This has led me to a rather sad conclusion, though it's been a long time coming as I'll be going interstate beginning of next year anyway for university, and as of then I'll be leaving home. (Without my photoshop! :c)
I'm going to sell the shop. Rest assured though, this mightn't happen for a couple of months and won't be happening until I finish all growings, complete the event and complete all the champion lineart.
I'll be looking for someone (or a group of people) who has time for the shop, and who can possibly start hiring people for colouring etc. as this has been my downfall - it's getting tough to run the shop, do the lineart AND colour and grow. They'll need to be ambitious and have a basic knowledge of genetics. It will be an auction, though I haven't yet decided on a starting price. (The proceeds of this I'll donate a fair chunk to the guild). This won't be happening too soon, so don't fret everyone. Also make note that this is a very regretful sale, I love this shop but feel that I just can't do justice for it anymore.

Owners who would like their adult dogs in the studbook (you can tell me even if your dog's still a puppy or teen and he/she will be put in as soon as they are adults!) please let me know and please, PLEEESE send me the code for the image of your dog (which you have saved to your own server) along with some nice words about them regarding working ability, show ring, trophies, personality etc. because I need a pic for the studbook so people know what they're looking at, and I can't keep all your certs on my server!!!

Can I choose a show name for my dog?
sweatdrop no, sorry. You choose everything that is on the order form, including their pet name (eg 'Spike') but all their show names are pre-determined (unless it's a full custom or you SEVERELY bribe me - we're talking thankyou letters people!). Also, please note that, as adoption bc's are neutered, they can't be shown in the show ring and thus don't have show names (they can however compete in agility, obedience etc.)

The genetics section is just so you get an idea of what goes on with the dogs' inheritance and all that. You don't have to understand it, I do all the hard work of gene mixing when two dogs breed. :3

Puppy:
Congratulations on your little bundle of fur! As a pup, your BC relies totally upon you for care and guidance, treat it well! Pups always benefit from RP, particularly Puppy Preschool, which can be accessed in the guild. Socialise them well with other people and dogs or they will become shy. Their mind is a sponge at this stage, it is important to bring training in at this time. This stage lasts two weeks.

Teen:
My god! What happened to that cute little bundle of fur!? Your dog is now a teenager. This is where RPing is most important, as these older pups are realising they have a sex drive, and are more likely to challenge you for dominance. This is where they are most likely to develop problems if you do not RP at all. This stage lasts three weeks.

Adult:
Congratulations, you dog had bloomed into a beautiful, elegant, plumed Border Collie. They can participate in the working and sports sub-forums. The adult stage lasts for ever and after. These dogs still benefit from RP.

Show Champion
If your dog/b***h accumulates 50 show points or more (from placing in various conformation shows) Your dog will become a show champion! Their coat is lush and thick, and you've made sure that they're looking perfectly groomed in order to win at further shows. They'll also gain the abbreviated title 'Ch.' in front of their show name. If your dog accumulates 100 (omfg) or more show points he/she'll become a Grand Champion! Though the lineart won't change further for the Grand Champion, they'll get the title 'Gr. Ch.' in front of their show name.



Agility Champion
There will be various titles to achieve through agility competitions to become an agility champion (these are explained in the 'Trophies and Titles' section), and once your dog achieves this their lineart will change! They have an athletic 'air' in their new-found profession, basically one big dog-shaped muscle, and they will have a number of abbreviated titles accumulated after their name (once again explained in T & T).

Flyball Champion
This is similar to the Agility Champion, in the way that it is achieved (a number of titles being accumulated), and the fact that they look athletic! Of course, they can't be seen without a ball in their mouths!



Obedience Champion
Ah, you and your dog have finally managed the triumph of ultimate obedience! By now you should realise that obedience is in fact a very competetive sport, and your dog is trained to perform fluidly all obedience commands. They of course will look the part.. look at those obedient little darlings! ^0^

Trials Champion
Your dog has reached the ultimate goal of the perfect shepherd, and has taken on a decidedly physically fit, wiry and focussed image. This works in the same way as a show champion, with an accumulation of 50 trials points or more, and he/she will get the abbreviated title 'Tr. Ch.' in front of their show name.

These dogs are Yarramalong's own breeding stock, which we use to produce pups for Flatsales. We will post planned flatsales with the parents names; eg: "Dam" x "Sire". And no, you cannot breed our stock with your own dogs.

