[Winiko]

Long ago, when the land was new and the sky was young, the great Earth Mother created her children. They were vastly diverse, creatures great and small. They were born of the sun, and thrived on rich bountiful lands. All were equals, all had their rightful place within the delicate balance.

Earth Mother was pleased with her children, and loved them all. Most cherished and faithful was the great white lion Ranthor, her soulbound companion from the very beginning of existence. Since time forgotten the handsome creature stood by her side. Where she was the light and the love that guided, he was the protector and guardian of the land.

Eventually, as all legends and stories go, events were to take a grievous turn for the worst. The creatures that Earth Mother had made the most alike to herself - humans - were slowly learning that they could go against the wishes and dreams of their great mother, against the glowing Sun Watcher, and do as they pleased. Ranthor was kept busy day and night, saving the creatures of the land from the humans and their folly.

The beings had learned fire, and set the lands about them to scorching ruins. They had learned how to procreate, and were springing up all over. And one amongst them, Chief Wintak, learned of a jealousy so great, he grew to hate Ranthor. Why should that huge white lion get the honored place next to Earth Mother as guardian of a land that obviously belonged to humans most??

With the changing of the balance of the mother's creations came a changing of the land as well. The endless fields saw gusting winds, the rivers roiled in waves and the mountains became coated in glistening white snow. The changes were not all bad, as they became more and more extreme the mother was not pleased.

Ranthor sat on his icey mountain throne, side by side with Great Mother and Sun Watcher, and all the other gods of the time. They debated long on what to do; how to fix what had gone wrong so quickly. At this meeting, the chief Wintak suddenly appeared, having climbed fervently to find them. With a sudden attack and a great sharpened stick he had long worked on, he brutally stabbed Ranthor. Brilliant red splattered the pure crystal snow. Great Mother cried out, others watched dumbstruck as she flung herself upon her dearest friend and wept.

It was time, all decided, that they leave the land. Sun Watcher would flee to the sky, warming the land each day, then turning his back to them each night. Pale Moon fled too, but not so far, so she could watch the mother's children at night when Sun grew weary of them. The others left completely, or went into hiding to guide from a safe place. If the mighty Ranthor could fall, it stood to reason they all could.

As for the beautiful lion, he died in the snow. He was not cold, for the Earth Mother was with him. His spirit shone brightly as he rose to the heavens and took his place. He twinkled and shone brightest, always to the north to guide the wayward children below.

With that ending alone, Earth Mother was not satisfied. Summoning all her creative power, she focused it upon Ranthor's great white body. In a blinding rage she brought his body back to life, transformed into that of a shining demon with huge bear claws, sharp horns, and the mane of Ranthor so all would be reminded of his gentle beauty. The demon was bound by hate to the chief Wintak, but it had no soul.

Forever after, the cunning and hateful demon was known as Wintak-iko Nah: bloodbound demon of Chief Wintak. It followed him everywhere. No matter how far he ran, how hard he tried, the creature's blessing of second-sight made Wintak easy to find. It served as a constant reminder of the death of an innocent out of hate and jealousy. It craved blood and wished of nothing else but to kill the stupid being it was bound to... but if it were to kill the man, it too would die with no soul left to bind it to earth. In a perverse sort of back fire, Earth Mother's curse also became Earth Mother's guardian blessing. As Ranthor had forever watched over her, so the demon watched over Wintak.

The curse of the Winiko became legend among man, passed down from generation to generation. Soon it was forgotten completely. But the great great great granddaughter of Chief Wintak remembers. Oh yes. For when her relative died, he left his blood line one secret. One secret as he died with a demon-destroyed soul.

Anyone can summon a Winiko.

.:Amulet:.
First stage of the Winiko. These amulets are made from sacred wood, bound by hair from the chosen callers, and can only be activated by three drops of the caller's blood. Only the very special, or the very stupid, get an amulet and actually use it to summon a child demon. Check the 'Calling' header to see about getting one.


.:Child:.
Second stage of the Winiko (female pictured). This is how your demon looks if you called one to you. At this point it is bound to you in a love/hate relationship. It would love to gnaw on you, and sort of feels like protecting you at the same time. It is unknown how long a Winiko remains a child. They are feisty and rambunctious just like any child, and most do whatever they can to harass people and pester things.


.:Adult:.
Third stage of the Winiko. Adults are much more mature, and sophisticated in their dislike for you. Each has a unique personality, and while some may wish to ignore you, others might plot your demise. Their wish to kill you is greater, but they are fiercely loyal. They are bound to your soul, you share it with the demon. If you maintain some sort of balance, you and it might live long enough to see its elder form.


.:Elder:.
Last stage of the Winiko. This stage lasts until the demon dies, you die, or... it kills you and munches your soul and dies anyway. Whatever the case may be, this is the final stage and the bond is greatest here. It can still be affected by items and participate in whatever events. You do not need to RP to get this stage, but be patient as it may take a while to grow to this.


.:Familiars:.
Demons familiars are ornery little balls of magic summoned forth to keep rowdy demons company. Although the theory is they help keep the demon magic under control, it seems more like they just plot right along with the Winiko or turn into shiny play things. Some special demons will come with a familiar already summoned, most will not and you can purchase orbs from the Supplies Shop in the shop when available. (You may summon and dismiss these when ever you like, just let the mule know. when not on a certificate it will go back to your inventory.)



...::: More On Demons:::...

The demons are not necessarily from another world but sort of like another reality that overlays this one. They can travel freely through it, and refer to it as the Inbetween or more jokingly as the Everafter. Humans can't go there, and if they somehow got there if would probably kill them. They would become completely insane by the act in the very least. Hence the old demon saying : "I'll kick you to the everafter!"

