yum_strawberry Everyone has a life outside gaia, colourists will work to produce pets on time as efficiently as they can. But drama happens and we all need time off. If your colourist is incapable of finalising your pet we will be happy to refund or change your colourist with no extra charges.
yum_strawberry Colourists will ALWAYS reserve the right to refuse a custom or breeding.
When will my pets grow?
Pets grow over time! The Transitions always depend on the colourist but we will try adhere to these estimates:
Fluff Stage - 2 weeks to 4 weeks.
Foal Stage - 4 weeks to 8 weeks.
Adult Stage - FINAL stage, or is it?
Can I have one for free?
I’m sorry but no. We do not take freebie requests and the only way to get a free pet here would be in free games in events or contests. Everyone should have a chance at a pet, if we gave pets out left right and centre it would be unfair to everyone else. Also to our colourists who deserve compensation for their amazing work!
Do I have to RP my pets?
No you do not. Though bonuses in breedings will be greatly affected by your RP. We may also offer exclusive breedings or events to those who RP. We look highly upon those who RP, but it is not a requirement.
RP will also effect your skills.
Can I Co-own?
You may co-own any auction pet with ONE other person. Breeding results can only be Co-owned in the event of a single offspring to share the baby with the owners unless they choose to gift it to a single owner. Co-owning is lessened here due to owner disputes of their rights with the pets. If you are Co-owning please be sure to place the pet rights in the pet journal so it is clear who controls what aspects of the pet.
I’m going on hiatus or leaving Gaia, what will happen to my pets?
Pets will remain yours or can be gifted away to other gaians. We will not delete your pets due to your absence, but we would love to be told you’re going away so we all know you’re alright: heart:
What are Skills?
There are three skills your pet can have: Discipline, Athletics and Presence. These skills increase at random from events, RP or other special bonuses. Your Certist will randomize your pets starting skill points between 1-25 (max is 50) and place them on your pets cert. Skill upgrade possibilities will be made clear in the event and not all events will have them! Because we do not want to cert a pet left right and center these increases will be done twice a year. And any event upgrades will be kept on record in our Staff forum.
Skills will permit some pets and their owners to enter exclusive events, breedings and games. So it's just a bit of fun, although you do NOT need to work on skills to enjoy Viam Caelum!
What do the Skills mean?
The skills all represent a 'talent' of sorts. Of course it is pretty possible to be 'perfect' in everything!
Discipline
Is a unicorns control, his surefootedness, his balance. Discipline would mostly apply to those who prefer dressage and finer arts. They are careful with their decisions and prefer to take their time before stepping into something unaware.
Athletics
This skill is pretty simple. This works towards their speed and agility. He might not run fast, but perhaps he can jump higher than the others? Or even trot longer than most? Athletics is for those who rely on raw strength to complete tasks. Again, your unicorn might only be strong in one aspect of Athletics.
Presence
Finally, Presence. It is a skill which turns heads. Can your unicorn dazzle others with a mere glance? Or perhaps he is very charismatic? A unicorn with Presence is a good thing to have (especially with breedings ;P )
What are Loyalties?
Your Pets loyalty will only have slight effects to breedings and will mostly effect RP. You have two loyalty options: Wild or Tame. Which it is safe to say will be pretty simple to understand their meanings. More information on the effect of loyalties will be mentioned below in Breedings.

Species locations are merely a guide, you may RP them away from suggested habitats! But be warned, some unicorns may not like strangers in their grass patches!
Forest unicorns are very placid creatures, often hidden away deep within lush glades. Some believe they have the ability to disappear and are commonly mistaken for dryads as they can blend into the flora like walking through water. They are loved by all fae and elven kind and when a unicorn is found in exchange for a blessing of good health and fortune they adorn the unicorn in flowers, berries, jewels, vines or leaves. They come in a variety of colours and personalities. This unicorn is fairly common in Viam however they are hard to obtain due to their shy nature. These unicorns will respond to kindness and honesty more so than the purity of persons soul. Thus these unicorns are more forgiving to those who have an impure past. They can be easily corrupted by deforestation and demons leading to a form of 'dark unicorn'. Their magic is powerful when one is seeking to grow plants, purify water and heal the land. Wherever they tread flowers and trees begin to grow.
Prairie unicorns are the most common type of unicorn. They are also known by the term "Plains unicorns". Many believe these unicorns to be directly related to the 'first kind'. Which is an early breed of unicorn created personally by the gods and spirits. Their magic is powerful being able to resurrect the dead, heal wounds, summon food and water at whim and they are also believed to be talented shape shifters. These unicorns are startled by black magic, they are the purest of beings and rarely are corrupted by dark magic. Only the lord of evil himself could have the power to taint a Prairie unicorn. They love small children and only approach the purest of heart.
Desert Unicorns are a rare breed of unicorn. They are extremely fast and light boned which allows them to dart and dash at incredible speed. Unlike plains unicorns and forest unicorns, the Desert unicorn can run along sand like normal ground. They are designed to ride along rocks and beaches and are kept in the best condition with minimal feed and water. Their magic is typically along the lines of fire and shelter. They are commonly found harnessing dark magic with minimal corruption as they are born in the harshest of lands, they are strong and able bodied. A Desert unicorn has a whip-like tufted tail which helps them keep flies at bay more effectively and leaves less hair to tend. They have a mane which runs along the spine to the tail in some cases this gene is bred out but it has been known to grow very long indeed! A Desert unicorn is only recommended to experienced unicorn herders.
Mountain unicorns are extremely rare unicorns. They enjoy the solitude of the mountains and some during the harsher winters will migrate south to feed upon the soft grass below. Many Mountain unicorns have a thick fringe which covers their eyes, however the gene seems to be fading out leaving fringeless unicorns with only their mane. The mane is thicker and helps to warm the blood going to their sensitive muzzle leaving it at a comfortable temperature. Their magic is unknown but many unicorn enthusiasts swear they have encountered a mountain unicorn which could levitate small objects and make snow storms. Mountain Unicorns have never been caught and domesticated before, only wild foals which have been abandoned and brought into towns have managed to befriend only a single human. This could be due to their strong bonds to their mates. Older Unicorns tend to stay with a mate permanently and younger bucks enjoy bachelorhood. When a mare has a foal she tends to leave the male until her foal is a big bulkier and can stand an eager fathers nudging (which often leads to a foal tumbling in the snow.) In some rare cases a mare will allow her partner near to the foal after birth.

Customs will be held at least bimonthly depending on colourist availability. Below is the pricing list please inspect it carefully and read the colourists rules when applying for a custom slot in the future. All custom events will be announced a week beforehand and a link will be provided in the Updates page.
yum_strawberry Customs payment must be sent for within 24hours of obtaining a slot to the colourist. They should be accepted before or when custom is complete.
yum_strawberry Colourists have the right to refuse an order if they choose.
yum_strawberry Colourists have the right to alter the price of your custom on difficulty (this will be discussed with you via PM.)
yum_strawberry No offensive images will be permitted on pets.
yum_strawberry We will not do customs of real life people without their express permission. Concerning celebrities we can custom characters or costumes but not the celebrity them self.
yum_strawberry You may only win ONE custom every three months.
yum_strawberry We do accept pet trades, please PM the mule to enquire. Pet Trades will be open at all times and are subject to colourist discretion.

yum_strawberry Seasons effect breedings! Spring results in an extra 2 foaling rolls and Summer grants a single foaling roll.
yum_strawberry A Tame loyalty will allow the entrant to choose the genetic preference from their gene pool.
yum_strawberry A Wild loyalty will allow the entrant to choose the gender of one foal.