GENEOLOGY
This is a quick tour on the genetics of the bc, according to coat colour and eye colour.
Pps will pick up their parent's genetics, so if you have a heterozygous black (which is dominant: Bb) and a chocolate (which is recessive: bb), there will be two het. blacks and two chocs. You can use a handy graph like this to work out what colours and how many pups will have what colour:
(as a rule, the dominant gene (capital letter) is always put before the recessive gene when doing the graph, or writing in general)


Border Collie Colour Guide: (Name and acting Genes)

Black and white Heterozygous gene (carrying chocolate) = Bb
Black and white Homozygous gene (not carrying chocolate) = BB
Chocolate homozygous gene - bb
Merle gene = Mm (NB: NEVER MATE TWO MERLES - this will result in double merle puppies, who are born deaf and blind! cry )

A bit confusing, but if you don't get it, thats okay, I do all the hard work of mixing genes when your dogs breed ^_^

We are all very proud of this lovely girl!! She also excells in a team in flyball, but that's "just for fun"!

There are a number of ways to obtain a Yarramalong bc. Through flatsale, auction, raffle, special events or through adoption.

Flatsale
In a flatsale we sell puppies bred from two of our own dogs. A 'litter plan' will be posted a few days prior stating who the parents are, so you can look up their geneology etc. The cost depends on the rarity of the pup. Eg: Black and White is common, and is thus 2k. Lilac tricolour merle is the rarest and will thus go for 8k. Gene mixing is random so it could be a while before one of these comes along! Flatsales are first-come-first-served, and start when I post GO!

Sometimes a poor, homeless bc finds itself in our care. They may or may not be show material, and can come with problems, but don't come along often. They are a cheap option for some as they go through our adoption agency for 500g. Anyone interested posts so, and after a post cutoff, I draw everyone out of a hat. The lucky person gets the border! (NOTE: all adoption BCs are neutered, aka, unable to produce offspring.)

Ah, yes, breeding your border! If you wish to breed, you must have Rp'd to meet the prospective partner in the Studbook thread (in the guild). When both males and females become adults and are able to breed, they can be placed in the stud-book (PM me or post in the guild), unless they are neutered.
Breeding costs 1000g per owner (or however you'd like to settle it, as long as i get it all) or 2000g if you own two dogs and wish to breed them. Note: you cannot breed two dogs from the same litter, but you can breed half sisters/brothers, cousins etc., and you must still Rp in the Studbook prior to breeding. Both owners (or the owner of both) must PM me regarding the prospective mating. Once that is sorted, you can RP 'the act' in the studbook - now, you can be discreet about it as you like (..'they wandered into the bushes.') or you can make it realistic and romantic, but please, don't make it too raunchy (it's a natural act for these guys - all they're doing is following their instincts!!). I will check once that has happened (please make it clear when it had finished) and put a closing post on it - the female is now pregnant!!

Four weeks later, a litter of three to six pups are born! These are divided one apiece between the two owners, and the pups left over are sold by me through flatsale/raffle, or can be given to people for free by you, with my consent.
The genetic makeup of the pups, including litter size, colour and sex, are randomly generated by me with dice, according to the parent's genetic makeup. The litter may all be one sex or colour by chance, it does happen.

NOTE:
Males: Can breed as often and as much as they wish.
Females: Can breed a maximum of 5 litters, waiting for the previous litter to reach adulthood until she produces another.

Through events such as shows, flyball, agility and obedience competitions and herding trials, your dog can attain a number of trophies and titles. Once your dog has accumulated enough points/titles they can become champions!!

::Accumulating Conformation Show Points::
A conformation show is where you show off your dog as the standard of the breed with their best attributes. If the judge feels your dog conforms most to the standard, you could be placed first or second in a show. First place (Best in Show or BiS) earns your dog 10 show points. Second place (Runner Up in Show or RUiS) earns 5. First and second place will always be accompanied with either a trophy or ribbon, sometimes with gaia gold prizes, both varying depending on what kind of show it is. If your dog manages to accumulate 50 points or more, they'll become a show champion (see Stages post) and will get the title 'Ch.' If they -zomg- manage to accumulate 100 show points they become a Grand Champion! Though the lineart doesn't change further they get a Grand champ trophy and the title 'Gr. Ch.' in front of their show name.

::Agility Titles and Trophies::
Becoming an Agility Champion is slightly different to becoming a show champ. Your dog must accumulate agility titles until they make it to the top! Generally the best dog will win and gain a title at a single competition. There are no seconds, thirds etc. An agility champ will have the title 'Ag. Ch.' in front of its show name as well as all its resulting titles at the end of its name.

Titles are: (in order from beginning to absolute champion ^_^)
Starters Agility (SA)

Bronze Agility (BA)

Silver Agility (SiA)

Gold Agility (GA)

Platinum Agility (PA)

..so.. an agility champion must have all those titles to be a champ!
For example: Ag. Ch. Yarramalong Silver Swift SA BA SiA GA PA