They can travel wherever they want through ley line energy as well as inbetween travel. Time works differently for demons. A whole day can go by in the inbetween for them and the demon may have only been gone from our reality for only an hour or so. They always draw off of this power, thats why they grow faster than we do and live longer.

Once a human summons a Demon, they are bonded to it forever by blood. The demon can sense its bond no matter where it goes, and can pretty much "summon" itself wherever it wants. If a demon forms a bond with another demon, they generally form a similar relationship with that other demon- becoming able to track their whereabouts as well. The bond with a human is strongest though, and sometimes so powerful they can feel the same moods and use their second sight to see what the bond sees.

Familiars are not just fun things to paw at and pester either. They have the ability to draw off of these familiars to travel between and shift in and out as needed. The little companions can 'hold' stored energy for the demon. (This may also explain why the familiars are generally spastic, crazy, or slightly insane themselves XD )

When a normal amulet is made (assumedly by the mysterious descendant of the chief in the legend) it is just natural elements and magic tied together through a series of rituals. It is extremely powerful demon magic that will permanently bond a wini to a person (and totally insane black magic you should never practice alone!). The blood of the bonded the amulet goes to activates it through summoning and binds the new demon to them.

With a bundle from traditional breeding it is born naturally to the mother demon in the Inbetween. When a female demon's special time comes, she either travels to the Inbetween herself or her body will naturally shift there. The babies are born there, and have no bonded on this side yet. Therefore they can't call themselves to our world. So the mysterious wini lady has to help bind them using the enchanted bundle fabric and a small charm similar to the kind that she makes to summon a regular demon to help them travel to this world. This is so they can be bonded to a human.

Wraiks: Feral Demons

The latest edition to the Winiko family brings us the crafty lithe and ruthless feral demons of the ever after, Wraiks.
Through years of study and careful summoning experimentation, She who crafts the amulets of power has found a way to summon these crafty thieves to human bonds. But, they are unpredictable, even more unruly than the average demon, hate the earthside with a fiery passion, and hate their own relations even more.

Once you summon a demon they can go wherever you go.
Winiko can travel by 'shifting' out of our reality into the Inbetween, and can also sort of summon themselves to where they need to be.
Demons CAN talk, they are intelligent (mostly), and don't necessarily like you, or other demons, or... anything at all.
Winiko can be male or female, check the cert if you are unsure.
Same gender relationships are ok, but they cannot breed in the traditional sense.
Demons don't have to mate for life, or even be 'mated' to breed, and are pretty much free to do as they please.
The second sight that the demons have allows them to 'see' into the inbetween as well and see through their bond, and track them as needed.

Calling a Winiko demon is easier than it should be. The hard part is getting an amulet, which are only made every so often. If there are some available, check here to see how to get one. Once you have an amulet, just place a little uh... blood on it and wait to see what happens next.

Demon's Bane
This mysterious weed has been found to force a winiko directly into elder stage. Can be fed to babies and adults.
**Caution: if you use on a baby, you will not receive the adult stage, it would go straight to elder! You would have to reverse growth to go back to adult!

Ghost Nettle
This rare and potent plant causes the winiko demon to miraculously produce a baby demon! Can be used on any gender, adults and elders only, to produce a single next generation offspring. This plant can also be used with a traditional breeding to increase the number of offspring.
**The baby produced may take on strong genetic qualities of the single parent, or not look as much alike; as so much line energy is drawn on it can water down the genetic involvement.

Soulspring
This fragrant flower enables a winiko to summon an additional familiar to itself for binding. When fed directly to a familiar, it frees it of binding permanently, allowing the familiar to be named individually as a free agent.
**Caution: once freed, a familiar cannot be forced back into servitude! It will get its own certificate, name, ID etc, and be a free standing breedable mini-pet!

[Winiko]

Creating new Winiko from existing demons is a newly discovered talent.
There are actually two different ways the Winiko can reproduce - if you want to call it that.

.:Traditional Breeding:.
Winiko do have the 'parts' required to create offspring. Adult and elder Winiko can reproduce.
- This breeding type requires a male and a female winiko.
- You do not have to own both, only the owner of the female needs to post, but they must have the approval posted in thread of the owner of the male (or the male owner can pm)
- Female winiko have one - two babies, rare occasions three.
- They will be expecting for an unknown length of time and have a bundle stage baby.
- You must decide amongst yourselves who keeps the baby, if neither wants it it will be placed up for adoption by whoever colored it.
- This style of breeding passes on genetic traits like color, mutations, personality etc.
- The offspring will be whatever the next generation is from the highest parent (ex. gen 1 mom gen 2 dad = gen 3 baby)

.:Summoned Breeding:.
In this not so traditional event, two Winiko of any gender may join in a summoning ritual that will bring forth more demons.
- Winiko involved MUST be elders.
- Anywhere from 2 - 5 amulets could result.
- They are NOT based on genetics, they could be very different from parents, but may be influenced by them.
- Demons summoned by other demons will be gen 1.
- They are more likely to have bright colors, mutations, variations and crazyness.
- Both owners may pick an amulet to keep or gift, and can request owners for the other amulets as well if there are more.
- Both owners must post or pm approval but only one needs to post the form.

DO NOT POST BREEDING REQUESTS UNLESS A COLORIST HAS A BREEDING SPOT OPEN.

You do not have to have your winiko bred by the same person that colored it.
Prices vary per opening, please see colorist's section for specifics on how to get a particular spot.
We do accept combinations of gold and donation letter/items unless otherwise noted.
